Young Master Is Being Jealous Again! -
Chapter 413: Never Married, A Lonely Man Until Death
Chapter 413: Chapter 413: Never Married, A Lonely Man Until Death
Huo Yunjiao sat up on the bed, pressing his hand to his forehead.
He began to ponder whether the decision to share the bed with Qin Ruan was right or wrong.
How does it feel to have dug a pit and then jump into it himself?
After all, he had broken the chastity vow and had normal physiological experiences.
Was he supposed to act like an ascetic monk, having no reactions at all?
Anxiety crept over his face while the feeling of helplessness welled up in his eyes.
He was not worrying about Qin Ruan’s flight but was troubled by the need to rely on the Fifth Princess again.
...
After leaving the room, Qin Ruan spotted Li Manning hovering near a window in the distance.
The outside was bathed in bright sunshine, but she was basking in it without the extreme reactions typical of ordinary souls.
Puppets originate from the souls of the Underworld, which are negative lifeforms.
Encountering strong sunlight usually results in spontaneous combustion of their soul bodies, causing damage to their Puppet Power.
Li Manning was unafraid of the sunlight, indicating that her Puppet Power had increased significantly.
She was not a newly deceased soul, nor even one several decades old.
Seeing Qin Ruan, Li Manning immediately drifted over: "At last you are up."
She had been waiting here all night, passing the time as the moon hung high in the sky.
She exhausted her patience waiting from dawn till the time when the sun was well up in the sky.
Qin Ruan composed herself, her rosy cheeks calming, and said earnestly, "Sorry to have kept you waiting."
The flutter she’d felt from the Third Master was carefully concealed.
Li Manning asked eagerly, "When are we leaving?"
"As soon as I finish breakfast."
Qin Ruan, unsure of what attitude she should take towards the Third Master, was also eager to get going.
Two months of sharing a bed with him nearly made her forget that Huo Yunjiao is a normal man.
Li Manning followed Qin Ruan down to the restaurant.
Upon meeting Huo Zhi at the bottom of the stairs, Qin Ruan told her she was leaving soon and asked her to prepare a car.
Huo Zhi made the arrangements immediately.
As Qin Ruan was finishing her breakfast, Huo Yunjiao entered the restaurant with Huo Chuan.
His gentle gaze fell on Qin Ruan, who was sitting at the breakfast table, and he asked, "Are you going out?"
Qin Ruan continued sipping her soup and responded with an, "Hmm".
Huo Yunjiao sat down next to her and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
His voice softened in a way it never had before, whispering, "Be careful outside. It has been quite unsafe recently. If you like Lin Hao, you can keep him by your side. He is not a threat."
Mentioning Lin Hao, Qin Ruan paused.
She lifted her eyes to gaze at the handsome face of the man beside her and asked in puzzlement, "Did Lin Hao really attempt to assassinate you?"
"Hmm," Huo Yunjiao replied casually.
Qin Ruan furrowed her delicate brows, analyzing, "I always think that you wouldn’t keep Lin Hao by my side if he were so dangerous, not even if you spared his life, unless there’s some inside story I’m unaware of."
Huo Yunjiao playfully ruffled Qin Ruan’s hair, his velvety voice tinged with laughter, "Lin Hao is Su Jingshu’s bodyguard, and a person favored by her."
Qin Ruan exclaimed in shock, "Lin Hao is the lover of Yan Ge’s former fiancé?!"
She seemed like she had unearthed a massive secret.
Huo Yunjiao replied, chuckling, "Yes, and quite a favored one at that."
"Then the man who cuckolded Yan Ge before..."
"Not Lin Hao. That guy was also Su Jingshu’s bodyguard, and she has long since thrown him into the sea to feed the fish."
Qin Ruan was silent for a while before giving a thumbs up, "How ruthless!"
Huo Yunjiao playfully pinched her ear, his voice nonchalant, "The Su Family knew they wouldn’t be able to kill me using Lin Hao. They handed him over to us to deal with."
Qin Ruan was puzzled again, "Why did the Su Family let the Huo Family deal with Lin Hao?"
Huo Yunjiao responded, "There’s a spy in the Su Family."
Qin Ruan, her brow furrowed, couldn’t comprehend, "Who’s the spy?"
"The person who sent Lin Hao to assassinate me indicates that the Su family suspects he is a spy for the Huo Family."
"So, is Lin Hao a spy?"
"What do you want to hear, girl?"
"I hope to hear the truth, Third Master."
Huo Yunjiao released his hold on her earlobe. Looking at her with serene eyes, he replied, "Given last night’s circumstances, Lin Hao had to die, regardless of whether he is affiliated with the Huo Family."
Although Qin Ruan had her suspicions, she couldn’t interpret the meaning of his words, "Why?"
Huo Yunjiao pursed his lips, his other hand rhythmically tapping the table. He said in a low voice, "The Su Family has spies within the Huo family, and likewise, the Huo Family has people arranged by the Su and other families."
This information bewildered Qin Ruan, who assumed that the tightly controlled Huo Family couldn’t possibly have spies from other families.
"Does the Third Master know who they are?"
Huo Yunjiao nodded slightly, "I do."
Confused, Qin Ruan asked, "Why haven’t they been eliminated?"
"Cleaning things up might be a temporary solution, but keeping a close eye on him eliminates major worries," Huo Yunjiao commented.
"Sounds complicated." Qin Ruan chuckled, wrinkling her smiling face. "So, you’re just going to let it go after Su Family tried to assassinate you?"
With a cold, mocking laughter, Huo Yunjiao replied, "My second brother already arranged for a nice gift to be sent to the Su Family last night. It’s called reciprocity."
