Chapter 597: Playing Clever Will Only Lead You to Destruction

Chapter 597: Chapter 597: Playing Clever Will Only Lead You to Destruction

The black Evil Qi flowing from Qin Ruan’s hand appeared at Xiaoqiao’s side near Xiaoguang.

Before leaving the Huo family, she intended to deal with this issue.

She entered the greenhouse for fear that the Master would be harmed by the ghostly aura.

Even the slightest possibility was not permitted for her.

The black energy rose slowly into the air and quickly took the form of a brutal puppet.

Xiaoqiao’s eyes swirled with a crimson glow. Her face was hideously twisted, and a ghastly aura pervaded throughout the greenhouse.

The pots of precious plants closest to her trembled slightly.

Qin Ruan glanced displeasedly at the trembling plants affected by the evil Qi, her red lips pressed together unhappily.

She looked sternly at Xiaoqiao and said coldly, "I advise you to show some restraint. If any plant in here dies because of you, I will make sure you and Xiaoguang can never reincarnate!"

This greenhouse belonged to the Master.

Huo Chuan had told her that every plant here was collected from all over the country by the Master.

If any of them died, it would all be Xiaoqiao’s fault.

"Xiaoguang is dead, he’s gone! What’s your point of saying all this now? You’re also a woman, carrying a child in your stomach. Why are you so cruel?" Xiaoqiao said with a wrathful voice.

"Is it me who is cruel, or is it you and Xiaoguang who are brutally ruthless in your methods?"

Qin Ruan’s intense gaze was like a sharp blade piercing Xiaoqiao’s body. "Just to save you, how many innocents has Xiaoguang harmed? How many lives has he stained his hands with?"

Shooting murderous glares, Xiaoqiao retorted fiercely, "Those people deserved to die!"

Qin Ruan’s expression instantly hardened. "Nobody deserves to die. Everybody has their own destiny. In this lifetime, everyone must pay a price for their actions!

Even the worst villains have their own life path; it’s not for you to decide their fates. You’re just making excuses for your own slaughter!"

"No! That’s not true!" Xiaoqiao shrieked back in denial.

Her jet-black hair floated up on its own, her entire body thick with evil energy.

Xiaoqiao pointed at Qin Ruan and shouted angrily, "You’re the killer! You killed Xiaoguang!"

Qin Ruan leaned on her hand which rested on the table, her body relaxed in the chair.

With a faint smile, she said, "I didn’t even need to lift a finger for a small puppet like him. All I did was purify him; his spirit and soul have yet to disperse."

"You’re lying, I saw him fade away, all at once!" cried Xiaoqiao, her voice trembling with anger, her eyes full of hatred.

She firmly believed that Qin Ruan was deceiving her.

She wanted to fight Qin Ruan, but she knew she was no match for her and thus she could only stand in place, letting out uncontrolled shouts of rage.

The hand Qin Ruan rested on her leg was offered to Xiaoqiao, and in her hand was another sphere of black fog.

It didn’t form a complete sphere like Xiaoqiao, just a thinly scattered mist.

Even so, it was enough for Xiaoqiao to know from its scent that it was indeed her Xiaoguang.

Upon learning Xiaoguang was still present, Xiaoqiao rushed towards Qin Ruan like a mad woman: "Give him back to me!"

Qin Ruan spoke slowly with a hint of pleasure: "Don’t come any closer. Careful, or else I might crush it. Then it will truly become nothing."

Xiaoqiao, who was about to reach her, immediately halted.

She did not dare to take another step forward, for fear that Xiaoguang would vanish completely because of her.

On Qin Ruan’s hand, which controlled Xiaoguang’s fate, the sphere of black fog in her palm changed shapes with every movement of her fingers.

Qin Ruan lowered her eyes to look at the black fog, her deep, dark eyes revealed an icy, devouring coldness.

She asked Xiaoqiao nonchalantly, "I’m giving you a chance to make a clean breast of everything. How did Xiaoguang manage to keep an eye on me?"

The relationship between Xiaoguang and Xiaoqiao was clear; Xiaoguang was the mastermind behind it all.

Everything had been planned.

Xiaoguang was the key to everything.

Shock flashed across Xiaoqiao’s face for only a moment before she denied, "No, Xiaoguang didn’t do anything."

Qin Ruan tightened her fingers, and the black fog in her palm shrank accordingly.

"Don’t do it!" Xiaoqiao spoke, her voice trembling.

Qin Ruan raised her head, her face was pallid and terrifying, her eyes fixed on Xiaoqiao, depicted a clear intention to kill.

"If I were you, I would confess everything honestly, to grasp a chance of survival. Acting smart will only hasten your death along with Xiaoguang’s!"

Xiaoqiao was weighed down by the oppressive air released by Qin Ruan. She trembled in fear.

She knew she should confess everything honestly at this point.

However, once spoken, it would mean a sure doom for her and Xiaoguang.

Two lines of bloody tears streamed down Xiaoqiao’s face, her voice choked out, "I’ll speak, I’ll speak!"

She began slowly, telling Qin Ruan everything that had happened over the past half year, from beginning to end.

Xiaoqiao was indeed from the Zhenpin Pavilion, her name was Shao Qiao.

Before going to the Zhenpin Pavilion, her family was wealthy, they were considered a small wealthy household.

Unfortunately, they offended the Nangong family, and in one night, they fell into ruin.

Every young person in the Shao family was sent to the Zhenpin Pavilion, and they had lost contact with all their elders.

Shao Qiao stayed in the Zhenpin Pavilion for five years.

At the beginning, she resisted, but eventually succumbed due to the Pavilion’s torturous methods.

During these five years, she saw the darkness of the Zhenpin Pavilion.

The young men and women held captive there were not treated as humans.

They were mere commodities, less valuable than the expensive carpets on the Pavilion floor.

Anyone could command them at will.

Shao Qiao had spent five years in the Zhenpin Pavilion, and was no longer innocent.

The horrific experiences she went through made her lose her initial desire to survive at the Zhenpin Pavilion.

One morning, she woke up in a familiar room and looked at a stranger lying next to her. Suddenly, an idea came to her mind.

Perhaps from the incessant torture, or maybe it was the stranger’s gray hair and nauseating wrinkles on his face.

Shao Qiao pushed open the window of the room.

Ignoring her messy and wounded body, she wore nothing but a chilly uniform nightgown provided by Zhenpin Pavilion, the fabric of which was pitifully scant.

Carrying all her courage, Shao Qiao jumped down.

If she died, then it would all be over.

Unfortunately, she did not die, as she was caught by the balcony on the second floor.

Shao Qiao chose the wrong way. She did not know that when she was in despair, someone was working hard to rescue her out of the fire pit.

It was here that Xiaoguang appeared.

Xiaoguang came into her sights when Shao Qiao was horribly tortured and half-crippled.

Upon seeing him, she realized that if she had just waited one more day, she would’ve been able to leave the Zhenpin Pavilion properly.

Fate had played a cruel joke on her.

To make her meet Xiaoguang when she was badly injured.

Shao Qiao had often fantasized if she hadn’t impulsively chosen a dead end that day, would she be living happily with Xiaoguang by now?

However, there were no if’s in this world.

Xiaoguang was Shao Qiao’s childhood playmate, his family used to be wealthy as well.

During Xiaoguang’s elementary school years, his parents failed in their investments, and the family had to leave the Capital City.

Many years had passed, and due to a twist of fate Xiaoguang ended up joining the Yin Yang Sect, becoming a Mystic Master.
