Chapter 407: Master Huo: You are brave enough to lay a hand on my third brother

Chapter 407: Chapter 407: Master Huo: You are brave enough to lay a hand on my third brother

Sounds echoed eerily throughout the room, too peculiar to be put into words.

It wasn’t a human scream, but a sinister sound resembling some kind of impact.

A subordinate by Lu Han’s side immediately cursed, anxiously asking, "Chief Lu, what is that noise? It’s bloody terrifying."

The door of the Li Family house was wide open, a thick smell of blood billowing out from within.

Lu Han’s face darkened as he gripped the weapon in his hand tighter: "Let’s go in and check!"

The boss had spoken, and the men behind him promptly obeyed the command.

Just as they were about to charge in, Lu Han stretched out his hand to stop them: "I’ll go in first, you all follow behind."

With that said, he stepped into the Li Family house.

Upon entering the hall, the smell of blood was so potent, assaulting their senses, that ’overwhelming’ seemed an understatement.

The scene inside was horrific, everywhere they look was drenched in blood.

Qin Ruan had just settled into the car when a shadow flitted by, it was Li Manning who said she had one last thing to do before leaving with her.

Seeing her appear, Qin Ruan slowly closed her eyes, quietly instructing Huo Chuan, who was in the driver’s seat, "Drive, let’s go home."

She was so tired, and missed the comfortable bed of the old man.

Huo Chuan acknowledged, started the car, and drove away at a leisurely pace.

Just as the Huo Family vehicle left, Lu Han and his subordinates, who had just stepped into the Li Family hall, fled out in haste.

Among them, including Lu Han, many began to retch.

They were all veterans who had been through countless cases, yet they had never seen such a horrific, haunting crime scene.

A human purgatory was no less than this.

The scene was brutal, bloody, terrifying, pushing the limits of human vision.

One of the older-looking staff members, wiping the corner of his mouth, walked over to Lu Han with a grim look: "Chief Lu, what should we do next?"

Recalling the scene he had just witnessed, the complexion of this seasoned staff member was ashen.

Despite having a rather calm exterior, Lu Han’s face was turning green, clearly the previous scene had left a heavy shadow on him.

He pursed his lips, his face devoid of color: "Gather the technical staff first, it’s best to bring all hands on deck, I fear they’ll be overwhelmed."

"Alright, I’m on it!"

After his subordinate left, Lu Han felt a surge of acid in his stomach. He turned around and began retching again.

It was too cruel, this would likely be the most terrifying and bloody crime scene in his life.

Just how deep the hatred and resentment must be, to butcher a mother in such a gruesome way.

Lu Han raised his eyes, staring in the direction where the Huo Family car had disappeared.

He wasn’t sure if it was just his imagination, but ever since he met Qin Ruan, unnatural incidents seemed to crop up frequently around him.

How bizarre.

...

The Huo residence.

Mr. Huo, wearing simple, comfortable pajamas, was standing at the entrance of the small building.

He was leaning delicately against a nearby column, his posture noble and elegant, but his face did not look good.

Mr. Huo looked sideways at the man across from him who was restrained by Huo Qiang. The man was kneeling on the ground, with a hostile look on his face: "A good dog indeed, but unfortunately not our own."

His voice was dangerously low, and his cold eyes shone with a dangerous light, creating a chilling and terrifying look.

The man on the ground was covered in blood, staring defiantly at Mr. Huo with a fiercely stubborn look in his eyes. He looked like he would rush to tear Mr. Huo apart as soon as Huo Qiang released him.

Huo Qiang had restrained the man’s arms and was pushing him down on the ground. His tone was respectful but carried a hint of coldness: "Mr. Huo, this man is Su Jingshu’s bodyguard and is currently favored by her. His name is Lin Hao."

Mr. Huo’s lips curled up in a smile. His face was adorned with a faintly discernible smile: "Lin Hao... a name suggesting nobility, elegance, and broad-mindedness. Such a wonderful name, what a pity."

