Chapter 985: Chapter 985: Not Mrs. Huo, but still able to beat you until you’re looking for teeth everywhere!

Fu Ziqiu was notoriously known as a dissolute in Sea City, always coming up with novel ways to indulge in food, drink, fun, and games.

He particularly liked beauties and never turned any away.

But once those women knew of his identity, which of them wouldn’t cling to his thighs, wishing to be on him all the time?

Some women even brought their girlfriends to seek him out, and there were more scandalous situations.

Once, he slept with a woman, only to later discover that she had a daughter who was about his age.

Latter, he learned that the girl had slept with him long before.

The pleasure he derived with the older sister flowed naturally, yet, it turned out the girl had been orchestrating it from behind the scenes.

Since then, he had opened another door to a different world, playing even more unrestrainedly.

While playing with those somewhat attractive women, he occasionally liked to share them with his buddies—of course, with their consent—it was all a matter of monetary transactions among them.

It wasn’t just these rich young men; the daughters of famous families were even more eye-opening in their exploits. The circle had always been like this, and no one could escape its customs.

With the Fu Family’s backing, Fu Ziqiu, surrounded by both men and women who flattered him, had long lost his sense of direction and purpose.

Suddenly encountering Qin Ruan, a defiant woman who insulted and berated him, he wanted to save face while under the influence.

Little did he know, he stirred up a huge mess and nearly lost his life.

Listening to the side, Josh gave Fu Ziqiu a thumbs up after understanding the situation.

"Turns out you boy had designs on my little sister-in-law and even disrespected her. I say you’re lucky to be still alive," Josh said.

With his hands covering his face, Fu Ziqiu lamented, "Can we not mention it? I don’t ever want to drink alcohol or touch another woman in my life."

Josh, looking serious, said, "If you can walk out of that door today, then perhaps you could consider it."

Fu Ziqiu thought he might not be able to leave today, his face turning deathly pale as he glanced pleadingly at his cousin beside him.

Fu Yinru patted his shoulder, his eyes gentle as he looked at Josh, "Young Master Josh, Ziqiu has been spoiled by his family, but if he has done wrong, he must bear the consequences. As long as the Huo Family spares his life, the Fu Family won’t intervene."

Leaning casually against the table, Josh, smiling, said, "What do you take us for? We wouldn’t really take his life."

Slowly, Fu Ziqiu’s heart settled down.

But before he could relax, Josh added, "At most, he’ll just lose an arm or a leg. Don’t worry, his life will definitely be spared."

"Bang!"

Fu Ziqiu’s body collapsed, falling from the chair onto the floor, his already pale face now looked utterly desolate.

With an unperturbed gaze, Qin Ruan glanced at Josh, "Stop scaring him."

The mirth in Josh’s eyes faded, his face cold and fierce, "This is just the beginning. If we were in Yi Country, this kid would have been thrown into the sea the same day, with no chance to even speak."

A terrifying, bloodthirsty aura emanated from him.

Raised by his family to be the successor, Josh had always been a bit hot-tempered, occasionally lacking intelligence, and even whimsical at times.

However, he had learned all the harsh methods required of a leader, without missing a single one.

Huo Yunjiao surveyed the scene, Qin Ruan fiddling with her fingers.

He sat casually yet elegantly, a gentle smile curling up the corners of his mouth as he let Josh take the lead without making a sound.

At that moment, Fu Yinru finally understood that whether his cousin could leave the Huo Family that day still depended on Qin Ruan’s attitude.

He helped the paralyzed Fu Ziqiu stand up, gesturing to the bodyguards behind him. Two muscled bodyguards placed gifts they had brought with them on the table.

They were two elegantly wrapped gifts, devoid of any design.

Pushing the dark blue gift box towards Qin Ruan, Fu Yinru said, "Madam of the Third Young Master, this is an object the Fu Family acquired from a traveling mystic in the south, said to be a Spirit Stone containing the essence of heaven and earth. Master Hui Cheng of Nanyin Temple once mentioned that this item is quite valuable. Today, I offer it as a present to you."

Qin Ruan’s indifferent eyes swept over the gift box before her, then shifted to Fu Yinru’s handsome, deep-set eyes.

With a faint smile on her lips, she calmly said, "I do not accept rewards without merit, and with Master Fu bringing such a precious gift, I would not feel comfortable accepting it."

"This gift is in apology for Ziqiu’s offense against you." Fu Yinru pushed another gift box in front of Qin Ruan, "This is from Nanlin Maple in Capital City, a renowned herbal cuisine house. Please accept it, Madam of the Third Young Master."

Nanlin Maple was famous in Capital City; its chefs’ ancestors had served emperors as royal chefs.

The delicacies there were endless, with new items every year, and the appointments were countless; they only catered to highly esteemed and status-bearing guests.

Hearing the name Nanlin Maple, Huo Yunjiao opened his eyes, his detached and cold gaze lingering on Fu Ziqiu.

His expression was mockingly playful, his face bearing a hint of arrogance: "The Fu Family is indeed generous."

His formidable demeanor did not affect his gentle and refined nature, yet his tone was ambiguously mocking, dripping with disdain.

Relieved to hear Huo Yunjiao speak, Fu Yinru slightly relaxed.

He said humbly, "Though Ziqiu is my cousin, he is like a brother to me. Without him, I might not have had the chance to stand before the Third Master today."

