Chapter 596 -598: The Horror Game Begins at the Restaurant
“A bit cliché,” Qin Muye muttered softly.
The rules were simple, just like those of a ghost restaurant, letting ordinary people act as waiters serving the ghostly customers, where all the roles from chefs to floor managers and manager were filled by ghosts.
Essentially, it was about continuously troubling humans under the guise of restaurant rules, then using their mistakes as an excuse to kill and devour them.
There weren’t many people, only ten in total. Qin Muye wasn’t counted, so he wasn’t included. Moreover, some sort of task was initiated, likely about surviving for seven days.
Out of these ten people, nine were trembling in fear, and the remaining one was taking it easy, the protagonist.
[Ghost Talent (Damaged): Luck MAX-1]
The protagonist’s Talent was a bit quirky, damaged with a negative value.
Qin Muye guessed that similar protagonists were not unique to this one.
‘From this, it can be confirmed that all these thrilling Big Escape Killing live broadcasts, national thrilling games, and various horror apartments might all be parts of the Ghost entity.’
‘The real Omega Level Abnormality is not these; the Ghost is the real source.’
‘Well, it seems the All World Protectors have already identified the Ghost as the Omega Level disaster and are likely moving officially now, but they just had me draw their fire?’
Qin Muye thought many things in an instant. The reason why all these protagonists had a damaged Ghost Talent was that each similar Abnormality offspring also had a similar candidate within them.
“Number Eleven, go attend to table three,” the floor manager ghost commanded.
His words were directed at Qin Muye, looking as though he wanted to devour Qin Muye the moment he made a mistake.
Qin Muye sauntered to table three and then said, “What would you like to eat?”
“Braised human…” sitting at table three was a hanged ghost, with a remarkably long tongue, who spoke up right away.
“We don’t have that.” Qin Muye interrupted before the ghost could finish.
This scene also stunned the hanged ghost. How could this kid not follow the script? But it quickly replied, “If not, we’ll take some from your body as the raw material.”
“Oh, we don’t have that either,” Qin Muye glanced at the hanged ghost. What kind of raw material could he have—his heart, liver, spleen, lungs, kidneys, or maybe eyeballs?
Even if he wanted to, he didn’t have those things.
“I think you’d like to drink some Northwest Wind.” Qin Muye figured, you’re already a ghost, what’s the point of eating at a restaurant? Just dream up a business chain from breeding to table at home—totally straightforward, no need to waste money dining out.
“I just want to…” The hanged ghost was just about to lunge at Qin Muye when it suddenly felt a pang of heartache, as though it was about to die again?
Then it saw Qin Muye’s gaze and instantly calmed down, “Have some Northwest Wind…”
“Alright, one order of Northwest Wind, no ice, no sugar,” Qin Muye called out, throwing the menu through the serving window to the kitchen. He didn’t care how the chef was supposed to make it: “Don’t worry, our restaurant is listed with the Consumers’ Association, if the chef can’t make it, we’ll compensate you with the chef.”
This statement got the hanged ghost excited, eating the chef, huh.
Qin Muye’s move was a bit quirky, but a neighboring Ghost Talent was making an even bolder move.
Because the other was flirting with a beautiful female ghost, seemingly about to save himself thirty years of struggle.
As for the remaining eight people, those without strength or luck could only tremble in fear.
Trying to emulate Qin Muye and Ghost Talent, isn’t that courting death? Otherwise, how could there only be eight people left, one already in the stomach?
Time ticked away, and the Ghost Talent successfully charmed the female ghost, while the other seven had also successfully completed their services. Don’t ask why one less person, because there weren’t enough raw materials.
“Cough, why hasn’t my Northwest Wind come yet!” the hanged ghost yelled.
Qin Muye was sitting nearby with his legs crossed, looking uninvolved, although it was his table; he seemed more like a customer than a waiter.
He was the only one left in the entire restaurant, as the others had already left, having completed the task for the day. Now, all they needed to do was stay alive.
They really didn’t have the time to manage Qin Muye, given how dangerous the place was—who knew if they might just find an excuse to eat them?
