Su Wang and Li Zilan stood outside the car, anxiously watching her.

Shen Ran clearly returned with them, how could he be a puppet.

The latter was tense, swallowing nervously, "Xiaowu, are you sure?"

Qin Ruan leaned back on the seat, her eyelids half-closed, "The scattered limbs in the room, none belonged to Shen Ran. He wasn’t upstairs."

The broken bodies and the bloody scene filled Su Wang’s mind once again.

The inability to escape and the chilling anticipation of impending death left him gasping for breath.

Su Wang turned pale, suppressing his physiological nausea, and nervously asked, "What about Shen Ran? Where is he, is he in danger?"

Qin Ruan shook her head: "I don’t know."

Her hand rested on her protruding belly, her eyebrows slightly furrowed.

Seeing her discomfort, Huo Qiang bent over and respectfully suggested, "Madam, you appear unwell. Shall I get in contact with a doctor?"

Qin Ruan waved him off: "No need, I’ll be fine after a bit of rest."

With Shen Ran fate unknown, and the matter of the Huangjue Tree unresolved, she couldn’t simply return home.

The child was restlessly kicking within her womb; she needed a break.

Huo Qiang hesitated, expressing his concerns, "Madam, if the Third Master finds out..."

Qin Ruan sternly interrupted, "Then let’s make sure he doesn’t!"

Li Zilan, having encountered an unnatural event and learned of Shen Ran’s disappearance, tensed, radiating animosity and alertness.

Seeing Lan An and Lingfeng standing at a distance, her mind went blank, and she charged at them furiously.

"It was you! Was it you two who kidnapped Shen Ran?!"

Li Zilan grabbed Lan An by the collar.

The circular bloodshot patches beneath her eyes, her smeared make-up, made her face look both pitiful and ferocious.

Lingfeng stepped forward to prise off her hands from Lan An, retreating a step whilst stonily staring down Li Zilan.

With her face bereft of any expression and her eyes cold, she gave off a somber vibe.

Li Zilan redirected her anger towards Lingfeng, her eyes red and loudly yelled, "Where have you hidden Shen Ran?!"

Su Wang stepped up to her, reaching out to console her, "Zilan, keep your head, they’re friends of Xiaowu."

Since Lan An and Lingfeng were with Qin Ruan, it meant they were in the clear.

"Su Wang, Shen Ran is missing!"

Leaning on Su Wang, Li Zilan burst into tears.

"We’ll find him. We’re supposed to have hotpot tomorrow. He wouldn’t break his promise."

His hoarse voice lacked conviction, as even he didn’t believe his words.

"Zilan, stop crying. I will find Shen Ran."

Qin Ruan couldn’t stand to see Zilan cry so distraughtly and stepped out of the vehicle.

Her eyes red, Li Zilan asked her, "Really?"

Qin Ruan nodded in response.

Lan An stepped up and said to Qin Ruan, "You’re not well, let me go."

"Can you find him?"

"Yes, I left a mark on him when we met during the day."

Qin Ruan nodded in understanding, "Then I’m much obliged."

Lan An was disgruntled by Qin Ruan’s polite tone.

He silently stared at Qin Ruan for a long while, before eventually saying: "Wait for me."

With that said, his figure vanished from sight.

Huo Qiang, Lin Hao, Huo Zhi, and the others, were already used to this.

After all, the sheer excitement of what they had already seen and learned with Qin Ruan far surpassed this situation.

But for Su Wang and Li Zilan, their hearts nearly stopped out of shock.

The incomprehensible event taking place before them made them fearful and uneasy.

Their many years of perception shattered and rebuilt, they found themselves at a loss for words to describe their feelings.

Having lived in West City for eighteen years, Qin Ruan was all too familiar with this place.

Just a moment ago, she had felt something from the shadows of the alleyway eyeing her.

An insatiable and malicious gaze that even she found chilling to the bone.
