Chapter 656 -658: Emperor, Guest of Heaven!
Qin Muye eventually decided to blend in, taking it as though he was undertaking a story quest. It gave him a chance to weigh the All World Protector Organization’s strength and prepare for the incoming sea of information, to avoid capsizing in a gutter later on.
The arrangement was extensive, but the plan was simple. Qin Muye would attract hatred, the Omega Level Abnormality would seize the opportunity to strike, and Taotie would wrap things up at the end. Naturally, this process would involve assistance from various aspects.
The Zodiac Doctor would also make an appearance, even as the main attacker, to ensure the safety of all participating Abnormalities.
In any case, the lineup was incredibly luxurious; there were as many as fifty Omega Level Abnormalities involved in the operation. However, not all Abnormalities would necessarily be used. Most were just backups, for instance, if they failed to kill with the first attempt, others would take their place.
Alternatively, should Qin Muye be beaten severely, other Abnormalities would come to his rescue and employ various means for healing.
“With such a big lineup you’re still asking me over, isn’t that a bit much…” Qin Muye complained.
“Although you are the most suitable, if you could go a little easy when beating up the Emperor, after all these years we might not have chosen you,” Dr. Dragon said.
Among the Zodiac Doctors, it was just Dr. Dragon whose appearance was quite strange. The other eleven doctors looked quite human, unlike Dr. Dragon whose skin had taken on the pattern of dragon scales.
“Enough with the jokes, let’s figure out a way to lure the Emperor out,” Dr. Dragon glanced around. Now everything had been set up, just waiting for the Emperor to come out for a one-hit kill. Even the clay soldier statues had been removed, all to send the Emperor on his way.
“Lure? Do you think the Emperor is stupid or is my mocking face so powerful that it can make the Emperor ignore his interests?” Qin Muye rolled his eyes. That idea was a bit too far-fetched.
“Then what do you plan to do? You can’t just storm in there if we don’t lure him out,” Dr. Dragon felt an ill omen seeing Qin Muye’s reaction.
“Can’t we stop with all the fighting? We’re civilized people, after all. I’ll go in and lead him out.”
“That wording is no better than my ‘lure’,” Dr. Dragon was also speechless.
“All right, you keep luring. I’ll go in and bring the person out. Remember to protect me; I’m just a scholar with no strength,” Qin Muye said righteously, and then headed toward the interior of Taia Palace.
Dr. Dragon didn’t say anything more but quickly adjusted the plan. He hadn’t expected Qin Muye, who reluctantly came, to be so bold. The original plan certainly did not involve Qin Muye actually going inside the palace.
But this change indeed made the plan much easier to execute.
Qin Muye strolled along, entering the palace which had done away with its original gruesome decor of flesh and blood throughout the halls, void of the shadowy walk of dragons and snakes.
The palace had regained its original, unadorned grandeur, and on the throne sat a slightly bloated humanoid figure.
“You’re back again?” The bloated figure was naturally the Emperor. He recognized Qin Muye at a glance but refrained from an unwise conflict with Qin Muye, given that he was just a little bit away from recovering his peak strength.
Qin Muye looked at the Emperor, who seemed like a mixture of dragon and snake, acquiring the power of the Primordial Dragon.
“Hmm, I’m back, and my purpose is quite simple this time – I’m here for your life,” Qin Muye bluntly stated his truth.
The Emperor seemed not at all surprised but slowly stood up, like a snake rising to its full height.
“My life is here, do you dare to take it?”
No overwhelming pressure, no supernatural phenomena, just a calm statement.
But Qin Muye could see that the Emperor’s body began to sprout masses of flesh, evidently harnessing the power of the Xuan fetus.
His Xuan fetus was not ordinary flesh and blood but was founded on the essence of the Dragon and Snake God.
“Ah, this… there’s no need to be so confrontational, right? Shouldn’t you be a bit more polite at this time?” Qin Muye thought no wonder he had been beaten over the years without a peep, he was truly stubborn.
But it was fine for him to be stubborn; other areas would be soft enough.
So, seizing the moment the Emperor began to open his mouth to speak, Qin Muye quickly attacked, pulling out the Ji Shan and smashing it towards the Emperor’s forehead.
