Chapter 342: To move against Third Master is to make an enemy of the entire Huo Family

Chapter 342: Chapter 342: To move against Third Master is to make an enemy of the entire Huo Family

Huo Yirong’s seriousness seemed to puzzle Nicholas.

Nicholas couldn’t understand why the brothers would reject an arrangement that only required a formality from the Huo Family and wouldn’t put Master Huo in any danger from the Vampire Wraiths. Besides, the Bolin Family even promised to provide a lucrative business opportunity.

Regardless, Nicholas wasn’t prepared to push it any further.

Wrapping his arm around Huo Yirong’s shoulder and smiling, he assured, "No next time."

Huo Yirong sneered with a mocking expression, "Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. If your sister gets involved with my younger brother, no one knows whether the Vampire Ghosts will harm him or not.

If my brother’s safety is at stake, the Huo Family won’t tolerate even the slightest mishap. You should understand that anyone or any force threatening my brother is making an enemy of the entire Huo Family."

Nicholas casually retorted, "It’s not that serious. The wizards of the Bolin Family have verified that the Vampire Ghosts can’t harm anyone who carries the Emperor Energy, the noblest and most distinguished life destiny."

Huo Yirong coldly glared at Nicholas, "Are you 100% sure it won’t cause any harm?"

That was indeed something Nicholas couldn’t guarantee, and neither could the Bolin Family. Nicholas fell silent.

Huo Yirong pushed Nicholas away. He asked coldly, "Are you going to leave now or wait until tomorrow?"

Nicholas turned around and looked at the people he brought with him. His gaze lingered on a tall figure.

He pursed his lips, then said to Huo Yirong, "We’ll leave tomorrow. Let us stay here for the night."

Huo Yirong: "We don’t have a room ready for you, so you’d better arrange it yourself."

Nicholas patted Huo Yirong’s shoulder, "Good brother, thanks!"

Huo Yirong deftly stepped aside and his voice held a warning, "Stay away from my younger brother."

Nicholas: "Sure, sure."

Huo Yirong appointed Huo Chuan to oversee the arrangements for Nicholas and his party. He specifically commanded him to house the Bolin Family far away from the rooms of Huo Yunjiao and Qin Ruan.

Upon receiving his orders, Huo Chuan took the group away.

Huo Yirong stood on the deck, his eyes cold as he asked Josh, "Did you notice anything?"

Josh shook his head in confusion, then hesitated and nodded.

He found it astonishing that anyone would set their sights on his third cousin.

Every member of the Huo family, including his mom, cherishes his third cousin, treating him even more delicately than an ancient princess.

Indeed, his third cousin was more ruthless than his second cousin, yet they saw him as incredibly fragile.

If his grandfather, uncles, and his mother found out that someone dared to target his third cousin, the Huo Family would turn upside down.

Huo Yirong raised his eyebrows slightly, looking at Josh with a much gentler gaze as he asked, "What did you notice?"

Josh replied, "Second Cousin, you’re planning to hide the Bolin Family’s plan against my third cousin from Grandfather and my uncles because of your longstanding friendship with Young Master Nicholas."

With every word that Josh spoke, Huo Yirong’s expression darkened.

Unable to hold back his anger, he kicked at Josh’s leg, "You little brat, have you learnt how to tattle?"

"No, I swear! I wasn’t going to tattle!"

With a wronged expression on his face, Josh dodged Huo Yirong’s attack.

Huo Yirong’s expression was terrifying, his gaze sharp as he glared at Josh. A sinister smile appeared at the corner of his mouth, "So, you’re threatening me?"

"No, absolutely not!" Josh kept shaking his head.

He dared not admit it, but he indeed had some intention of it.

Huo Yirong snorted disdainfully, his gaze shifting over to Qin Mei, who was deep in thought.

"Young Master Qin, did you notice anything?"

Upon hearing the question, Qin Mei pointed at himself, "Me?"

"Hmm."

Huo Yirong’s voice shrouded in an air of weariness and ennui.

Qin Mei wore a devil-may-care expression, but his demeanor turned solemn as he thought.

After a moment, he said in a low voice, "I believe there’s something off about Young Master Nicholas. There must be a catch for him to stay."

Huo Yirong’s face lit up with interest as he heard this, "How did you figure it out?"

Qin Mei frowned, "I can’t explain it. It’s just a feeling. I don’t know whether it’s an illusion. He looked at his bodyguards three times before, and I glanced over them, but I didn’t find anything wrong. I just felt there is something amiss."

Huo Yirong complimented him, "Young Master Qin has a keen eye."

Qin Mei waved his hand dismissively, "Oh, I just never liked his face. Thinking about him trying to steal my sister’s fiancé through his own sister, I’ve been keeping an eye on him."

Huo Yirong found his straightforwardness charming, and a genuine smile crept on to his face.

"Don’t worry, my younger brother won’t let your sister down. Don’t overthink it."

He moved forward and patted Qin Mei’s shoulder then turned to him and Josh, "You two should get some rest early. If you hear any noises tonight, try to stay in your rooms."

Josh asked timidly, "Second Cousin, will there be any danger tonight?"

Huo Yirong gently messed up Josh’s blond hair, reassuring him, "I can’t tell. But try to avoid leaving your room."

Josh clung to his arm, sounding resolute, "Then I want to stay with you!"

Huo Yirong raised an eyebrow, "Are you worried about me, or just looking for some excitement?"

Josh didn’t dare to admit it was both. He looked longingly at Huo Yirong.

Huo Yirong pulled Josh’s hand away from him, "Go back and rest early. I have to find your third cousin," as he walked away without glancing back.

Once he left, Josh and Qin Mei’s faces immediately transformed.

The two made eye contact, their eyes sparkling with excitement.

Josh squinted, displayed a mischievous expression as he lifted his chin at Qin Mei, "Hmm?"

Qin Mei was also very interested and he nodded vigorously, "Hmm!"

Neither of them divulged the details of their secret pact, but they both smiled in satisfaction, as though they’d agreed on something.

...

Huo Yirong reached the door to the room where Huo Yunjiao and Qin Ruan were staying in.

"Knock, knock."

He knocked on the door.

"Who is it?"

It was Qin Ruan’s voice coming from inside the room.

"It’s me, sister, is my brother asleep?"

No sooner had Huo Yirong asked the question than the door was opened from inside.

It was clear that Qin Ruan had just taken a bath, as she was wearing comfortable home clothes and was drying her hair.

She stepped aside to allow Huo Yirong into the room, "Master Huo is in the shower, you can come in and wait."

"Is it alright?" Huo Yirong didn’t go in. Instead, he stood there, looking at Qin Ruan.

The young girl seemed even younger in her cozy outfit.

Clearly, she was over twenty years old, yet she still looked so young. It was no wonder people often misunderstood her age.

"What’s not alright? Come in."

But it wasn’t Qin Ruan who said this. It was Huo Yunjiao who had already come out of the bathroom.

Only after hearing his brother’s voice did Huo Yirong step into the room.

Master Huo’s hair was neatly dry, and he’d changed into the same comfortable sleepwear as Qin Ruan.

Sitting inside the room, he picked up a tablet from the table and started browsing through the news he’d missed today.

Huo Yirong approached him, sat down beside him, then asked without any preamble, "What happened?"

"It seems Nicholas has brought Leslie."

"How did you figure that out?"

Master Huo’s voice was calm. He didn’t even lift his head, and his tone indicated he wasn’t particularly surprised.
