He said, "I have good news and bad news."

"Just tell me," Bai Wuxiang replied, his expression darkening a little.

"The bad news is that I failed to replicate the jade slip," Chu Liang stated bluntly. "I figured out its structure, but without the same pure immortal qi that Hallowed Li possessed, there's no way to recreate the Jade Slip of Life and Death."

"And the good news?" Bai Wuxiang asked.

"The good news is that I gained a great deal of enlightenment from studying this strand of immortal qi in the jade slip. My understanding of the Great Dao of Creation has risen to a new level."

At the eighth realm, a cultivator relied heavily on receiving enlightenment to advance further in their cultivation journey. However, the Dao essence of Creation was exceedingly rare. Prior to studying the Jade Slip of Life and Death, Chu Liang had only found Dao essence of Creation in the White Pagoda and Deity Pan's Bone. 

This time, studying the immortal qi that Hallowed Li had left behind gave Chu Liang an entirely new perspective on the Great Dao of Creation and increased his comprehension significantly. Additionally, he gleaned completely new knowledge regarding the process of cultivating and producing immortal qi.

If strictly assessed in terms of cultivation realms, his mastery over the Great Dao of Creation was already nearing the pinnacle of the eighth realm. With a bit more progress, he would be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with the top cultivators of the Divine Nine and Terrestrial Ten.

"That's just bad news to me," Bai Wuxiang said grimly.

"I kept my word and gave it my best shot. But that's just how it is. The Jade Slip of Life and Death is the product of Hallowed Li's divine ability. How could it possibly be replicated so easily?" Chu Liang replied, shaking his head regretfully.

Bai Wuxiang sighed, "Haaa… I suppose I should have foreseen that this would be the outcome."

He continued, "Now, it's my turn to share some bad news."

"What is it?" Chu Liang asked.

"While you were in closed-door cultivation, some small changes occurred in the mortal realm."

Chu Liang's brows twitched. He still vividly remembered the last time Bai Wuxiang mentioned there were some "small changes."

Just as he expected, Bai Wuxiang dropped a huge bomb. "The Noble Dharma has emerged in the world again. This time, he has fused with a ninth-realm corporeal body. His cultivation level surpasses even that of Evil Ksitigarbha. He broke into Mount Shu and killed Baize. Now, he's slaughtering countless living beings. The leaders of the Divine Nine and Terrestrial Ten are trying to stop him, but the situation is dire."

"…" Chu Liang's pupils dilated in shock.

What kind of cursed feng shui does the Divine Ruins Monastery possess? Why does calamity strike every time I come here?

"If the Noble Dharma succeeds, he'll leave the mortal world with the Great Dao of Longevity, and all living beings in this world will perish. Even with such a dire situation, is the Divine Ruins Monastery still unable to take action?" Chu Liang asked.

Bai Wuxiang's gaze deepened. "Strictly speaking, the Noble Dharma has not violated any of the Laws of Ascension. In all of history, he was the only one who ascended to the Profound Realm without violating the Laws of Ascension. I never thought things would come to this.

"The final jade slip… should not be used unless absolutely necessary."

He paused there, sinking into deep thought.

Then he added, "You will take action once more. I'll lend you the Divine Ruins Monastery's most powerful legendary artifact. Use it with your Demon-Refining Pagoda. Perhaps you will be able to suppress him."

Chu Liang nodded firmly. "Okay!"

Without the Jade Slip of Life and Death, Bai Wuxiang was just a powerful cultivator at the pinnacle of the eighth realm. His participation in the battle wouldn't necessarily change the tide.

Moreover, Bai Wuxiang was violating the rules of the Divine Ruins Monastery by lending out its most powerful legendary artifact, so Chu Liang couldn't really say that he was being obstinate. After all, using the jade slip required Bai Wuxiang to sacrifice himself. Chu Liang couldn't simply ask him to go out there and die right now.

Aside from sacrificing himself, this was the best Bai Wuxiang could do.

Bai Wuxiang stood up as well and gave the tree a respectful bow.

Among the Divine Nine, the Greater-Yin Cult was arguably the sect with the weakest presence in the cultivation world.

Thanks to its predecessors passing down the tradition of keeping a low profile, the Greater-Yin Cult was the only sect in the Divine Nine whose disciples rarely stepped outside their own gates. Those predecessors had also passed down the trait of being notoriously ruthless, so few people dared provoke the Greater-Yin Cult in the Northern Regions.

