Chapter 677: Mr. Huo: I will not go back on my word.
Chapter 677: Chapter 677: Mr. Huo: I will not go back on my word.
Qin Ruan rested against the car window, her profile was gentle and beautiful.
The curve of her smile brought a hint of a young girl’s flustered charm.
Huo Yirong casually glanced at her, his foxy eyes slightly upturned, the smile on his lips deepened a bit more.
He was certain that Qin Ruan was thinking about his younger brother, so he didn’t disturb her further.
The Huo family’s car fleet continued to drive forward in the first snow of early winter, apparently speeding up slightly.
By the time they reached the Champs Elysees Manor, the ground was a silvery-white.
Before getting out of the car, Qin Ruan said to Huo Yirong, "Brother Rong, don’t leave. Stay the night here?"
"Sure."
Without much hesitation, Huo Yirong got out of the car with her.
As the pair opened the door to their room, a wave of warmth greeted them.
A fire was burning in the living room’s fireplace, where Huo Yunjiao was situated on the sofa, comfortably covered by a blanket from his waist down.
He wore a pair of glasses which he usually did not wear, held a book in his hands, his eyelashes slightly drooping, his fingers still maintaining the action of turning pages.
At the sound of the door being pushed open, Yunjiao, the Third Master of the Huo family, closed his book slowly with his slender finger.
He looked up at the latecoming Huo Yirong and Qin Ruan standing in the doorway.
After leading Qin Ruan into the room, Yirong released her arm and walked briskly toward Yunjiao.
Standing in front of the fireplace to warm himself up, he squinted his eyes and teased Yunjiao, "Third brother, still not sleeping at this hour? Afraid I’ll whisk our little sister away?"
The three masters sat casually, and every action exuded an inherent air of aristocratic elegance.
Upon hearing his elder brother’s words, a faint smile tugged at Yunjiao’s lips.
Ignoring the jab, he asked instead, "Hungry? There’s porridge in the kitchen."
"I am indeed hungry, I’ll go get something to eat!"
Huo Yirong headed straight for the dining room.
Despite the late hour, servants were still busy in the kitchen.
Upon seeing Huo Yirong walk in, they hastened to serve, "Second master."
Back in the room.
Qin Ruan, standing in the foyer, took off her coat.
She walked over to Huo Yunjiao, casually tossing her coat over the back of the sofa, then turned to face the man sitting across from her.
Perhaps it was the firelight from the fireplace illuminating Huo Yunjiao’s face, making his gentle features even softer.
The rich scholarly ambiance coupled with his aristocratic demeanor gave him the manner of a refined scholar-prince from ancient times.
Qin Ruan parted her lips slightly, asking, "Why are you still awake at this hour?"
Huo Yunjiao extended his hand towards her, the smile on his lips dazzling as he softly said, "I promised to wait for you to come back."
Qin Ruan didn’t pay attention to his reaching hand, instead turning to warm her hands over the fireplace’s outer rim.
Her voice was nonchalant as she asked, "If I’m out all night, would you stay awake the whole time?"
"No, I wouldn’t."
The gentle sound of Huo Yunjiao’s voice drifted slowly.
Her lips curved slightly upon hearing his response.
However, before she could reveal a content smile, she heard him say, "I would personally go and bring you back."
Qin Ruan turned around, her beautiful eyes widened as she fixed her gaze on him, "I didn’t realize you were so persistent."
Staying up late was harmful to his health and recovery.
Although Qin Ruan was moved when she got back and saw him waiting, she also felt a touch of resentment.
She would rather he not wait for her, and go to rest earlier.
Once again, Huo Yunjiao stretched out his hand to Qin Ruan, chuckling, "It’s not about being persistent, it’s about keeping my promise to you."
This time, Qin Ruan placed her slightly warmed hand into his.
Huo Yunjiao then pulled her to sit down beside him.
He draped the blanket from his lap over Qin Ruan.
A servant came in carrying a dark tray exquisitely carved with complex patterns.
After greeting Huo Yunjiao and Qin Ruan, he knelt down and gently placed the soup and porridge from the tray onto the table.
"The temperature is just right, madam, please take your time and enjoy."
"Thank you."
Qin Ruan thanked him as usual.