"He was young and brash, ignorant, and it’s because the Fu Family lacked discipline. His frequent troubles are also due to the Fu Family’s negligence. I request that this time the Third Master and Madam would kindly forgive him. The Fu Family guarantees Ziqiu will never dare to overstep again."

Ziqiu, scared silly by Josh and with a dazed expression, panicked and said, "I’m really wrong, I truly know my mistake, sob sob sob..."

This child laid his head on the table and started to cry, his wailing was heartbreakingly tragic—it was pitiful!

Qin Ruan, propping her chin with one hand, stared at Ziqiu who lay on the table, and said in a deep voice, "Stop crying. How old are you to still be bragging and threatening me that night with such arrogance?"

Ziqiu raised his red, tearful eyes, and said pitifully, "How was I to know you’re the Huo Family’s Madam. If I had known, not even ten lives would be enough for me to dare to provoke you."

"You are mistaken."

Qin Ruan suddenly sat up straight, her face a blend of flirtatious charm and demonic allure, revealing a cold smirk full of arrogance and dictatorial flair.

She raised her index finger at Ziqiu, "You offended me recklessly without knowing my strengths and identity. Even if I weren’t the Huo Family’s Madam, I could still punish you and even make the Fu Family come and apologize to me."

In Ziqiu’s wide-eyed, skeptical gaze, Qin Ruan pointed to Fu Yinru, "If you don’t believe me, you can ask your cousin. He now has troubles of his own and has even asked for my help."

Meeting the questioning gaze of his cousin, Fu Yinru nodded solemnly.

Qin Ruan then extended her middle finger to Ziqiu, "That was one thing. Here’s another—you were lucky.

If I were not now married with a family and children, giving me pause, I might have, with my old temperament, broken your leg for starters, and you would really need to thank your stars."

As the Fu brothers looked uneasy, she extended her ring finger and said in a slightly grave tone to Ziqiu, "One last piece of advice; had it not been for my intervention that day, you would have faced a deadly plight before you turned thirty.

You say you’ve never forced anyone against their will, but your way of doing things will surely bring calamity sooner or later. If you truly reform yourself now, although you may achieve nothing remarkable in your later life, you will still live a life of wealth and leisure, truly without worries about food or clothing!"

Upon hearing this, Fu Yinru pressed his cousin’s head down firmly.

"Bang!"

The sound of his forehead hitting the solid wood of the table was painfully audible.

While holding down his cousin’s head, Fu Yinru bowed three times to Qin Ruan, urging in a stern voice, "Ziqiu, aren’t you going to thank the Madam immediately?"

Ziqiu, holding his forehead, looked thoroughly confused and bewildered.

Fu Yinru succinctly said, "The Madam is a rising Mystic Master of Capital City, respected by Master Hui Cheng of Nanyin Temple, as well as by Jade Star Sect and Maoshan Sect.

"Damn!" Ziqiu cursed, utterly dumbfounded.

He stared at Qin Ruan, his gaze filled with awe, as if he were looking at a deity.

Before he could speak, Qin Ruan, who leaned back in her chair, spoke in a cool, slow voice, "I haven’t finished speaking."

"Go on, go on!" Ziqiu, attracted by Qin Ruan’s status, gazed at her with his bright red eyes sparkling.

He wouldn’t doubt his cousin, for theirs was a friendship forged through life and death.

Over the years, his cousin had cleaned up quite a few messes for him. Though he was fierce this time, it was also for his own safety.

Actually, on his way here, Ziqiu was somewhat defiant, thinking what’s so great about a woman who rose from poverty, a sparrow turned into a phoenix.

But seeing the anxious faces of the Fu Family, even if he remained defiant, he could only suppress it in his heart.

Now, knowing Qin Ruan’s status, any defiance in Ziqiu’s heart disappeared, replaced by an unconscious reverence.

His cousin’s strange encounters these years, Ziqiu, being the involved party, knew them all too well, and he utterly believed in those mystic events.

If Qin Ruan could truly cure his cousin, he wouldn’t mind acknowledging her as a father, even revering her as an ancestor was not out of the question.

Qin Ruan’s eyes, sharp as blades, surveyed Ziqiu and she spoke slowly, "You are duplicitous; from the start, your eyes hid humiliation and disdain for me..."

On hearing this, Ziqiu, feeling guilty and anxious, denied, "No, I—"

Qin Ruan slightly raised her eyebrows, lifted her hand to stop him, and chuckled, "Don’t rush to deny it. You are full of pride, and your nature is untamable; likely, you can’t change it in this lifetime."

"Ziqiu!"

Fu Yinru’s voice, full of anger, rang out behind him.

Ziqiu lay on the table, guiltily hiding his face.

He dared not say anything now, fearing that the more he said, the more mistakes he would make.

Qin Ruan touched the table where Fu Yinru had pushed forward a gift box, pretending it contained a valuable Spirit Stone reportedly appraised by Master Hui Cheng.

A fleeting, dark light flashed in her profound eyes.

She wanted what was inside the box; she had not shown it before, unsure of the Spirit Stone’s value.

Having opened the Heavenly Eye and seen clearly the shape and energy contained in the Spirit Stone, she was sure she wanted it. The thing had been presented to her; there was no reason to push it away.

Yet, she did not want to owe the Fu Family a favor.

Under such circumstances, she could only resolve the issues plaguing Fu Yinru.
