Chapter 972: Verbally Trusting Science, But Abusing and Collecting Puppets Behind the Back!

Chapter 972: Chapter 972: Verbally Trusting Science, But Abusing and Collecting Puppets Behind the Back!

Qin Mei saw these people, his brows slightly furrowed, and he feigned displeasure, saying, "Why have you come?"

Liu Shao stood in front of everyone, his face plastered with a smile, "The more the merrier, right? If something really happens, we’ll have more hands to help."

Qin Mei glanced at these wealthy young masters, stroking the fur of Xueqiu in his arms, and cautioned, "If you see anything bizarre, something that can’t be explained by science, don’t freak out and don’t make a lot of noise."

"I get it, I get it."

"We absolutely won’t cause any trouble."

"Right, we all understand what’s going on."

With everyone’s assurance, Qin Mei walked with them step by step toward the hospital, filled with a sinister Evil Qi.

Inside the hospital’s main hall, Qin Ruan watched as the Underworld Envoys took one Undead soul after another away.

These frail children wore tattered clothing, their feet bare, obediently following the Underworld Envoys’ commands in an orderly fashion.

Before they left, they each glanced back, their eyes clear and lively because the Evil Qi had been absorbed by Qin Ruan, regaining the vivacity of children.

Qin Ruan’s red lips curled into a gentle arc, waving to them.

The children’s faces lit up with brilliant smiles, their eyes clear and innocent, retaining the naivety they should possess.

The little girl who had lost her limbs kept waving vigorously at Qin Ruan, her mouth opening and closing but unable to speak.

Qin Ruan understood what she wanted to say and softly told her, "Go, you’re free now."

The Underworld Envoy disappeared into the darkness with the tiny Undead souls, the temperature in the hall rose, and it was no longer chillingly eerie.

Min Zhenghao, Afeng, and Meng Jie, holding lighting lamps, revealed expressions of having survived a great ordeal upon seeing Qin Ruan.

Min Zhenghao asked Qin Ruan carefully, "Shall we leave this place first?"

It wasn’t that they didn’t want to leave; they always felt as if some Demon or Puppet Monster was watching them, and without Qin Ruan, they couldn’t even make it to the main gate.

Just as Qin Ruan was about to nod, she sensed something and her expression darkened as she sharply turned to look toward the direction of the door.

She felt people approaching, listening to the footsteps, there were quite a few of them.

Qin Ruan said to the three of them, "Go!" and led the way out.

Qin Mei and his group, who had already reached the hospital’s entrance, clung to the decrepit door, craning their necks to look inside.

The courtyard before them was littered with debris and weeds, along with some outdated machinery that came into their view, looking desolate and dilapidated.

Rong Jing, holding a lighting lamp, swept it over the door and said in a grave voice, "There’s blood on this, and it’s fresh."

At these words, everyone boiled over with excitement, crowding to get a look.

"Where? Where is it?"

"This place looks so desolate, it’s the perfect spot for murder and dumping a corpse."

"You seem to know quite a lot about it, you must have experience."

"Shut up, that’s called logical thinking!"

They were carefree, the sight of the blood handprints didn’t bother them much, and their conversation quickly shifted to other topics.

Qin Mei and Liu Shao walked up to Rong Jing, the flashlight from their phones illuminating the door, looking at the small blood handprint on it, feeling somewhat uneasy.

The blood of the handprint on the door seemed too viscous, slowly trickling down the blackened wood at a sluggish pace.

Qin Mei, who had been quite relaxed, tensed up at the sight of the blood handprint.

His expression was grave, his eyes expressing concern for Qin Ruan.

"Damn! There’s a shadow over there!"

Suddenly, an exclamation burst from the crowd.

Someone excitedly asked, "Where is it?"

"On the right, quick, look to the right, there’s a shadow there!"

"It really is, what is that thing?!"

As the existence of the shadow became apparent, the enthusiastic voices of the people gradually turned to panic and unease.

Qin Mei turned his head to look, and to their right in front of them, there was a shadow slowly creeping closer to them.

Their phone lights couldn’t illuminate where the figure was; from afar, all they could see was a vague human shape amid the shadows.

