Chapter 623: Chapter 623: Baby, come out quickly, your mother is working hard
Wei Xishi stayed in the Qingcheng Taoist Temple for a month.
A month later, the old temple’s leader took his last breath.
With a month of guidance from the leader, who he called master, he had grasped the basics of metaphysics.
Just when he was beginning to deepen his understanding, his mentor passed away.
From then on, the old and dilapidated Qingcheng Taoist Temple was left only to Wei Xishi.
The temple remained standing, never totally falling into decay under his care.
Wei Xishi became the thirty-sixth generation successor of the Qingcheng Taoist Temple and its only member.
His true understanding of metaphysical techniques was acquired during his one month of guidance from his master. Although he didn’t master all the nuances, his natural aptitude helped him at least grasp the basics.
Later, his family found him, and Wei Xishi left the Qingcheng Taoist Temple.
In the following years, he never forgot to devote himself to the further study of metaphysics.
Now, although somewhat accomplished, he was still inferior to the likes of Lun Wenbin and Qiao Nanyuan.
He was quite satisfied with his current achievement, a result of self-taught skills.
As long as the Qingcheng Taoist Temple didn’t end with him, that would do.
Liuliu was the next successor he found for the Qingcheng Taoist Temple.
Wei Xishi, with his hand on Liuliu’s shoulder, left the teaching building, followed by a chubby orange cat that wasn’t a bit shy.
Walking along, Wei Xishi contemplated a great deal.
He was self-aware that he wasn’t a match for the evil spirits of the Odi School.
It seemed it was time to seek help.
If he truly died here, the old bald-headed monk at Nanyin Temple would be overjoyed.
He hadn’t officially handed over the Qingcheng Taoist Temple to Liuliu yet, so Wei Xishi didn’t dare risk his life.
Two o’clock in the morning.
Champs Elysees Manor.
The vast manor was quiet, with only the occasional footsteps of the hidden guards on patrol.
In the upstairs bedroom, a faint vibration could be heard.
This disturbed the deeply sleeping Qin Ruan, causing her to stir restlessly.
A crease formed in her brows as she held her blanket tighter and turned over.
The disturbed Huo Yunjiao opened his deep eyes, glanced at Qin Ruan, her dissatisfied face, and gently embraced her.
The cellphone on the table continued to vibrate.
A slender hand reached over Qin Ruan to pick up the phone.
The caller ID displayed on the phone read: Lord Six of West City.
Seeing this name, deep thoughts sparked in Huo Yunjiao’s eyes.
He slid his finger over the phone and answered the call.
On the other end, a repressed irritable voice soon came through.
"Qin Xiaowu, young master Josh frequents my nightclubs every day recently, messing up my businesses. You better take this little guy away. If this continues, I’ll have to close all my venues."
"I just gave him a kick back then, scared him a bit; this kid holds grudges too much. He’s such a headache, but he comes from a high background — not to be hit not to be scolded..."
Lord Six’s tone was rather downcast. He was genuinely scared by Josh.
This kid simply didn’t play by the rules, causing a disturbance at his venues in West City.
Coldness flashed in Huo Yunjiao’s clear eyes.
He asked in a low voice, "What did Josh do?"
His deep, pleasing voice, resonant with the dominance of a high-ranking man, clearly transmitted into Lord Six’s ears.
Lord Six was momentarily lost for words.
Aside from when dealing with Qin Ruan, Huo Yunjiao’s patience had always been limited.
His voice was cold as a knife, chillingly dangerous: "Speak!"
Lord Six tentatively began: "Lord Huo Yunjiao?"
"Yes," responded Huo Yunjiao indifferently.
His hand lay on Qin Ruan’s exposed face, with a fingertip blocking her ear.
His considerate action was designed to prevent the conversation from waking Qin Ruan.
Lord Six began to sweat profusely on the other end of the line. His heart fluttered with fear when he confirmed that the man answering the phone was indeed Lord Huo Yunjiao.
He started uneasily: "Actually, it’s not a big deal. It’s just that young master Josh, being a little frivolous, perhaps being tired of high-end venues, has been frequenting the nightclubs in West City frequently."
"Lord Huo, as you know, there are all sorts of people in West City. He has been quite ostentatious in his partying, and now quite a few people in West City know his name. I’m afraid if this continues, it will lead to trouble."
Huo Yunjiao concisely enquired: "What has he done?"
Lord Six tactfully replied: "Nothing too outrageous, just a bit of mischief..."
"I just asked what he did."
Hearing the irritated tone of Lord Huo Yunjiao, Lord Six immediately sold out Josh: "Chasing girls, starting fights, monopolizing the venue, disrupting the nightclub’s normal operations, and... he doesn’t pay for his tabs."
With each incident that Lord Six mentioned Josh had done, a twitch ran across Huo Yunjiao’s forehead.
He slowly closed his eyes and in a calm and undisturbed voice, asked Lord Six on the other side of the phone, "Where is Josh now?"
Lord Six answered: "He’s right next to me."
"Put me on speaker."
Lord Six switched to speaker, and immediately Josh’s voice came from the other end: "Big brother?"
Josh had assumed that Lord Six was tricking him, but now he was beginning to think it might be serious.
He tentatively started to speak, his heart beginning to tremble.
If it was really his big brother, his good days were probably ending.
"It’s me," Huo Yunjiao’s deep voice spoke from the phone speaker.
"Josh, I will send someone to cover the losses you have caused Lord Six during this period, and also inform you to get back here immediately."
"You have one hour. If you are not back at the old house in an hour, I will leave you in West City forever."
From Josh came a clamor, "Big brother, no, listen to me explain. How could you listen to that cunning old fox!"
Huo Yunjiao didn’t want to hear his explanations: "You are not allowed to step into West City again."
As soon as he finished speaking, he hung up the phone.
Huo Yunjiao’s temples throbbed.
Josh, this boy, really never lived up to one’s expectations.
This annoying child never had a moment of peace. No wonder he had been so quiet recently. He had been wreaking havoc in West City all this time.
Qin Ruan moved a little, adjusting her comfort.
She raised her hand around Huo Yunjiao’s lean waist and asked in a soft voice, "Who was it?"
Her sleepy voice was laced with drowsiness.
She had woken up after all.
Huo Yunjiao’s finger caressed along her ear, touching her forehead. "It’s nothing much, just Josh stirring up some trouble again. I’ve already taken care of it."
"Oh."
Qin Ruan prepared to open her eyes. Hearing Yunjiao said that the problem had been solved, she went back to sleep.
Her chaotic breathing quickly evened out.
Her body pressed closely against Yunjiao’s; both were dressed in comfortable silken sleepwear, their skin essentially touching each other’s.
They could clearly feel each other’s body heat.
Even in her sleep, Qin Ruan held onto Yunjiao’s waist.
Huo Yunjiao returned his phone to its original place. His eyes lingered on Qin Ruan’s sleeping face.
This young girl was always hiding from him during the day, only this obedient when she was asleep.
He slipped a hand under the blanket, opening up Qin Ruan’s sleeping gown to touch the twins in her belly.
As soon as his fingertips touched the warm belly skin, the child gave a respectful nudge.
Feeling the child’s response, a faint smile tugged at the corner of Huo Yunjiao’s lips.
His entire person exuded a kind of indescribable soft aura, devoid of the cold demeanor he showed when facing Lord Six.
"Come out quickly, baby. Your mother has suffered too much."
The children in her belly shifted, as if responding to Huo Yunjiao’s words.
A delightful chuckle echoed in the room, with a pleasant tone.