The servant bowed his head, took two steps back, turned, and left.
Huo Yunjiao picked up the soup from the table, his slender fingers holding the soup spoon, stirring gently.
He asked Qin Ruan, who was lounging on the sofa, "Would you like some soup to warm your stomach before we have the porridge?"
The latter lazily responded, her voice weak and breathless.
Back here, or perhaps because she was with him, Qin Ruan was in a state of relaxation, both physically and mentally.
Seeing her exhaustion, Huo Yunjiao held the soup spoon and brought it to Qin Ruan’s mouth.
"Ruanruan, would you like a sip?"
Qin Ruan obediently opened her mouth, drinking the moderately warm soup.
One was feeding her skillfully, the other was drinking the soup obediently.
Until half of the soup was finished, Huo Yunjiao again brought the soup spoon to Qin Ruan’s mouth, and she instinctively opened her mouth.
In the past, he would tilt the spoon as soon as she parted her lips so she could drink the soup without effort.
This time, the spoon stayed in front of her mouth, unmoved.
Qin Ruan looked up, staring at the elegant and distinguished man in front of her non-stop.
Huo Yunjiao squinted, a smile in his eyes.
He lifted the soup spoon in his hand to Qin Ruan’s view.
The spoon was empty, devoid of anything.
Qin Ruan did not expect he had such a playful side, she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
This made her laugh, a radiant smile spread across her face, a hint of mischief displayed on her raised lips.
The smile in Huo Yunjiao’s eyes receded slightly, he pinched the spoon in his hand, slightly tense.
His gaze was gentle and lingering on Qin Ruan’s lips.
Her cherry lips had water traces from the soup, which tempted one to wipe away.
Huo Yunjiao averted his gaze, placed the soup on the table, and picked up the bowl of porridge.
"If you finish the soup, there won’t be room for the porridge."
His voice was calm, as if the slight strangeness just now was an illusion.
Qin Ruan straightened her body and took the porridge from his hand.
Bringing the bowl to her mouth, she tentatively took a sip.
The temperature was just right, and the rich taste was very delicious.
Next, Qin Ruan showed no ladylike manners, she finished the porridge in a few gulps.
Even with Qin Ruan’s uninhibited actions, Huo Yunjiao’s gaze towards her remained gentle.
He took the empty bowl from her hand, his other hand faintly stroking her disheveled hair that was let down in the car.
Turning his head, Huo Yunjiao saw a bit of wetness at the corner of Qin Ruan’s mouth.
His deep eyes darkened, his gaze firmly fixed on that spot.
Unaware of the impending danger, Qin Ruan raised her hand to wipe her mouth.
Huo Yunjiao abruptly leaned down, lowering his head towards Qin Ruan to kiss the corner of her mouth.
The slight water trace was sipped into his mouth.
The cool touch lingered for a while, being savored carefully.
Thinking Huo Yunjiao wanted to share a passionate French kiss, Qin Ruan obediently parted her lips.
However, he pulled back at this moment, he arched his sexy lips into a shallow curve and whispered to Qin Ruan, "Second Brother is coming."
The words were whispered in Qin Ruan’s ear, so Huo Yirong, who was walking in, did not hear it.
Huo Yirong, seeing his younger brother sitting parallel to Qin Ruan, did not find anything unusual.
He sat across the pair, took a glimpse at the soup bowl on the table, and revealed a knowing look.
His teasing gaze fell on Qin Ruan, the innuendo clear, "Younger sister, it seems I can fill my stomach tonight by virtue of you."
At tonight’s banquet at the Fu Family, Huo Yirong had drunk a few cups but barely touched the food.
The kitchen had only prepared congee, and only after gulping down two bowls did his empty stomach felt a little comfortable.
The porridge was smooth and sweet.
He tasted just one spoonful before knowing it was specially prepared for Qin Ruan.
Qin Ruan touched the corner of her mouth silently but said nothing.
That kiss from Huo Yunjiao, although it felt cool, she still felt that the residual heat lingered there.
Huo Yunjiao held Qin Ruan’s hand, knowing she was still lost in her thoughts, and glanced at Huo Yirong.
He asked with a casual voice, "Second Brother, what do you think of the Fourth Miss Fu? Is she suitable?"
