Chapter 947: Chapter 944: The Grand Search
The car drove down the street, and even a Maserati wasn’t conspicuous on the roads of Jinghua City. After all, this is Jinghua City, where luxury cars are as common as high-ranking officials. Even limited-edition luxury cars can often be seen.
Zi Yan stopped in front of a building with a very eye-catching and exquisite sign, "Victoria Beauty Workshop." Needless to say, this was Zi Yan’s store, but this store was much more exquisite than the one in Xikou City.
"This is my flagship store in Jinghua City, so if something like that happens and isn’t handled well, not only will my customers suffer, but the impact on the store will be very big," Zi Yan said softly.
"The incident with the female customer fainting hasn’t spread in the circle yet, has it?" Lin Tian asked with a slight frown, knowing that with a store of this caliber, there must be a regular clientele circle.
"Not yet, but I still need to figure out the reason. If it happens again, it would be too dangerous for my customers. If it really can’t be helped, I’ll have to close the store; I can’t let my customers be harmed," Zi Yan said decisively.
"Don’t jump to conclusions, senior sister. Let me take a look first," Lin Tian said with a light smile and walked in ahead.
"Hello, Sister Zi Yan!" The young receptionist in the flagship store’s lobby greeted Zi Yan quickly as she walked in.
Zi Yan nodded and said, "You guys carry on, I’m just here to take a look."
"Senior sister, let me take a look first; don’t worry. If there’s something unclean here, I’ll take care of it," Lin Tian said, looking around the lobby with confidence.
A zombie’s eyes can see things invisible to ordinary people—through walls, over distances, at night—and have a special ability to see through all spiritual bodies. Lin Tian could see the true nature of Shishen at that shrine in Japan.
The Shishen of the Onmyoji is a kind of spiritual body, normally invisible to most people. But because Shishen are artificially crafted spiritual bodies, a type of spiritual weapon, ordinary people can see them, and they look no different than real people. In essence, however, Shishen are just a cluster of spiritual energy.
Of course, if Shishen get a physical body, that’s another matter.
But there is a kind of spiritual body that is invisible to ordinary people, the demons and ghosts Zi Yan mentioned. Theoretically, Shishen fall under the category of demons and ghosts, so Lin Tian was confident he could deal with these things.
He could handle the intangible Yin Sha Qi, so other spiritual energies wouldn’t be an issue. If it really was a spiritual body causing trouble, Lin Tian would be more than happy.
For zombies, spiritual energy is a great supplement. He still remembers the time when he was wielding the Demon Blade Muramasa, wreaking havoc and absorbing spiritual energy.
"Feel free to look around, just don’t randomly barge into the work areas with female customers. The lower five floors of this building all belong to Victoria Beauty Workshop. Where do you plan to start?" Zi Yan agreed to Lin Tian’s proposal and asked.
"Let’s start with this lobby then," Lin Tian said lightly, and before Zi Yan could lead the way, he’d already walked to the center of the lobby.
Lin Tian closed his eyes and, upon reopening them, a blue light flickered deep within his eyes; super vision was activated.
The lobby was simply arranged, with the reception desk facing the entrance. To the left, there were sofa chairs for temporary rest; to the right, there were stairs and elevators leading upstairs, with the remaining areas decorated with simple potted plants.
Lin Tian scanned quickly with his vision and, in the blink of an eye, had finished looking around. There was no unusual spiritual energy fluctuation anywhere. He also gave the receptionist a quick scan and found nothing abnormal—no Shishen or spiritual body possessing her.
At the shrine in Japan, Lin Tian had seen Shishen possesses someone, so he had paid special attention to the staff. The essence of a spiritual body is a cluster of energy; possession doesn’t show externally.
"Junior brother, did you find anything?" Zi Yan asked promptly as Lin Tian opened his eyes.
Lin Tian didn’t reply directly but asked, "Where’s the restroom?"
"Why are you asking about the restroom? Do you need to use it? It’s over there, past the resting area," Zi Yan asked curiously.
"The restroom is a place of cyclical replenishment, a place of filth, with long-term insufficient Yang Qi, where sunlight rarely reaches. It’s the easiest place for unclean things to hide. In horror films, most paranormal events occur in restrooms. Don’t you think there’s some truth in that?" Lin Tian chuckled.
"You are joking, aren’t you, trying to scare me, senior sister?" Zi Yan said, half-believing.
"Why would I fool you? After all, I’ve dealt with Demon Exterminating Masters; even if I haven’t seen a pig run, I’ve certainly tasted pork. There are some basic truths I understand," Lin Tian said casually.
"Junior brother, are you trying to scare your senior sister so I won’t dare use the restroom anymore?" Zi Yan said, giving Lin Tian a sideways glance.
"Indeed, imagine if, while you’re in the restroom, a hand reaches over from the next stall, or something is lurking above watching you—just the thought gives people the creeps, hehe," Lin Tian laughed.
"Stop it, hurry up and go check for me." Zi Yan urged Lin Tian with a slap, her expression not clear whether it was feigned fear or genuine.
Lin Tian shrugged and headed towards the restroom. It was almost noon by now, the time when there were the fewest people, and the restroom was quiet, with not a soul in sight.
Moreover, the sun was high outside, at its strongest midday position, but neither the restroom nor the corridor received any sunlight, making the area appear rather eerie under artificial lighting.
"Senior sister, your feng shui here isn’t good, huh? As a Divination Master, can’t you tell?" Lin Tian asked curiously.
"Who says Divination Masters are supposed to know feng shui? Besides, I don’t even look at the architectural plans of the flagship store, so how would I know? Where do you find it bad?" Zi Yan retorted.
"A place like a restroom should have large windows along the corridor, allowing sunlight to frequently shine in and balance out the filth, preventing unclean things from hiding," Lin Tian said assuredly.
"You’ve been talking for ages; is there anything unclean here or not?" Zi Yan ignored Lin Tian’s philosophy on feng shui and asked again impatiently.
"Uh, no." Lin Tian said awkwardly; he really hadn’t found anything. After all that bluffing, it turned out to be just a boast.
Zi Yan was speechless and, giving Lin Tian a sidelong glance, said, "Just bluffing your senior sister, huh? I’ll see how I deal with you later."
"Oh, come on. We’ve only checked the first floor; there are more floors to go through. Let’s go, we’ll conclude after we’ve seen everything," Lin Tian said, slipping away.
Lin Tian walked casually up the stairs, which led to the second floor, scanning every place with his super vision as he went. This time, Lin Tian didn’t pause or speak, instead walking down one corridor after another, scanning every corner. Zi Yan followed quietly behind him, not interrupting.
After finishing the last stretch of hallway, Lin Tian stopped, staring silently at the window at the end of the corridor, but furrowing his brow.
"Junior brother, is there something wrong with that window?" Zi Yan asked curiously.
