Yours, Until Needed
Chapter 92: Ocular Visit

Chapter 92: Ocular Visit

We didn’t stay for too long. It was best to look like tourists who just happened to pass by the place. So, we made sure to take photos while Lucian roamed around with the land surveyor.

Part of our plan was to prepare proof of the site’s viability. It was important to establish that in case someone attempts to sabotage our land.

Since we got that notice, people have been watching the place. If arson weren’t beneath Alexa, then sabotaging our actual lot wouldn’t be unthinkable for her.

The idea was to perform the same actions in some other areas before we went after Joseph’s nightlife. We lounged with our wide-brimmed hats under the sun while we listened to our people’s findings.

"He’s been meeting up with the daughter of Loretta’s most prominent family. We think he’s trying to get a formal engagement." Mitchel reported.

"He’s been taking her to populated areas, probably trying to cement their relationship publicly," Oliver added.

"Any idea when they’re planning on announcing the engagement?" I asked because someone like Joseph would want to announce such things to the world.

"Our people managed to intercept invitations being sent out to important local families, and they’re planning on hosting a formal banquet three days from today." Oliver handed over a photo of the invitation.

Joseph tried aligning himself with the Dovers. He was even seen visiting orphanages because Kate Dover was rather philanthropic. He was probably trying to earn brownie points from both her and the people. Articles about his visits were easy to find, and if you asked me, the local publications had too many of them.

"And when night comes? Do we know who he meets?" Asked Lucian who was lounging next to me on our large beach bed.

I glared at Lucian. How come he sounded like there were always daytime and night-time women? But then I remembered how I was drilled the other day, so I just scowled at him. If anything, Joseph Roa would surely have someone else. That guy just couldn’t keep it in his pants. And here I am, just praying that no more of his progeny would bother the world.

Oliver’s face paled, and he probably noticed how I glared at Lucian, so the poor guy tried covering for his boss.

"Ma’am, rest assured, boss only goes to work then straight back home!" His face looked serious, and I couldn’t help but break out in laughter.

"Is that so?" I asked while giggling.

"You may be right, Oliver." The guy flinched at my words, and I know my eyes were like Crescents now as I remembered a past rumor about Lucian.

"If anything, the closest to him would be Oliver. So close that you two are like peas in a pod." I said with a slight smirk. Oliver looked ready to faint while Lucian’s face kept getting darker.

I decided to stop teasing when Oliver tripped over his words. "I’m kidding. It’s good that you two are always together." I flashed him a genuine smile before crashing against my husband’s chest.

My face rubbed against his chest before I looked up, sticking my tongue out a little.

"Bleh!" Then, hiding back again. Lucian just had a look of wanting to throttle me, and that was funny.

"Stop flirting, you two! We don’t have the desire to keep on cleansing our eyes hourly." Rina said behind her large sunglasses.

I rolled my eyes at her because how was this even flirting?

"If you allowed him to come, you wouldn’t be a bitter gourd, you know?" I told her, reminding her that it was her choice to leave Idris behind when the guy asked to come with us. This was fine because we hadn’t settled the permit. But they’d have to return anyway, as Idris would need to check on the project every now and then.

"Hmph!" Rina pretended that none of us existed, which earned her a chuckle from me.

"Anyway, enough of this. We’ll need footage for our gift. And maybe we can give a little something to his competitors, too."

"How’s the Vice-Mayor? Was he as bad?"

"We don’t think so, boss. Powerless at best." Mitchel was relaying their findings when Alyssa spoke up.

"The other Mayoral candidate for this upcoming election was a childhood friend. From what I remember, they’ve been trying to oust Joseph from the moment he entered politics."

"That would be perfect then. We’ll have to ensure a non-threatening workplace, after all." As long-time investors in the town of Loretta, we’ll have to dip our hands to get a better lot.

I have long realized that absolute fair governance does not exist, but I’m also not the type to control normal people.

"We’ll go by ourselves. You guys are too eye-catching." I looked at the three men we had with us, and that just cemented my decision more.

"Women are far more inclined to question the presence of three good-looking men than men who wouldn’t go straight to questioning reality at the sight of unfamiliar women."

Mayor Joseph was smart enough to do his dirty deeds outside of Loretta. The guy actually spent time driving out to the nearest city while trying to blend in amongst the crowd. So, our goal was to trail him as he looked for women to warm his bed.

"No," Lucian said sternly, his tone not asking for a rebuttal.

I sighed before looking at him. "You say that, but there’s no way we could make you look normal enough. Sure, we can apply makeup here and there, but your height and build would do it even if we flatten your face."

Sounds like a compliment, but it’s the truth. And right now, it’s not working in his favor.

"But boss, I don’t think the three of you are ’normal’ enough. You might even end up attracting him."

"Well, that’s one way of doing this," Alyssa added.

"Try that and see how you’ll all be tied up before you know it," Lucian warned.

"Fine. I knew this would happen." I grumbled, but still thankful that we kept the tails on him.

What was surprising was how we ended up seeing someone unexpected. The simple tryst ended up with the mayor meeting up with Alexa’s "personal shopper," but a personal punching bag would be more accurate.

I remember this kid, who was the child of Alexa’s nanny. Whenever the Chairman was around, Alexa would pretend to be nice to Belle, but once no one was watching, she’d treat her like a rag. The child grew up taking the physical damage Alexa couldn’t inflict on me.

"Oh, hell no. I know that girl! Isn’t that Belle?" Rina rose up from her seat in surprise.

"What would she be doing here, far from Alexa and her family?" The answers I kept coming up with weren’t nice. So, I’m hoping that this was just a coincidence.

We found her to be very pitiful because her own mother cared more about Alexa than her. All we’ve heard her say to her own daughter was to stop angering Alexa even further. As if she didn’t know that all this girl did was exist.

From the footage, she was very reluctant to exit the vehicle, but several guards pushed her out.

"I have a terrible feeling about this," I murmured because, contrary to Joseph’s usual visit to the bars he frequented, he kept driving until he stopped at some questionable motel by the city’s outskirts. So we have been watching for some time now, only to be greeted by the view of Belle, who was pushed out and left there.

How big of a coincidence was it for them to find Joseph and Belle at the exact location?