So staying here idly and watching the fun might just turn you into the fun.
“This guest, the Northwest Wind that you requested isn’t available, so as an apology, I’ll offer you this waiter,” the manager ghost said obsequiously as he rushed over.
The hanging ghost glanced at Qin Muye, his expression slightly changed, and then he said, “What do I need your waiter for? Call your chef over.”
Right after the manager ghost had said that, the hanging ghost felt surrounded by a hunger so intense that if he had agreed, he wouldn’t be receiving the waiter as an apology, but offering himself to warm someone else’s stomach.
This feeling was targeted at him alone, so now he was truly at a critical moment of life and death. Although he didn’t know why humans could have such a bizarre aura, he was sure the aura was definitely real.
At the hanging ghost’s repeated request, the chef soon appeared. After a very rational discussion, the hanging ghost swallowed the chef whole and hurriedly left while giving Qin Muye a five-star review.
Qin Muye and the manager ghost exchanged glances, the fury in the other’s eyes nearly igniting upon him.
“Don’t look at me, I’m off the clock. There’s no way I’m working overtime, especially without overtime pay,” Qin Muye totally ignored the other’s fury. Let them try to hit him.
But it seemed the other didn’t have the ability to do so, as they also seemed bound by the rules of ghosts; without a valid reason, they couldn’t lay hands on a regular person.
“From tomorrow, you’re the chef in the kitchen,” the manager ghost roared as he saw Qin Muye leaving.
It seemed he was planning to trap Qin Muye to death.
But Qin Muye didn’t care at all; he was here to watch the protagonist shine, not to play clever tricks on his own.
So becoming the chef had its benefits; at least nobody would know about his actions.
Just like today, the protagonist might carry something that could enhance favorability and twist common sense, could be the System or it could be Talent.
As long as it was done right, deep-seated enmities could turn into sticky affections.
Qin Muye had seen this with his own eyes; though the enhancements were added to the protagonist, it was the Ghost at the Omega Level Abnormality who took action.
‘I hope Ghost can survive a few more days under the attack of the All World Protector Organization, I still want to see the protagonist go unrivaled among fierce ghosts.’
‘It’s no wonder that they deployed Doctor Horse from the Twelve Zodiac Doctors; Ghost really is qualified enough.’
If it were just a nationwide horror game, it indeed would seem like overkill, but Ghost, being the source of many abnormalities, justified the appearance of a Zodiac Doctor.
Ghost is probably one of the finest among the Omega Level Abnormalities, with its vast scope, great danger, and complex methods.
As for the other Zodiac Doctors, Qin Muye didn’t inquire, but he was certain of one thing: most of the Zodiac Doctors were extraordinary, and they seemed to rely not on brute force but on brains most of the time.
This matter had little to do with Qin Muye; unlike the Zodiac Doctors, he relied on brute force most of the time; after all, using brains to handle an enemy was too troublesome.
Besides, usually, he didn’t take action himself but let his Spirit Monster handle it while he sat back and waited.
After all, he was a Lord, not a Martial Artist.
Following directions, he returned to his room, the first thing Qin Muye saw was a mess.
“Are you sure this is staff accommodation and not a pigsty?” Qin Muye complained, and not only that, but aside from human staff, the manager ghost, assistant cooks, and other fierce ghosts also resided in this staff accommodation.
At night, one couldn’t leave their accommodation, as the fierce ghosts at night weren’t bound by the rules; the dormitory was roughly a safe zone.
The reason it was roughly is that there were various ways to break this safety; it’s true that ghosts couldn’t enter, but if you were deceived into opening the door, that was a different story.
Apart from deception, there were various other ways to fool people.
“Huh, the protagonist isn’t in the dorm or the dining hall? Then where did he go, he couldn’t possibly be freeloading somewhere.”
“That’s actually quite likely; it seems the rules didn’t state you must stay overnight in the dining hall, just that you need to be on time for work in the morning.”
“Shh! Terrifying indeed.”
Qin Muye glanced at his room, this thing really wasn’t fit for humans to live in, he had to think of a way to get a better room.
