Chapter 601: As Obsession Dissipates, May Kindness and Love Be With You
Chapter 601: Chapter 601: As Obsession Dissipates, May Kindness and Love Be With You
Champs Elysees Manor.
Qin Ruan was lying in bed, sleeping on her side.
In the dark night, a faint voice echoed, accompanied by a subtle presence of evil qi.
She jolted awake, her sharp eyes piercing through the darkness, fixed on the direction of the balcony in her bedroom.
A figure was swaying there, slender enough to be mistaken for a woman.
Qin Ruan removed her arm from her waist, slowly sitting up, glancing at Third Master lying next to her.
He was breathing evenly, sleeping deeply.
In order not to disturb him, Qin Ruan left the bed barefooted and slowly walked towards the balcony.
"Who’s there?"
Her voice was soft, but loud enough for the figure on the balcony to hear clearly.
"Miss Qin, it’s me."
The familiar voice entered Qin Ruan’s ears.
The defensive posture she took and the emanating evil qi she prepared, vanished instantly.
Qin Ruan pushed open the curtain, gazing at the soul hovering before her eyes, and asked in confusion: "Li Manning, why are you here?"
Li Manning’s face lit up with a gentle smile, an aura of peace that came from seeing through the world’s vanity enveloped her.
She softly told Qin Ruan, "I am about to leave. I came to bid you farewell."
Qin Ruan constricted her eyebrows: "Leave? Haven’t you already entered the Netherworld?"
Li Manning stirred her fingertips and looked at Qin Ruan, full of gratitude.
"The Underworld King allowed me to be reincarnated, to be freed along with my child. He said all of this was done on your account."
Leaning against the window frame, Qin Ruan gave a light chuckle, "You’re indeed lucky."
On her account?
Qin Ruan didn’t believe the sly Underworld King could be so generous, clearly he was using her as a shield.
From the moment Li Manning’s hands were stained with blood, the Netherworld had opened up a convenient pathway for her. She had seen all the preferential treatment given to Li Manning once she entered the Netherworld.
Li Manning knew nothing about this. She was extremely grateful to Qin Ruan, attributing everything to her merits.
With a serious tone, she spoke, "Thank you for all the care you’ve given me before. There’s no way to repay this kindness. If there’s a next life..."
"Stop!" Qin Ruan hastily interrupted, "Don’t talk about the next life. When a person dies, it’s as if a light goes out. In this life, our connection ends here. There is no afterwards."
Li Manning was taken aback, stunned by Qin Ruan’s indifference.
Qin Ruan’s gaze swept over her casually, the smile on her lips deepening a bit.
She slowly spoke, "Li Manning, before you go, let me give you a piece of advice. Life is a hastened journey, starts and ends, ups and downs, the wheel of life spinning continuously. Most people spend their lives living for themselves."
"When crossing the Naihe Bridge, engrave these words into your bones. May you not seek glory in your next life, but live the life you wish for."
Li Manning’s eyes filled with tears of blood, which poured forth unceasingly.
With laughter and tears, she said, "Yes, yes, live the life I want. I’ll take your good words."
Qin Ruan’s pale lips drew up a lazy smile, waving a hand at her, "Go, everything in this life no longer has anything to do with you."
Li Manning nodded heavily, "Qin Ruan, thank you, truly."
"There’s no need to thank me. This is the destiny you are meant to have. May goodness and love accompany you as you let go of your obsessions."
Li Manning responded, showering Qin Ruan with words of gratitude.
Her exuberant soul gradually weakened, turning transparent, and eventually disappearing from Qin Ruan’s sight.
Li Manning was once the brilliant queen of the film industry.
She led a glamorous life, standing on a peak that most people never reach.
She was always in a position envied by others. Who would know the hardships she endured?
Reincarnation and forgetting past life’s dust is the only way to completely escape all this.
Li Manning, I sincerely wish you well, may you find peace in your next life.
Qin Ruan straightened her body, walking towards the edge of the balcony.
She adjusted her robe, the cool, night breeze blowing at her. The sleepiness that had gripped her earlier had long faded.
The night sky was brilliantly studded with stars, illuminating the vast continental lands.
Qin Ruan looked up, gazing at the countless stars in the sky.
The sky was filled with twinkling stars, and one particular star had caught her attention.
It was the Emperor Star.
It may not be the brightest star, but it was the only one that captivated her gaze.
"Ruanruan?"
A husky voice with a touch of sexy sensuality echoed in the room.
Qin Ruan turned around to look through the dim curtain, seeing Lord Three sitting up in bed.
"I’m here."
She retrieved her hand placed on the railing, turning around to enter the room.
Huo Yunjiao caught sight of Qin Ruan walking in from the balcony, making him slightly stunned.
Seeing her scantily-dressed, his face darkened, "Why don’t you put on more clothes? Be careful not to catch a cold."
"It’s okay, I just needed some fresh air." Qin Ruan sat down by the side of the bed.
She was naturally resistant to cold and during her days in West City when she couldn’t get enough food or warmth, to her, these were less critical than life and death.
The current season was not too cold. The evening breeze was nothing serious to her, it even helped clear her thoughts.
Lord Three covered Qin Ruan with a blanket. "Next time, wear more."
"I understand."
Qin Ruan touched the blanket. It still held Lord Three’s body heat, dispersing the chillness she felt from the breeze at the balcony.
Huo Yunjiao lazily yawned, leaned back onto the headboard, his beautiful face revealing a trace of fatigue.
He glanced at the time -- 2 o’clock in the morning.
Recalling Qin Ruan mentioning her need to get some fresh air, he couldn’t help but guess that she might be in a bad mood.
He was now worried about this girl who acted impulsively when upset, often talking about running away from home.
With such a big belly, if she were to move around recklessly, any mishaps would be too late for regrets.
Huo Yunjiao gently squeezed Qin Ruan’s hand, asking in a warm voice, "Why are you staying up late on the balcony? Not feeling happy?"
Qin Ruan didn’t know the impact she had on Lord Three previously.
She shook her head in denial, "I just woke up abruptly and couldn’t fall asleep."
Huo Yunjiao caressed her hair lovingly, with an air of comfort.
"Can’t sleep? Shall I keep you company and chat?"
Qin Ruan looked up at his pale face and the fatigue in his eyes - it touched her heart.
Despite his own exhaustion, he still wanted to accompany her.
Qin Ruan declined verbally, "No need, I’m feeling sleepy now."
She laid down, reaching out naturally to hold the man’s waist, then slowly closed her eyes.
Huo Yunjiao felt her breathing, the warmth blowing on the skin beneath his clothes.
If he had been fully conscious, perhaps his thoughts might have been a bit disordered.
At this moment, he could barely keep his eyes open.
Exhaustion overcame him, and he fell asleep again.
He adjusted the blanket around Qin Ruan, his arm draped around her waist, pulling her closer to him.
When he felt her enlarged abdomen bump against his abs, he held Qin Ruan tighter and drifted off to sleep satisfied.
As Qin Ruan closed her eyes to rest, Lord Three’s even breathing echoed in her ears.
In the darkness, the corners of her lips slowly curled into a faint smile.
Qin Ruan didn’t know when she fell asleep.
When she opened her eyes again, it was already 9 o’clock in the morning.
In the spacious room, she was alone.
She reached out to touch the space beside her on the bed.
Unexpectedly, it was already cold.
Lord Three had been up for a while.
Qin Ruan remembered the previous night when Li Manning came to bid her farewell.
Presumably, she had already crossed Naihe Bridge, drunk the water from Wangchuan River, and embarked on her new life.