His voice was gentle and low, his tone pleasant to hear.

The final word ’pity’, when heard by Huo Qiang and the surrounding hidden guards of the Huo Family, suggested this bodyguard of the Su Family was unlikely to survive.

Indeed, in the next moment, Mr. Huo gave a dismissive wave of his hand and said, "Dispose of him."

"Yes!"

Huo Qiang, holding Lin Hao as if he were a mere chick, dragged him towards a patch of lawn not far away.

Huo Yirong arrived home just in time to see this scene.

"Second Master."

Seeing the person blocking his path, Huo Qiang halted, his tone respectfully calling out.

Observing Huo Qiang’s actions, Huo Yirong raised an eyebrow lightly, a subtle hint of a smile appearing on his face.

His gaze shifted downward towards the dispirited Lin Hao, as he asked with a smile: "What happened here?"

Huo Qiang respectfully replied, "This man attempted to assassinate Mr. Huo while he was out and was caught red-handed by us."

This information was like a bolt from the blue to Huo Yirong.

He handsomely pulled an earlobe, pointing incredulously at Lin Hao, who was lying on the ground like a dead dog, and asked with a laugh, "He, tried to assassinate my younger brother?"

"Yes!" Huo Qiang nodded.

"Ha-ha-ha..." Huo Yirong couldn’t help but laugh out loud, as if something ridiculously funny had happened.

To think there would actually be someone in Capital City bold enough to attempt assassination on the next head of the Huo Family—an intriguing turn of events.

Should he consider this act too much of a jest or that some people have started to see the Huo Family as harmless feline creatures.

At the Nangong Family’s wedding between Nangong Chang and Xiao Wenrou, Ling Xuzi mentioned that his younger brother couldn’t be considered the target of an assassination because the culprit was the Yin Yang Sect, the demonic Qi that leaked from them had aggressed his younger brother’s body, triggering his illness.

These were just their conjectures, and no conclusion has been made yet.

But now, someone trying to assassinate his younger brother was an utterly far-fetched idea.

Who did Capital City belong to? It was the area of influence centered around the Huo family and the other three major families.

Anyone attempting to assassinate Mr. Huo in Capital City would be declaring war against the Huo Family.

After laughing, Huo Yirong strolled over to Lin Hao, maintaining his composed demeanor.

He looked down at Lin Hao, who was tall and sturdy, with a resolute face. This man was clearly nobly spirited, but at the moment bore a haggard face- quite expectant of death.

Huo Yirong had a charmingly disarming demeanor, eyes subtly curved in a seemingly harmless affluent pose.

However, in the next second, his face turned icy. He lifted his foot and kicked towards Lin Hao.

"Thud!"

A dull sound echoed.

Huo Yirong didn’t hold back, his kick throwing Lin Hao onto the cobblestone ground, freeing him from Huo Qiang’s control.

He retracted his foot, maintaining his usual composed and extraordinary demeanor.

Huo Yirong’s eyes flashed with malice, he stared intently at Lin Hao, his gaze was so dark and dangerous it induced chills in anyone meeting it.

"You’re bold, daring to lay hands on my younger brother. Whose man are you?"

The last question was directed at Huo Qiang.

The latter promptly informed Lin Hao’s origins.

Hearing he was from the Su Family, specifically Su Jingshu’s much favored bodyguard, Huo Yirong’s lips curled in an ambiguous smile.

He exclaimed in an unclear tone, "So he’s the abandoned son tossed out by the Su Family, eh."

If not for being an outcast, why else would anyone charge at the Huo Family? This was quite clearly sending someone to their death.

Lin Hao got up from the ground and charged at Huo Yirong again, forming fists with his hands and swinging at him.

Huo Yirong’s eyes flickered with contempt. He easily dodged the attack and when Lin Hao prepared to strike again, he kicked at the crook of Lin Hao’s leg.
