Chapter 935: Chapter 932: A Meal’s Kindness
Lin Tian did not expect that the old master would be so powerful, able to suppress the yin energy immediately. However, the next step was not going to be easy. The compressed yin energy became stronger, persistently clashing with the old master at the knee boundary.
Additionally, Lin Tian noticed that although Mr. Yun’s thigh was free of yin energy, it still showed no signs of life. Was it destroyed by the yin energy, or suppressed?
Lin Tian furrowed his brows slightly. It seemed that Mr. Yun’s condition had been deteriorating for some time; otherwise, the vitality in his legs wouldn’t have disappeared. In other words, simply expelling the yin energy from his legs wasn’t enough. Mr. Yun still couldn’t walk and a way to restore the vitality in his legs was needed.
Restoring vitality is not easy, akin to reviving the dead, a defiance of the natural order.
Fortunately, Mr. Yun’s legs only lacked vitality, he wasn’t dead, his body still harbored life. As long as the body is alive, there’s hope for partial recovery, though the process is indeed difficult.
"Senior brother, everyone else seems happy. Why are you frowning? Do you lack confidence in the mage?" Zi Yan asked curiously.
Lin Tian shook his head and said, "It’s not a matter of confidence. I just don’t know how to explain it to you. The struggle between the old master and the illness is a war of attrition. One wrong move, and the old master could exhaust himself to death."
"These doctors all assume that the old master is simply chanting scriptures leisurely. But in reality, he is constantly depleting his spiritual power and physical strength. It’s like two Ancient Martial Artists competing with their inner strength. The depletion of their True Qi is invisible, but once your True Qi and stamina are exhausted, the old master will be in great danger." Lin Tian said, slightly frowning.
"If the old master’s life is at risk, why didn’t you stop him, senior brother?" Zi Yan asked, puzzled.
"Even if I intervened, it would be useless. Buddha has shown great compassion by feeding himself to an eagle and offering his body to a tiger. I’m sure the old master made up his mind with a readiness to die when he decided to treat Mr. Yun. Buddhism emphasizes compassion towards others and universal salvation. As reclusive individuals, we can never truly understand this ideology," Lin Tian sighed a bit but said with great admiration.
Ksitigarbha vowed that hell would not be empty and he’d never become a Buddha. Guanyin Bodhisattva also vowed to save all living beings. Although the powers of these two Bodhisattvas have reached the grade of Buddha, they still remain at the Bodhisattva Fruit Position because their great vows are unfulfilled, and they have not become Buddhas, showing their compassion toward the Six Paths of Life.
These stories, Lin Tian learned from the Buddhist Scriptures, reveal the old master’s willingness to sacrifice himself to save others.
"If senior brother intervenes and heals Mr. Yun, won’t the old master avoid such danger?" Zi Yan said.
"Healing Mr. Yun is easier said than done. To be honest, I examined him yesterday, but so far, I have no confidence," Lin Tian confessed. Being harmed by yin energy is beyond just an illness, which is why modern medicine cannot cure Mr. Yun.
Zi Yan blinked and asked, "Even the Nine Needle Technique doesn’t work?"
"The Nine Needle Technique originated from the mysterious Gui Guzi. Theoretically, it should work. However, I haven’t mastered it enough to unleash its full potency," Lin Tian thought for a moment and replied.
Previously, when he used the Nine Needle Technique to cure illnesses and save lives, it was virtually unstoppable. But Lin Tian knew that the illnesses he dealt with before were ordinary. Even if he only utilized ten percent of the Nine Needle Technique’s power, it was enough to cure those ailments. But Mr. Yun’s illness was not an ordinary one.
"Anyone who has mastered the Nine Needle Technique, perhaps you understand it the most profoundly. If even you can’t do it, then it’s hopeless," Zi Yan said softly.
"I can only say, if anything happens to the old master, I’ll try my best to ensure he survives," Lin Tian said. Zi Yan glanced at Lin Tian and fell silent.
Lin Tian turned his perceptive gaze back to the old master and Mr. Yun, while others looked tensely at the old master "chanting scriptures."
The time the old master spent chanting was unexpectedly long. Past noon, he was still chanting with closed eyes, without any pause. He sat for hours. The renowned doctors were already restless. Those who needed to use the bathroom did so, not caring about embarrassment.
Who knew how long the old master would continue chanting? What if he chanted until evening, Mr. Yun’s condition remained untreated, and they ended up with bladder issues?
Even so, although no one could sit still, no one left. Even those who went out to the restroom returned to the main hall to wait.
The old master continued chanting while Fu Xin quietly walked backwards, arriving beside Lin Tian, looking troubled.
"Fu Xin, what’s wrong?" Lin Tian asked.
"I... I want to ask Brother Lin to save my master. If he keeps chanting like this, he’ll exhaust himself to death," Fu Xin said anxiously. At his age of ten, holding back tears was commendable.
"Fu Xin, if I’m not mistaken, your master must have instructed you not to tell the Yun Family about the consequences, am I right?" Lin Tian speculated.
"Yes, Master said we are connected to the Yun Family because of a single meal they offered. It is an act of kindness we cannot forget. As long as we can cure Mr. Yun, what does it matter if we sacrifice our physical bodies?" Fu Xin repeated his master’s words.
Though he had guessed as much, hearing it personally, Lin Tian felt a solemn respect. Yun Haoyu might have merely encountered the master and disciple while giving alms and offered a meal, but the old master was willing to sacrifice his life in return.
Honestly, who in this world could do such a thing? Lin Tian questioned himself, admitting he couldn’t do it and couldn’t comprehend the old master’s level, while Zi Yan also sighed softly.
Lin Tian fondly patted Fu Xin’s head and said, "Fu Xin, rest assured, I will not let you lose your master."
"Really?" Fu Xin’s eyes lit up with joy, then he happily said, "Thank you, Brother Lin. In the future, I will chant scriptures for you every day, praying to Buddha, hoping Buddha will bless you with a long life, good health, and no calamities or diseases."
Lin Tian smiled but did not respond, thinking to himself, I don’t need your Buddha’s blessing. I’m already immortal, and if Buddha knew of my existence, he might even want to destroy me.
Fu Xin, having received Lin Tian’s promise, paid his respects and quietly returned to his master’s side.
"I couldn’t tell, but you have such a kind heart, junior brother," Zi Yan said with a smile.
"What do you mean you couldn’t tell? I’ve always been very caring toward you, senior sister; you just haven’t noticed," Lin Tian replied with a playful grin.
Zi Yan coquettishly rolled her eyes at Lin Tian and scoffed, "Hmph, with my master here, you dare flirt with your senior sister? You don’t know the meaning of the word ’death’ do you?"
"Hehe, I naturally..." Lin Tian chuckled and was about to respond when the scene before him unexpectedly changed, cutting his sentence short. The smile on his face disappeared.
