Chapter 543: San Ye cares about Qin Ruan more than imagined

Chapter 543: Chapter 543: San Ye cares about Qin Ruan more than imagined

Huo Yunjiao watched Huo Chuan’s retreating figure fade away, a brilliant light flickering in his deep eyes.

He sat upright, emanating an aura of scholarly elegance.

In his fair-skinned, slender hand, with well-defined bones, he twirled a signature pen.

Lin Hao stood within the study, subtly feeling a rising oppressive sensation within the room.

This aura was radiating from the man seated at the desk.

Time slowly passed.

The oppressive feeling emanating from the man grew ever more intense.

Just when Lin Hao was on the verge of succumbing to the powerful pressure, Huo Chuan returned again.

He walked into the study, approached Huo Yunjiao, and respectfully bowed his head. "Third master, the second master said he will personally handle the Lu Family matter and asked you to spend more time with madam."

Huo Yunjiao chuckled, a heartfelt laughter seemingly due to his brother’s considerate actions.

Glancing at the time, he abruptly stood up.

Huo Yunjiao straightened his shirt, strode around the desk, and headed for the exit of the study.

"Madam should have finished her meal by now, I’ll go downstairs to check."

Hearing this, Lin Hao and Huo Chuan hastened to follow.

Upon exiting the study, Huo Yunjiao cautioned them, "When we arrive at the Nangong’s, guard madam well, don’t let her see some scenes she shouldn’t."

"Yes, Third Master."

Two voices responded in unison from behind him.

What constituted scenes she shouldn’t see?

After years of provocations from the Nangong Family, the opportunity had finally arrived for a settle of accounts. Given the tactics of the Huo Family’s hidden guards, it was certainly going to be a bloody spectacle.

Madam was currently carrying a child, some scenes were not suitable for her to witness.

Downstairs.

Qin Ruan, having eaten her fill, sprawled contentedly in her seat, untidily rubbing her stomach.

Recently, she hadn’t cared much about maintaining her image. She simply did whatever felt comfortable.

After four months, her belly was growing increasingly round.

Eating so much each day; all the weight went straight to her stomach.

When Qin Mei and Josh entered the dining room, they saw Qin Ruan gently gazing at her belly with soft eyes.

"Ruanruan, when will the two little ones in your tummy crawl out?" Qin Mei said.

Qin Ruan raised her head and glared at him. "Crawl? You try crawling out!"

Seeing his sister displeased, Qin Mei quickly corrected his wording, "Birth! Birth!"

He sat across from Qin Ruan, placing Xueqiu from his arms onto a nearby seat.

His eyes were fixed intently on Qin Ruan and her rapidly expanding belly.

"How much longer until they’re born? Each day feels like a year," he said.

Qin Ruan squinted and smiled: "If I’m not in a hurry, why are you?"

"Of course I’m in a hurry. I’m still waiting to name them."

Qin Mei was still concerned about the task of naming them.

Upon hearing this, Josh intervened, "Hey, my cousin will be naming them. Why are you butting in?"

The child in his cousin’s wombs was the legitimate heir of the Huo Family.

They were the fourth generation of the Huo Family, their birth marked an immense significance.

The maternal grandfather’s side was undoubtedly eagerly waiting to name the child.

Josh even had a sneaking suspicion that his maternal grandfather might already have the names planned out.

Qin Mei widened his eyes, glaring at Josh, "I’m the child’s uncle. Why can’t I join in on the fun?"

Josh looked at Qin Mei, surprised by his thick-skinned remark.

He’d grown up abroad and learned from his mother about the Huo Family’s emphasis on legitimate heirs.

Otherwise, the current heir to the Huo Family wouldn’t be his third cousin, but his eldest cousin.

Josh cast a stern look at Qin Mei and for once spoke seriously, "You’re aware that you’re only an uncle. My cousin is the child’s father, my maternal grandfather is the child’s great-grandfather.

Then there’s my elder maternal uncle, who’s the child’s grandfather. With so many elders still alive, it won’t be your turn to name the babies."

"This..." Qin Mei was rendered speechless.

All of a sudden, he seemed to have a stroke of inspiration. Standing tall, he pronounced: "Fine, I’ll choose their nicknames! Surely I should have a part in that!"

Suddenly, Josh’s train of thought aligned with Qin Mei’s.

He blinked: "I am the child’s cousin. Don’t I also have the chance to name the child?"

"You?" Qin Mei sneered: "Even as a cousin, we’re miles apart. How could you be closer than me, the child’s uncle?"

"You’re just an uncle too, why can you name the child and I can’t?!"

Josh was not satisfied.

The two started arguing about naming the child.

The noise from the argument gave Qin Ruan a headache.

She stood to leave, seeing the Third Master approaching with his entourage.

"What’s all this arguing about?"

The stern, low voice echoed in the dining room.

The noisy Qin Mei and Josh went quiet almost instantly.

Huo Yunjiao approached the dining room, noticing the slight frown on Qin Ruan’s face.

He cast a cold look at Qin Mei and Josh.

"Don’t you have something better to do?"

The Third Master’s icy gaze sent a chill up Qin Mei and Josh’s spines.

They sensed an eerie and intimidating aura from Huo Yunjiao.

Joshs’ uneasy gaze met his cousin’s icy eyes, and a chill ran from his feet to his heart.

He quickly shook his head and said anxiously: "I still need to go train at the shooting range, I’ll leave first, cousin!"

Josh ran off faster than a rabbit, quickly disappearing from sight in the dining room.

Qin Mei also noticed his brother-in-law’s ominous aura.

Huo Yunjiao still looked normal, but was missing his usual gentle demeanor.

Looking up at Huo Yunjiao, Qin Mei felt a strange sense of danger.

His survival instincts made him even more alert.

Qin Mei looked left and right, confused: "Where’s Xueqiu? She was just here a moment ago."

He ignored the white cat sitting on a nearby chair, and casually strolled out of the dining room.

"Xueqiu? Where’ve you run off to, Xueqiu?"

Xueqiu gazed at her litter box officer with her bright green eyes as he walked out of the dining room.

She opened her mouth: "Meow?"

Even though Xueqiu’s meow was clear, Qin Mei didn’t seem to hear.

Still heading out of the dining room, he even quickened his pace.

He kept mumbling: "This fellow really is a handful, out of sight in a blink of an eye."

Xueqiu became anxious: "Meow, meow-"

She suspected her master was going blind.

The quick-thinking Xueqiu jumped off the chair and chased after her litter box officer.

Huo Chuan and Lin Hao watched as Qin Mei feigned ignorance and left.

The corners of their lips twitched.

Did he really think everyone present was a fool?

Standing by the dining table, Qin Ruan couldn’t help but burst into laughter: "Third Master, there’s no need to scare them."

Huo Yunjiao’s chilly eyes gradually turned warm.

He walked towards Qin Ruan: "You’ve been spoiling them too much. They are so insensitive; they can’t even tell that you’re not feeling well and continue bickering around you."

Surprised, Qin Ruan did not know how the Third Master found out she was not feeling well.

She insisted: "I feel perfectly fine; there’s nothing wrong with me."

"Liar!" Huo Yunjiao stood in front of Qin Ruan, pointing at her with his forefinger.

"You look pale and your brows are still furrowed."

He stroked Qin Ruan’s furrowed brows, leaned in and whispered in her ear: "Did you eat too much and now your stomach hurts?"

At his words, Qin Ruan’s ears turned red; a blush crept up her cheeks.

This man was terrifying.

He was too observant, pinpointing her discomfort exactly.
