Chapter 805: Girl, What’s Your Mother’s Name?
Chapter 805: Chapter 805: Girl, What’s Your Mother’s Name?
So many people crowded forward, but Huo Yao, sitting in Old Master Huo’s lap, and Huo Anqi were not afraid.
The brothers, with their round, curious eyes, surveyed the strangers before them, their expressions calm and indifferent.
However, upon seeing the elderly man sitting next to their great-grandfather, the faces of the two brothers tightened.
Someone spoke up, asking, "Old Master Huo, have the two children been named yet?"
"Their mother has chosen their names. The eldest is called Huo Yao, and the younger is called Huo Anqi," replied Huo Hongxing, the father, with pride in his demeanor and voice.
Upon hearing this, the crowd turned to look at the woman standing beside Yunjiao.
At first, they hadn’t paid much attention to Qin Ruan, not only because she came from a humble background, but also because although today was purported to be her birthday banquet, in reality, it was an occasion for the Huo Family to introduce the fourth generation heir to the public.
Now, after hearing what Huo Hongxing had said, the attendees stared at Qin Ruan’s beautiful face, each lost in their thoughts.
The fact that the Huo Family’s fourth generation heir had its names chosen by a woman not yet formally inducted into the Huo Family was a great honor. Was it because Huo San was highly appreciative of his wife or because the Huo Family valued the daughter-in-law who had not yet entered their family?
"The names are good," the elderly man sitting next to Old Master Huo spoke again.
His voice was gentle, and his brown eyes stayed fixed on Qin Ruan, revealing a depth that was hard to fathom.
Old Master Huo was still smiling as he spoke with a deeper meaning, "The names chosen by the children’s mother are naturally good. Yunjiao has been unwell, I had thought I might never have grandsons in this lifetime, but he has done well."
The elderly man beside him fixed his gaze on Qin Ruan, the corners of his eyes crinkling with a smile as he gestured her to come forward, "Child, come here."
Old Master Huo also called out, "Yunjiao, come over and hold the children."
In front of others, he refrained from calling her Jiaojiao, always leaving some dignity for his grandson.
Qin Ruan, hand in hand with Huo Yunjiao, walked forward with composure.
As the two approached, those gathered around Old Master Huo, Huo Yao, and Huo Anqi consciously returned to their original seats.
Huo Yunjiao took the two children from their grandfather’s arms, who then took Qin Ruan’s hand and began to introduce her to the elderly man sitting beside him.
"Ruanruan, this is the Head of the Yan Family from Northern England. You should call him Grandfather Yan."
A brief thought flashed through Qin Ruan’s eyes as she obediently called out, "Grandfather Yan."
Yan, the Family Head, took the hand that Old Master Huo passed to him and patted the back of Qin Ruan’s hand, "Good child."
Ever since Qin Ruan had walked in, his eyes hadn’t left her.
He picked up a dark wooden box from the table and handed it to Qin Ruan, "I only learned of Yunjiao’s offspring when Old Master Huo invited me. Such a significant event, and he kept it well hidden. I came in a hurry, so this is a small gift for the children."
Qin Ruan looked to Old Master Huo, who nodded slightly. She smiled at the Head of the Yan Family, thanking him, "On behalf of Ayao and Anqi, I thank you."
The Head of the Yan Family let go of her hand, tilting his head towards Old Master Huo, "This child is good."
So good that one would want to make her their own.
Old Master Huo smiled proudly at his old friend.
His beloved grandson’s choice of partner, how could she not be excellent!
The Yan Family had moved to Northern England a hundred years ago, and over the years, the Yan Family’s overseas assets had become substantial, their influence having long permeated the noble circles of Northern England.
His eldest son, Yan Xihu, had married into the Royal Family, was bestowed the title of a first-class Duke, not just in name but in power, controlling a portion of the military power in Northern England.
Even the reigning queen held great respect for the Yan Family.
