Chapter 978: Chapter 978: A Lifelong Marriage Remains Unsolved, Endlessly through Generations
Qin Jingcen looked into Qin Ruan’s worried eyes and chuckled, "Ayan was known to me as Hu Yixian’s cousin when we first met, and I suppose it was love at first sight then.
Years later, when we reunited, I realized I had never forgotten her, whether as Hu Yan or Hu Yixian, I could accept either as my partner, and there would be no one else besides them.
It’s a pity that my youthful pride blinded me back then when I fell for Hu Yan at first sight. Now, after Hu Yixian’s confession, deep down inside, my loyalty to these feelings remains."
Seeing the warmth and determination in his eyes, and the unintentional domineering tone when he mentioned Hu Yixian, Qin Ruan knew that matters of the heart were not for her to intervene.
Thinking it over, it wasn’t so bad, after all, humans and demons have some advantages over human puppets.
Her cool, indifferent face showed a helplessness, and she said earnestly, "Big brother, I don’t want you to get hurt. Remember to call me if anything happens."
The future of the romance pursued by her older brother was uncertain, and if he got hurt by Hu Yixian, it was the last thing she wanted to see.
Qin Jingcen put his hands on Qin Ruan’s shoulders, pushing her towards the car, with a doting and indulgent tone, "You worry too much for someone so young. Get in the car and go back to rest early."
Qin Ruan got into the car and said to him, "I’ll leave first."
Qin Jingcen reminded, "Don’t forget to let me know when you get home safely."
Qin Ruan waved her hand, "I know."
Qin Jingcen stood there, watching the Huo Family’s motorcade leave.
Once the motorcade disappeared from sight, the smile on his face faded, and his handsome, gentle features became as calm as still water.
Suddenly, he turned with a cold glance towards Qin Mei and Hu Yixian, carrying an impending storm of rage.
Qin Mei knew his big brother too well and, seeing the bad turn of events, he ran towards his car, shouting as he went, "Big brother, I have another appointment! I’ll leave first!"
He rushed into the car, started the engine, and with a roaring sound, stepped on the accelerator.
That limited-edition Speedtail supercar vanished from Qin Jingcen and Hu Yixian’s sight in the blink of an eye.
In the vast underground parking lot, only the two of them remained.
Watching the man emanating a cool aura slowly approaching him, Hu Yixian took steps back, desperately wanting to flee.
He swallowed nervously, heart pounding, and said anxiously, "Jingcen, we can talk this out."
The memory of being beat up had long cast a shadow in his life as a Nine-tailed Fox.
Hu Yixian didn’t know that he had transformed again, and as he swallowed, his Adam’s apple moved, his voice changing from coquettish to gradually lower.
A glint of darkness flashed through Qin Jingcen’s eyes; the parking lot lights shone on his handsome face, making him appear even more solemn.
He walked up to Hu Yixian, reached out with a large hand, and placed it on the other’s protruding Adam’s apple, "You’ve recovered so quickly?"
"What?" Hu Yixian’s Adam’s apple moved slightly, his voice carrying an unintended tremor.
Quickly, he noticed the subtle changes in his body.
Qin Jingcen’s lips curved into a slight smile, his hand on Hu Yixian’s neck, pulling him into his arms, and walked towards the car they had come in.
"Let’s go home."
His tone was relaxed, with no sign of displeasure.
Hu Yixian always felt that this guy was up to something.
Though he hadn’t done anything wrong tonight, Qin Jingcen was not pleased.
Whenever this man was unhappy, he would torment him, either beating him up or bullying him to tears.
The branded fear in his bones made him cower.
Hu Yixian looked at Qin Jingcen with an inquisitive gaze, and seeing that he wasn’t really angry, he cautiously asked, "Jingcen, what are we going to do about Qin Mei and Qin Ruan?"
Thinking about the engagement and marriage mentioned by those siblings, he was concerned not only about the headache but also about his own safety.
Once Qin Ruan regained her memory and found out his identity, she would certainly flay him alive.
Qin Jingcen, dragging and tugging along Hu Yixian, casually asked, "What should we do?"
Hu Yixian looked at him playing dumb with a clear understanding, annoyed, "I sure as hell don’t want to marry you!"
Qin Jingcen’s expression was innocent as he tilted his head and asked, "Why not?"
Hu Yixian tilted his head back, exposing his Adam’s apple and his shortening hair.
He narrowed his eyes, and with his voice breaking, said, "You tell me!"
Qin Jingcen looked down at him, a dark glint passing through his pitch-black pupils.
He lowered his head, almost touching noses with Hu Yixian, his thin lips parting as he enunciated each word, "Having regrets now? It’s too late!"
His voice was deep, indescribably sexy.
It tingled Hu Yixian’s scalp as he listened, making him want to retreat backward.
However, Qin Jingcen’s hand had slipped down to his lower back, the pressure heavy, preventing any escape.
He gritted his teeth and demanded, "What do you mean by this?"
Knowing when to stop, Qin Jingcen created some distance between them and said with a nonchalant tone, "We’ve already met the parents, and Amei and Ruanruan know your identity. We have to finish this play.
My dad is not in good health, and if he can’t handle another shock, we, as his children, will be blamed for being unfilial. You’ve already become my girlfriend, so getting engaged and married is just a formality."
He glanced down, observing Hu Yixian’s gradually returning male form, and said with implied depth, "In the end, neither of us will lose out."
Hu Yixian was not swayed by his words, countering, "How can we not lose out? If I marry you, this marriage will be acknowledged by the rules of Heavenly Dao. When I leave one day, I will bear the debt of love, an eternal bond that will not be resolved for generations to come—that’s a big problem for me!"
Hearing about his departure, a grim shadow flickered in the depths of Qin Jingcen’s eyes.
He suppressed the violence welling up inside him, exhaled slowly, and asked with a gentle tone, "Leave? Where are you going?"
Hu Yixian’s eyes darted about, not very confidently, "I am a Nine-tailed Fox; I have to leave sooner or later."
The day Qin Ruan recovered her memories would be the day they left the Human Realm.
He could not possibly stay here forever.
Thinking of the eventual farewell, Hu Yixian felt a certain melancholy he couldn’t quite articulate.
Qin Jingcen responded with a noncommittal hum, possibly even a smile, and gently told Hu Yixian, "There’s such a thing as divorce in marriage; don’t trouble yourself with such thoughts for now, let’s go!"
He patted Hu Yixian on the shoulder, then hooked his arm around his neck and continued walking.
"Divorce is too much trouble."
Hu Yixian was still complaining and didn’t see the uncontrolled violence that raged in the depths of Qin Jingcen’s dark, abyssal eyes.
Qin Jingcen was very angry; he never knew Hu Yixian had thoughts of leaving.
However, there was no way he would let him leave so easily, severing their relationship completely.
If certain things hadn’t happened, and he hadn’t realized his true feelings, he wouldn’t be so obsessively concerned.
Now, following his true desires, he wanted to keep the little fox tethered to his side, but the other party insisted on escaping, which meant he needed to think of a way to tie him down.
Marriage wouldn’t be too bad, especially one recognized by Heavenly Dao; he liked that idea even more.
Half of Qin Jingcen’s handsome face hidden in shadow revealed a sly fox-like smile, full of significant meaning.