This time, he was careful with his force, not aiming to burst the Emperor’s head, but rather knock him for a loop. The sheer force caused the Emperor to stagger since he had no feet and was standing on a snake tail, obviously lacking stability.
Then, with the swiftness of lightning, he rushed forward, grabbed the other’s tail, and started dragging Emperor along as he ran outside.
When the group stationed outside saw Qin Muye sprinting out with something resembling a snake-man, they were utterly dumbfounded. Weren’t they supposed to rely on taunting? How did you knock out Emperor and drag him out? This was nothing like what they had imagined.
“Quick, I’ve got Emperor’s aggro, attack now!!!” Qin Muye roared, oblivious to the struggles of pulling aggro from the group.
But everyone had only one thought in mind: You’re not pulling aggro, you’re pulling a tail…
Fortunately, thoughts remained thoughts, and action took precedence over them.
A Life Support Chamber opened quickly, and a severely burned man stepped out, wielding a bronze horn bow with an ordinary-looking wooden branch notched in it. The front end of the branch had been sharpened into a point, and this arrow was known as the Sang Arrow.
As he drew the bow, flames spread from his body, generating terrifying temperatures that distorted the environment.
This was one of the sequelae left behind from shooting the sun all those years ago.
Yet this man paid no mind to his suffering, focusing intently on aiming his bow at Emperor.
Under this murderous intent, Emperor snapped to his senses and immediately tried to break free from Qin Muye, since Qin Muye’s grip meant Emperor had a fixed trajectory.
At that moment, Emperor realized that Qin Muye’s threat to take his life was not an empty boast, but earnest.
“Rebel! You dare commit patricide!!!”
These words became Emperor’s last, as the Sang Arrow pierced through his dragon-and-snake-like head.
Inside the cave, Taotie opened its mouth wide, devouring everything of Emperor, from his body to his cognition.
Dr. Long held a sword in his hand, a blade without edge, yet it bore the imprint of the sun, moon, and rivers.
As the sword fell, it severed Emperor’s causality in time, facilitating Taotie’s consumption.
Beyond that, the other eleven Doctors each summoned various Abnormalities, ranging from scrolls to registries, and from histories to mirrors.
All traces of Emperor were obliterated.
Qin Muye shivered at the sight; if this group were to use such tactics against him, he’d surely find himself flayed alive.
“Alright, let’s have everyone withdraw in an orderly manner, and prepare for the aftermath,” Dr. Long said as he stowed the sword away, his expression unchanging.
Taotie, distended from its feast, piloted its cave away. The consumption of Emperor, who spanned the annals of history, was nearly too much for it, particularly the cognitive aspect. Thankfully, the other Abnormalities helped shoulder the burden, or Taotie would have exploded by now.
The Sun Shooter returned to the Life Support Chamber; after firing the arrow, his condition had worsened. The burns that had subsided flared up anew, manifesting even more terrible injuries. Suppression needed to be immediate.
As for the others, they too departed. The Doctors had to deal with the historical aftermath of Emperor’s demise, while Qin Muye slowly sauntered back to his villa.
In the end, it could be confirmed that Dr. Long was indeed the former Crown Prince to Emperor. As for why he created this situation and went on to hold positions like the office of the Middle Chariot and take control of the Bureau of Physical Investigation, those were stories for another time. At least now it was clear why he had access to the Imperial Jade Seal and the Dragon Vein.
Glancing at the neighboring Taia Palace, Dr. Long hadn’t left yet and was still tidying up the mess—after all, Taia Palace was, in essence, an Abnormality as well.
He seemed to be communicating with Li Youcheng about something.
Being the Crown Prince, it was no wonder that Li Youcheng, the Will of the Soldiers, listened to Dr. Long. His loyalty was not just to the Emperor, but also to Dr. Long, the Crown Prince.
“I wonder what Dr. Long thought as he watched the dynasty he should have inherited fall,” Qin Muye mused. He didn’t know why Dr. Long had renounced his position as Crown Prince, but he did know that whether it was witnessing the fall of the dynasty or sending Emperor on his way today, his thoughts must be complex.
“This wave of righteousness over familial love really is filial, after all. Emperor was no longer the Emperor he once was, but a monster named Emperor.”
