Chapter 459: Chapter 459: Did Young Master Qin get Kidnapped by a Cat?
It wasn’t until these past few months of interaction, that Qin Ruan’s abilities, her mystery, and the warmth she brought to her master slowly persuaded the people of the Secret Guard Department.
The credit, for this, goes to Huo Chuan, Huo Zhi, and Huo Qiang’s group of three.
These were the leaders of the Huo family’s Hidden Guard. Their attitude towards Qin Ruan was the guiding wind for everyone else.
A touch of sarcasm appeared on the rough face of Huo Chuan, directed not only at Bei Jinzhou but also at his old self from a few months ago.
"I remember now!"
Shen Junjie exclaimed suddenly.
The sound was loud and passionate, drawing the attention of many.
Under the pressure of the Huo family’s Hidden Guard, Shen Junjie looked at Qin Ruan with panicked eyes.
He swallowed, nervously saying, "Qin Mei was holding a cat when he came to the bar that day, a white cat. I have no idea when he became so sympathetic or suddenly interested in cats."
Heard this, Qin Ruan frowned slightly. Her second brother had brought a cat to the bar?
She could not picture such a scene.
Shanzi, who was standing nearby, scratched his bald head and interjected, "Yes, that is correct."
Qin Ruan looked over at him.
Shanzi seemed to want to smile but held back because his superior was present; his brutal expression made him look even scarier.
He was completely unaware and casually stated under everyone’s watchful gaze, "There indeed was a lad holding a cat at the bar that day. I’ve been watching the place for years, and it’s the first time I’ve heard of someone taking a cat to enjoy themselves."
Qin Ruan had no idea that her second brother likes pets.
Whether it was in her previous or current life, she never saw her second brother show any affection for small animals.
Qin Ruan had mixed feelings and asked Shanzi, "Did you also see that cat?"
Shanzi shook his head, "I wasn’t there at the time, and I did not see the cat. The people below told me about it. When I came out, they were already fighting, so I didn’t notice the cat."
Shen Junjie nodded: "I actually didn’t care about the girls that came with Qin Mei that day. What struck me was his affection for the cat. I found it inexplicably annoying, but it was just an excuse to pick a fight."
Qin Ruan fixed him with an icy stare: "And then what?"
Shen Junjie shivered slightly: "Then we started fighting. After the bar security separated us, we were having some drinks and feeling wronged, planning to get back at Qin Mei after leaving the bar. But he ran off halfway."
Qin Ruan’s eyebrows twitched slightly: "How did you know he ran off?"
"We had someone see him leave the bar whilst holding the cat."
Qin Ruan turned her head, her cold gaze falling on Bei Jinzhou, "I want to see the video of my second brother leaving the bar."
"Of course."
Bei Jinzhou ordered his subordinates, and they quickly brought up the video footage of Qin Mei leaving the bar.
Qin Ruan walked to the monitor, watching her second brother holding the cat, leaving amid a dense crowd.
The animal in his arms was a white cat.
The cat curled up in Qin Mei’s arms, looking very docile.
The man and the cat walked out of the Yejue Club’s entrance. The white cat then sprang up, dropping to the ground and running off to the right.
That was the direction of the littered alley where the club’s garbage was dumped.
In the video, Qin Mei hesitated for a moment, then lifted his foot to go look for the white cat.
While looking for the cat, he found a public restroom and then vanished into thin air.
Qin Ruan stared at the monitor where her second brother disappeared once again, pressing her pale lips together tightly.
Huo Chuan walked up to her and asked softly, "Madam, do you want to take a look in the alley for any clues?"
"Let’s take a look."
Qin Ruan paced towards the outside of the Yejue Club.
The sky was dark, and the alley was littered with trash, empty bottles were everywhere, with unidentified liquids splashed on the ground.
The Yejue Club, with its opulent decoration and magnificent style, hosted numerous people of high social status every day for their pleasures.
None of them would have imagined that just next door, there was such a dirty, messy, and chaotic alleyway.
The filth here reminded Qin Ruan of the streets of West City, where she had lived for eighteen years.
Qin Ruan stepped on the filthy ground, the smell of various confounding spirits and the pungent odor produced by long-term fermentation assaulted her nose.
"Madam, be careful where you step."
Huo Chuan reminded Qin Ruan at the side.
Qin Ruan gazed downward, she was about to step into a yellowing puddle, not knowing if it was an alcohol spill or the remains of someone relieving themselves indiscriminately.
Qin Ruan frowned and stepped over the puddle, treading upon the damp ground.
The familiar trash can from the surveillance video quickly caught Qin Ruan’s eye.
She stopped in her tracks, her icy, indifferent eyes surveying her surroundings.
Besides the stinging odor of garbage, there was also a faint aura of gloominess in this area.
The remnant of a wicked spirit’s presence.
A cold light flickered in Qin Ruan’s eyes, her delicate face turned sinister, and a threatening sense of pressure emanated from her.
Qin Jingcen came to her side, lowered his voice, and asked, "Ruanruan, is it related to those things?"
The inexplicable disappearance of their brother was too peculiar. He couldn’t help but associate it with supernatural events.
"Roughly," replied Qin Ruan in a cold voice.
She couldn’t be 100% certain yet, but judging from the scene, her brother’s disappearance was very likely related to the wicked spirit’s machinations.
Arriving with his subordinates, Bei Jinzhou covered his mouth and nose with a clean handkerchief.
He frowned as he looked around, the disgust clearly visible in his eyes.
Bei Jinzhou’s gaze fell on the slender figure of Qin Ruan standing in front of him.
He suggested, "Mrs. Huo, it has been confirmed that Mr. Qin’s disappearance has nothing to do with our Yejue Club. This matter seems eerie, would you like us to call the police for you?
Qin Ruan could hear the schadenfreude in the other party’s tone, she replied without looking back: "No need!"
With her back to Bei Jinzhou and the others, she quickly formed a spell with her hands. Golden light radiated from her hands, swiftly permeating around the trash can where Qin Mei had disappeared last night.
Qin Ruan closed her eyes, capturing the remnant traces of the wicked spirit in the air, trying to find some clues from it.
"Meow-"
A cat meowing sounded beside her ear, which made Qin Ruan’s eyebrows twitch slightly.
She pricked up her ears and listened attentively.
"Meow, Meow-"
The meowing of the cat reached Qin Ruan’s ears again, crystal clear.
She even saw the image of her brother holding that white cat in her mind.
It was a cat as white as snow all over without a single blemish.
It had a pair of jade green eyes; its vertical pupils as cold as a snake, sent chills down anyone who looked at it.
Qin Ruan’s gaze met the white cat’s eyes in her mind.
"Meow!!"
The white cat suddenly let out a harrowing cry, and its figure instantly faded into nothingness.
Qin Ruan, standing in the alley, quickly opened her beautiful eyes.
Her gaze was icy, and her expression was grim: "Found it!"
A clear murderous intent was evident within her smooth and melodious voice.
...
In a certain residential building, a harsh cat’s cry rang out.
"Meow!!"
"Meow, Meow, Meow!! "
The sixth floor.
A girl wearing a pink nightgown, hearing the wretched cries of the cat at home, thought that something had happened and quickly stepped out of the bedroom.
"Xueqiu, what’s wrong with you?"
In the not so spacious living room, a snow-white cat was visible.
All of its fur was standing on end, its tail stood stiff, and its jade-green eyes were staring at the window in the living room.
With its hair bristling up and looking fearful, it looked as if it was facing its natural enemy.
