Chapter 844: Ghost Emperor of the Five Directions: Where Did This Beauty Come From?
Chapter 844: Chapter 844: Ghost Emperor of the Five Directions: Where Did This Beauty Come From?
In the dark night, Qin Ruan’s Nether Divine Power coalesced throughout her body, enveloping her in a golden light that made her resemble a compassionate god, dignified and sacred, inviolable.
The chilly breath of yin that rushed at her face, could not touch her in the slightest. Only the Evil Qi, which had been tempered by Nether Power and could prolong life, was swiftly absorbed by her.
In the still air, an annoyed and disgruntled low howl sounded, barely audible yet clearly ringing in the ears.
Qin Ruan’s lips twitched slightly, and a cool, light sneer emerged from her mouth.
She stepped into the forbidden ground of Shengshi Academy.
Jin Ling’s soul was here, the scent growing ever stronger.
Qin Ruan scrunched her nose, sniffing the faint, fishy smell in the air, her complexion turning unsightly.
This scent carried emotions and desires.
Qin Ruan, with her worldly experiences, knew it all too well.
She paused in place, her eyes somber as she stared at the rows of bungalows before her.
The next instant, the lights blazed brightly inside the rooms in a row.
The light that came on inside the houses reflected off the ground beneath her feet.
The door to the room closest to Qin Ruan was opened from the inside, a red shadow drifting out from it.
The surrounding chilly aura grew a few degrees colder.
Qin Ruan lifted her gaze, and what entered her sight was a woman in red, a Puppet, with her hair tied in a high ponytail, giving off the first impression of being beautiful yet capable.
She carried no thick Evil Qi, nor did she have the blood fog aura of one who had killed; her soul was clean, not like a malevolent spirit.
The woman in red leaned against the door frame as if boneless, her seductive eyes fixated on Qin Ruan, revealing the Puppet Monster’s sinister and greedy depths within.
She gazed at Qin Ruan’s face for a while and then suddenly burst into teasing laughter, "Hehehe... my lord, we have a guest, and what a beauty she is."
The response to the woman was a restrained low moan.
Also entering Qin Ruan’s ears.
The sound from inside the room was indecent, unbearable, mingling indescribable temptations with deep resonance.
Qin Ruan’s gaze hardened towards the woman before her, and beyond her to the room, as the color of her pupils deepened.
As the noise inside the house grew louder, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
Is this a starving Puppet reincarnated?
In just a few minutes, by the sound alone, she could tell that the woman inside the room had changed three times.
In the blink of an eye, the woman in red by the door frame appeared right in front of Qin Ruan.
"Even your eye-rolling looks lovely, pretty girl. Where do you come from?"
The woman reached out and gently lifted Qin Ruan’s delicate chin, the coldness making contact with human warmth. The woman couldn’t help but let out a comforting moan, filled with desire and seduction.
Qin Ruan furrowed her brows, taking two steps back.
Her facial expression showed neither joy nor anger, and her tone was cold, "Please behave yourself."
The woman blinked in confusion, stunned: "..."
Then she burst out laughing, wrapping her arm around Qin Ruan’s waist as her red lips drew closer.
Just as Qin Ruan was preparing to take action, watching the woman’s face approaching closer, the latter spoke in a low, chilly, and icy voice, "Beauty, I am an Evil Puppet, that specializes in feasting on tender-fleshed, pretty young girls like you. You’re asking me to behave? Have you lost your mind?"
"Snap!"
The hand Qin Ruan reluctantly kept in her pocket, no matter how much she disliked it, eventually came out.
As she touched the cold air, the temperature from her hand dissipated quickly.
A flicker of annoyance crossed Qin Ruan’s eyes, her Golden Whip appearing in her palm and violently lashing out into the void.
"Snap!"
"Ahhh!!!"
The Nether Power concentrated on the Golden Whip launched through the air, attacking the Puppet Soul that was clinging to Qin Ruan’s body.
The entity, struck by the Nether Power, soared back several meters and fell to the ground in the brightly lit room across.