Qin Ruan blinked and asked curiously, "What gift?"
Huo Yunjiao extended a hand to Huo Chuan behind him and took the tablet that was handed over.
He pulled up the news from last night and showed it to Qin Ruan, "Su Jingshu’s mother had a car accident last night."
The headline was ’The Wife of a Certain Businessman, a Woman with the Surname of Su, Has a Car Accident After Midnight During an Affair.’
Qin Ruan continued reading, looking at a photo of a man and woman passionately kissing in a luxurious car.
Then there was another photo, a man in a white shirt was about to throw a woman to the ground.
The upper left corners of both photos showed close-up shots of the couple.
Pretty impressive, carrying on such a passionate affair while driving a car.
And as for that situation about to get physical, seemed like it wasn’t during the drive, but seemed more like a live broadcast.
Couldn’t they have their rendezvous in a hotel instead of putting on this distasteful display under surveillance?
The key was the third photo, where both the man and the woman were driving.
However, the woman was driving something else, not the car.
It looked like she was searching for something, leaning towards the driver’s seat so much that the surveillance camera couldn’t capture her upper body.
The man, on the other hand, was driving with one hand on the steering wheel.
His other hand was resting on the head of the woman with the surname Su.
Gazing at that "Su," Qin Ruan asked in confusion, "Does Su Jingshu’s mother also have the last name Su?"
With a cryptic look in his eyes, Huo Yunjiao responded in a nonchalant tone, "That’s his aunt, and also his mother."
Qin Ruan’s brows furrowed, her mouth twitched slightly, and she looked at Yunjiao’s serious face, "Is it what I think it is?"
"Yes and no." Huo Yunjiao chuckled and explained, "Su Jingshu’s mother has no biological connection to the Su Family Head. It’s merely a nominal title."
"Alright then."
The disgusted expression on Qin Ruan’s face faded.
If Su Jingshu’s birth history was a breach of ethics and morality, that would be thoroughly revolting.
Of course, the repulsive ones weren’t her, since she had no control over her birth. The ones to blame were the Su Family Head and Su Jingshu’s mother.
Reading on, Qin Ruan realized that the whole article did not conceal Su Jingshu’s mother’s identity.
She looked up at the man sitting by her side and asked, "Under normal circumstances, such news should be suppressed. It was intentionally done by the Huo Family, right?"
"How else would I inflict such a loss on the Su Family?" Huo Yunjiao replied as a matter of course.
Qin Ruan nodded subtly, musing that this was quite a ruthless move.
After putting the tablet on the table, she grabbed a napkin and wiped her lips.
In the course of these actions, she pondered over everything Yunjiao had told her.
Placing down the napkin, Qin Ruan swiveled her head towards Yunjiao and asserted, "I understand. Lin Hao must be one of Huo Family’s people. But last night, you had to make it seem like you wanted to eliminate him due to some people from Su Family being present.
But was Huo Qiang really looking to terminate Lin Hao last night? If I weren’t there, would Lin Hao have died?"
Huo Yunjiao, his eyes shining with admiration and a smile playing on his lips, replied enigmatically, "What do you think?"
"I presume you wouldn’t have gone so far to kill Lin Hao," she replied confidently.
Her voice of certainty lightened the smile on Huo Yunjiao’s face, warming his heart.
Gazing at Qin Ruan with soft eyes, he teased, "Do you trust me that much?"
Qin Ruan nodded, reaffirming, "I believe that the father of my child won’t carry the burden of guilt for killing an innocent."
Perhaps due to the seriousness and perseverance in her tone, Yunjiao decided not to keep toying with her, "Huo Qiang and his crew didn’t know anything. Lin Hao would have been taken to the Punishment Hall, but the people in the Punishment Hall are all mine."
A radiant smile graced Qin Ruan’s tense face, "I see."
As long as Yunjiao did not allow innocent blood to stain his hands, longevity wouldn’t be hindered.
Qin Ruan heaved a sigh of relief. She hoped that this man would live a long, healthy life and be there for her and their child.
Huo Yunjiao, not aware of Qin Ruan’s worries, said gently, "I didn’t know Lin Hao knew you and was attached to you. Now at least there’s a legitimate reason for him to appear openly. This is turning a bad thing into a good thing for him. After all, it ended up burning a hole in your pocket back then. Else, if anyone had dared to bully my Ruanruan, wouldn’t I be left all alone in my later life?"
The words were filled with mock and jest, yet they carried a faint hint of flirtation by the end.
Qin Ruan dismissed Yunjiao’s playful attempt to lure her. Frowning, she reprimanded, "Yunjiao, don’t talk non-sense."
In a past life, this man indeed never married and lived alone until he died.
But that’s not entirely true. After he died, he was buried next to Qin Ruan and their child. In that way, they were a reunited family of three after all.
Remaining silent, with a faint smile, Yunjiao often found it hard to comprehend Qin Ruan’s superstitions.
It puzzled him that sometimes, she seemed indifferent to human life, yet at other times, she was quite persistent.
Changing the course of the conversation, Qin Ruan asked, "If I hadn’t shown up last night, what would have happened to Lin Hao next?"
"He would have been sent away overnight," responded Yunjiao.
Qin Ruan pouted slightly, "As expected, big families have so many issues. My father was right all along."
Upon hearing his father-in-law mentioned, Yunjiao asked out of concern, "How has your father been doing lately?"
Qin Ruan replied, "He’s doing pretty well. As long as he gets regular check-ups and no issues come up, he should live a long life."