His second son, Yan Xirong, was the shrewdest businessman in Northern England, and due to decades of cooperation with the Huo Family, the Yan Family controlled the arms business related to the Royal Family and various noble powers in Northern England.
The Yan Family now possesses fortunes over a hundred times greater than the Royal Family, their wealth and titles and societal standing enough to be esteemed as honored guests in Northern England, the Yan Family is now an irreplaceable arm of strength for the Royal Family.
While the influence of the Yan Family in Northern England isn’t quite as substantial as the Huo Family’s position in the domestic Cabinet, it’s nearly comparable.
Regrettably, despite the might of the Yan Family, they are still viewed with suspicion by the Royal Family.
Their second son, Yan Xirong, is currently bedridden with illness, and elite doctors from various countries who have been consulted are unable to diagnose exactly what is wrong, only saying that he doesn’t have much longer to live.
Huo Yunjiao noticed that the gaze of Yan Yiqi, the Family Head of the Yan Family, towards Qin Ruan was somewhat odd.
His eyebrows slightly furrowed, and a contemplative light flashed in the depths of his eyes.
"Yunjiao, this young Madam looks kindly, and her eyes seem somewhat similar to the Family Head of the Yan Family."
One of the elders sitting in the VIP room spoke, his tone casual and his position that of a senior within the Aristocratic Family.
The words came out inadvertently, and Qin Ruan couldn’t help but look up once more, examining the elder sitting next to Elder Huo.
Yan Yiqi has one-fourth Northern England ancestry, deep brown eyes, slightly curly long black hair, and well-maintained facial features that make it obvious he’s of mixed race.
Qin Ruan’s appearance is distinctly Eastern, innocent yet alluring, and her captivating eyes are much like those of the Family Head of the Yan Family, giving off a calculating impression when she lifts the corners of her eyes.
They both have a similar pair of fox-like eyes.
"Fox eyes" typically refer to almond-shaped eyes with a slightly upward slant at the outer corners, making them appear square in the middle, with a lower set inner corner and a subtle upward tilt at the outer edges.
Qin Ruan’s gaze shifted subtly, her eyes exceptionally enchanting with a watery shimmer, that somewhat intoxicated veiled look making her appear especially seductive.
Yan Yiqi watched her, the same eyes gleaming with an undefinable depth, giving off an impression of immense cunning and shrewdness.
The VIP room fell silent, as everyone was reminded of a scandal from thirty years ago.
Huo Zhi, held in Huo Yunjiao’s arms, and Huo Anqi, also sensed that something was amiss with the atmosphere.
The two brothers exchanged glances, each revealing an emotion unfit for their young age.
The next moment, they spoke in unison.
"Ah——"
"Yiyah——"
Qin Ruan came back to herself, suppressed the unease in her heart, and turned to look at her two sons.
Huo Yao stretched out his arms, asking her for a hug.
Qin Ruan walked over to the elder, "Please give Ayao to me."
Huo Yunjiao handed the child over, his eyes still surreptitiously observing Yan Yiqi, who looked unfathomably calm.
Elder Huo chuckled lightly, "Looking at them, my Ruanruan really does seem to share a similar pair of eyes with the Family Head of the Yan Family."
Before anyone could respond, the door to the VIP room was pushed open from outside.
Huo Zhi stood at the doorway, bowing to the people inside, and quickly walked over to Qin Ruan, whispering softly, "Madam, Mr. Qin, the two young masters from the Qin Family have arrived."
Even though his voice was low, it was heard by everyone present.
Upon hearing that people from the Qin Family had arrived, Elder Huo quickly waved his hand, "Yunjiao, people from the Qin side have arrived, take Ruanruan and the children over, go greet your relatives."
"Yes, grandfather."
Huo Yunjiao nodded politely to the crowd, embracing Qin Ruan’s waist as they left.
Just as the two were about to step out of the room, a question from the Family Head of the Yan Family came from behind, "Girl, what is your mother’s name?"