Qin Ruan’s delicate and pretty face revealed a coldness that ill-suited her otherwise docile appearance.
With the Golden Whip in hand, her aura unfurled with an impressive blend of coolness and swagger, her character marked by a stunningly heroic spirit.
The ambiguous and indecent noises from the room had ceased.
Qin Ruan continued forward, stepping with her booted feet, walking into the room with a leisurely pace.
She stood in the room, taking in the scene before her eyes.
The fallen Puppet Monsters were fully clothed, yet the sounds they made were provocative, making the unknowing think they were engaged in unspeakable acts.
Among them was a familiar face, the very Jin Ling she was searching for.
Qin Ruan did not pay attention to the others, stretching out her hand to draw the collapsed soul of Jin Ling towards her from across the space.
Jin Ling, trapped by the Nether Power, let out painful murmurs.
"Oh! Who is this beauty?"
A voice filled with mockery rang out from the next room.
Qin Ruan looked toward the voice and saw a tall, slim man in a white robe walking slowly toward her, his long hair spilling over his shoulders.
Qin Ruan’s eyes flashed with surprise. In the next moment, her expression changed dramatically, "The Eastern Ghost Emperor, Chu Zifeng!"
The man, surrounded by a celestial aura, looked interested upon hearing the way Qin Ruan addressed him, "Beauty, you recognize me?"
He walked over to a red-clad Puppet lying on the ground, his eyes filled with disdain, "What a disgrace. Get up, will you?"
The red-clad Puppet, covering the shoulder that had been attacked by Nether Power, floated up from the ground, her head bowed in shame.
Ignored by everyone else, the Eastern Ghost Emperor, Chu Zifeng, nonchalantly made his way to the center of the room where a luxurious couch was placed.
He flicked his sleeves and languidly reclined on the couch, his demeanor too casual and indolent to read.
Chu Zifeng was exceptionally handsome, enveloped in a celestial aura, his long, crow-colored hair and fair skin complementing his striking features, as if carved by a knife. His eyebrows were sharp as blades, and his eyes were like stars. His nose, noble; his thin lips curled slightly upward, forming a mysterious smile.
His gaze at Qin Ruan was sharp as a sword, filled with an intensity as if wishing to proceed with great haste.
Qin Ruan, looking at Chu Zifeng’s excessively pretty face, was momentarily stunned.
Confused thoughts began to swirl in her mind.
Logically speaking, she had never met Chu Zifeng, the leader of the Five Ghost Emperors.
And yet, upon seeing him, she was able to call out his name without hesitation.
Before her rebirth, she had dealt with the Underworld King in Purgatory, had seen countless souls of the Netherworld and Underworld Envoys, but she had never met any of the Ghost Emperors, who held a status equivalent to the Underworld King.
Not having met them didn’t mean she hadn’t heard of them.
The Five Ghost Emperors and the Underworld King are both under the rule of the Emperor of Fengdu and hold similar ranks. Despite her curiosity, she never had the opportunity to meet them.
The celestials are said to roam amidst the Five Ghost Emperors, and even though they dwell in the Underworld, they are almost like the immortals from Heaven.
They hold a higher rank than the kings of the Netherworld. Not even the Heavenly Emperor can command them, as they only obey one person: the King of the Underworld, the ruler of the mortals’ realm, the Emperor of Fengdu who governs the rules of life and death, fortune, and so on.
In his life, Chu Zifeng was a ghost hunter, and after death, he was taken in by the Emperor of Fengdu, given the charge of the Ghost Gate.
The Five Ghost Emperors may not be renowned, but within the Underworld, their status and power are undebatable. It is said that there are five entryways from the Netherworld to the Mortal World, located in the center, west, south, north, and east.
The Five Ghost Emperors guard these five directions.
Fragmented images flashed through Qin Ruan’s mind, Chu Zifeng’s figure alternating between blurry and clear.
She frowned, pressing a hand to her temple as the gold in her eyes shimmered ambiguously.
Chu Zifeng’s lips curved with pleasure, and he gestured to the red-clad Puppet beside him with a nod of his chin, "What’s all this about?"