Suddenly, a thud sounded, as if something had fallen to the ground.

The noise burst forth suddenly, especially chilling in this already spooky and bizarre place.

"Damn it! That nearly scared me to death!"

"I want to go home."

"I want to leave too, what the heck is that thing?"

They all sounded quite scared, but not one of them took the initiative to leave; their eyes were all fixed intently on the dark figure.

Qin Mei looked down at Xueqiu who was lying on his arm and whispered into its ear, "What is that?"

"Meow—" Xueqiu stretched its front paws and yawned.

The sound was so lazily content it seemed as if it could fall asleep at any moment.

Qin Mei heard its meow, his eyebrows lifted slightly, and he understood instantly.

If it really was a Puppet Monster, Xueqiu would have been on edge a long time ago, not this lethargic.

He focused ahead, his eyes narrowed slightly, quietly watching as the other approached.

Someone else exclaimed, "It’s lit up! There’s light!"

As the shadow drew closer, three white dots suddenly lit up behind it.

Liu Shao, with his sharp eyes, guessed that those were phone flashlights like theirs, speaking with a hint of regret, "It doesn’t seem like a Puppet though."

Someone asked, "Is it really not a Puppet?"

The person beside echoed, "If it really were a Puppet, wouldn’t it have teleported right in front of us?"

"It’s still creepy to see this late at night."

"Right, why don’t we just head back to the car first?"

The faint-hearted were genuinely ready to call it quits this time.

It wasn’t just them who were scared; Min Zhenghao, Afeng, and Meng Jie on the other side were too.

The trio, upon seeing more than ten flashlights on the other side, would have normally been able to tell at first glance.

But having encountered Puppets multiple times tonight, their nerves were frayed, and they subconsciously assumed they had come across another Puppet.

The three grown men hid behind Qin Ruan, Min Zhenghao asked anxiously, "Are there Puppets in front as well?"

Meng Jie was near tears, "There are really quite a few Puppets in this hospital."

Afeng held his broken camera, lips tightly sealed.

With every step he took, his legs were trembling, terrified even as he walked.

Qin Ruan continued forward without looking back, speaking indifferently, "It’s not a Puppet, it’s a person."

Hearing her say it was a person and not a Puppet, the simplistic Min Zhenghao instantly breathed a sigh of relief, then it dawned on him, Qin Ruan was admitting the existence of Puppets.

He stepped up to walk beside Qin Ruan and whispered, "You used to say to believe in science."

Qin Ruan’s voice remained flat, "Did I?"

Min Zhenghao nodded vigorously, "Yes!"

Qin Ruan hummed, "We live under the sunlight, we should believe in science."

Min Zhenghao’s lips twitched, "If you hadn’t beaten up those Puppets with your bare hands, captured them, I might have really believed you."

Qin Ruan stopped in her tracks, her dark eyes growing even more obscure in the dark night as she stared at Min Zhenghao and asked in a cold voice, "If you tell others about Puppets, who would believe you?"

Afeng said weakly, "I believe!"

Meng Jie, clutching his wet pants, sobbed, "I believe too!"

Qin Ruan’s lips curved into a wicked smile, extending her hand to the three men, "Then you go tell those people over there that you just saw Puppets, ask them if they believe it."

The four people stopped in their tracks, leaving Liu Shao and his comrades on tenterhooks.

Yet Qin Mei stood in the way, not allowing them to get closer.

Qin Mei’s thoughts were simple: he feared that the shadow ahead was not Qin Ruan or the members who started this live broadcast.

Moreover, he had an inexplicable feeling that the hospital was laden with Evil Qi. Given that those who came with them were all noblemen, if they were affected by this Evil Qi and something were to happen later, it would be troublesome.

As Qin Ruan continued forward, she began to make out her second brother’s face through the haze.

She tentatively called out, "Second Brother?"

Upon hearing Qin Ruan’s voice, Qin Mei’s face broke into a smile, "Little sister, it’s really you!"

He held Xueqiu in his arms and stepped toward the desolate courtyard.

Qin Ruan shouted sharply, "Don’t come over!"