This combination of keeping a low profile and being ruthless was due, in part, to the Greater-Yin Cult's legendary artifact, the Celestial Portal of the Nine Yin.

The Celestial Portal of the Nine Yin could not be moved, and its influence was limited to the bounds of the Brilliant Mountain of Yin. Even so, it qualified as a legendary artifact—a testament to its immense power. While it might not be a match for the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda in a direct confrontation, it would at least have no trouble defeating the Seven-Star Sword.

When the Noble Dharma returned and resumed his slaughter of living beings, the Brilliant Mountain of Yin once again became the gathering point for the Divine Nine and Terrestrial Ten. The cultivators treated it as their base of operations, joining forces to halt the Noble Dharma's rampage.

It wasn't just the cultivators, though. Demons, celestial beasts, and all kinds of sentient beings had sensed the apocalyptic threat and began converging there. 

Demonic beasts rushed in from all directions, crowding the icy plains surrounding the Brilliant Mountain of Yin. From the dull and gray sky, the demonic beasts looked like a swarm of ants crawling on the ground. Many groups of shadowy figures were steadily making their way through the Northern Regions to the Brilliant Mountain of Yin.

Amid the icy winds, the air was heavy with the scent of blood and rot. It looked like the end of the world had arrived.

Yet, despite the sheer number of demonic beasts crowding the icefields, the area was eerily quiet. All of them were stricken with terror as if some monstrous hand had seized them by the throat.

Suddenly, a deafening crack reverberated through the sky like a thunderclap, and a rift appeared out of nowhere.

A towering armored figure like that of a vajra warrior emerged from the rift, flying rapidly toward the Brilliant Mountain of Yin in a blur. There was a lotus platform following the figure from behind, accelerating their advance.

That lotus platform was the Dharma Lotus Platform, but its operator was no longer Abbot Dayu of the Buddhist Cloud Monastery. He had suffered near-fatal injuries during the recent battle at Mount Shu, so Dhyana Master Dawu had taken his place.

The other cultivators had grouped up to hold the Noble Dharma back, but they were soundly defeated. Only Lu Jiuwai—with his Xuanhuang Battle Armor, the strongest defensive legendary artifact—was able to withstand the Noble Dharma's repeated strikes and cover their retreat.

Whoosh.

However, before Lu Jiuwai could land on the Brilliant Mountain of Yin, a beam of golden light shot over and crashed into him like a meteor, slamming hard into his back.

Boom!

Lu Jiuwai went smashing into the ground, causing half of the Brilliant Mountain of Yin to collapse. 

As the Moon Deity Palace on top of the mountain shook, several beams of light rose into the sky.

The first to rise was the Divine Mirror of the Eight Trigrams. A ring of golden light dropped onto the Noble Dharma once again, binding him in layers of restraints. Even if the restraints couldn't stop him completely, they would at least slow him down.

Next up was the Celestial Cosmic Ring. However, this time, Venerable Wen Yuan didn't trap the Noble Dharma in the Celestial Cosmic Ring's small inner world. Instead, he had a ring of white light encircle the Noble Dharma. Then he used the power of Primordial Chaos in reverse, sending the Noble Dharma straight to the front of the Brilliant Mountain of Yin!

As the deafening rumble shook the heavens, two mountain ramparts on the Brilliant Mountain of Yin abruptly split apart, revealing an ancient dark bronze gate. It looked heavy, dark, and cold, exuding the ghastly aura of a gateway to the netherworld.

Right then, a woman yelled, "Open!"

The gate's twin bronze doors creaked open slowly, just a crack. A terrifying chill seeped out and sent a gust of icy wind sweeping across the mountain, making all the demonic beasts in that direction shiver.

Soon after, the Celestial Portal of the Nine Yin opened wide.

Boom!

A dark, hollow world filled with nothing but endless icy winds had opened up before them. A blast of frigid air blew out from the portal and instantly froze half of the Brilliant Mountain of Yin. Black Mysterious Ice extended past the mountain at lightning speed for thousands of zhang, making the icefields at the foothill even colder.

Lu Jiuwai suddenly turned around. He summoned all his power from the Great Dao of Holding Up the Sky and delivered an explosive kick to the Noble Dharma.

"Go in!"

Lu Jiuwai was trying to kick the Noble Dharma into the Celestial Portal of the Nine Yin!
