Chapter 324: The True Identity of Fu Jin, Minmin’s Honest Confession
Chapter 324: Chapter 324: The True Identity of Fu Jin, Minmin’s Honest Confession
Ignoring the intense murderous intent Minmin directed towards her, Qin Ruan calmly asked, "Why did you decide to turn yourself in today?"
This time, Minmin didn’t refuse to answer, "Someone told me that I could find Han Kexin here."
Qin Ruan: "Who was it?"
Minmin pressed her lips together, refusing to speak further.
Qin Ruan asked again, "Since you killed Han Kexin, why didn’t you do away with her on the spot last night?"
The hostility in Minmin’s eyes was clear to see. Qin Ruan’s words had touched a raw nerve.
Her expression dark, she retorted, "That’s none of your business!"
"Shall I take a guess then?" Qin Ruan’s lips curved into a smile.
She walked towards Minmin, slowly speaking, "From what I’ve gathered from last night’s crime scene, the murderers of Han Xian and Han Kexin should be more than just you. I can see you’ve only taken one life. Which one of Han Kexin or Han Xian did you kill? Who killed the other?"
Minmin’s eyes wavered and panic was evident on her pale face.
Yet she still vehemently denied it, "It was just me, there wasn’t anyone else!"
Qin Ruan smiled, "I didn’t say that your accomplice was a human. Maybe it’s a half-puppet, half-demon evil entity like you."
"Are you trying to trick me?!" Minmin seethed.
"No, I’m just making deductions, and you’ve let something slip."
Qin Ruan’s gaze turned to Han Xian and the soul-restored Han Kexin, "Do you remember who Minmin’s other accomplice was?"
With a ferocious expression and dense resentment permeating her, Han Kexin was showing a faint hint of turning into an evil puppet.
She uttered word for word, "It was Fu Jin!"
"Fu... Jin?" Qin Ruan enunciated each character slowly. This name carried an unfathomable sense of complexity and depth as it slipped from her lips.
Han Kexin’s eyes blazed with a stunning red light, causing unease.
She gritted her teeth, "Yes! That man approached me with ulterior motives, he and Minmin are in collusion! They’re both non-humans!"
"Fu Jin? This name sounds familiar." Lu Han voiced out with a furrowed brow.
Qin Ruan turned her head to smile at him, "The Fu Family from the south, their third son."
"Yes, it’s him, has Fu Jin arrived in Capital City?" Lu Han looked somewhat surprised.
Being from one of the four major families, Lu Han had some knowledge of the southern Fu Family, and he’d heard about the mystique surrounding their third son.
Qin Ruan shrugged, "Who knows, we should ask Minmin."
She stared at Minmin, hoping to get an answer from her.
Minmin smirked dismissively, "If you want to know, go investigate yourselves."
Qin Ruan’s brows arched slightly, and she said confidently, "That man isn’t Fu Jin."
"Hmph!" With a cold huff, Minmin turned her head away.
Qin Ruan squinted her eyes, deep in thought.
Xishi had repeatedly asserted that the man with Han Kexin wasn’t Fu Jin.
And now, Minmin’s panic vanished upon hearing Fu Jin’s name, indicating that the man wasn’t indeed Fu Jin.
Then who, on earth, had been impersonating Fu Jin, intentionally getting close to Han Kexin and entangling himself with Minmin?
And how was all this related to Master Hui Cheng being invited by the Fu Family to cure their eldest son’s possession?
Qin Ruan found these connections too convoluted to untangle at the moment.
She pulled out her phone, opened WeChat, and found the WeChat group [Emperor Beitai is superior].
There were close to a hundred new messages.
A quick skim through them enlightened Qin Ruan that the eldest son of the Fu Family’s issue had been solved.
A libidinous female puppet had taken a liking to him, and earlier this morning both Qiao Nanyuan and Master Hui Cheng had acted, freeing him from the female puppet’s grasp.
Poor eldest son of the Fu Family, he had accidentally fallen onto an abandoned tomb while paying respects to his ancestors.
The woman buried there had taken a fancy to him, hoping he’d be her dream lover.
Had Master Hui Chen and Qiao Nanyuan acted a day later, the female puppet might have succeeded. Rectifying the situation then would have been far more complicated.
Now that the Fu family’s issue was resolved, Master Hui Cheng was on his way back to the capital.
Qin Ruan clicked on Qiao Nanyuan’s profile to message him privately.
[Uncle Qiao, did you see the third son of the Fu Family when you were there this morning?]
Qiao Nanyuan was online. As soon as Qin Ruan sent her message, she saw that he was typing a reply.
[No, but I’ve seen photos of him and his family, including their family portrait from his childhood.]
Qin Ruan gently tapped the screen of her phone.
After a moment of contemplation, she opened her photo album and found the picture that Huo Chuan had sent her the previous night.
The man pictured was the one who’d been with Han Kexin, claiming to be Fu Jin.
Qin Ruan: [Image]
[Uncle Qiao, do you think this is Fu Jin as an adult?]
Qin Ruan sent the image and asked him.
Qiao Nanyuan responded swiftly on the other end.
"No, I just made a prediction, this person should be dead by now."
Upon reading this message, Qin Ruan’s delicate eyes widen slightly.
She swiftly raises her head, staring at Minmin’s stubborn and pale face.
Qin Ruan walks over to Minmin, brings the picture of the person displayed on her phone in front of her, "Is this person your accomplice? Was he the one who killed for you yesterday night?"
Minmin stares at the picture on the phone and the words Qiao Nanyuan replied to Qin Ruan.
A black fog appears in her eyes, and her lips tremble, "No! This isn’t possible! How could he be dead?!"
Qin Ruan stares into her eyes, her voice deep, "I’ve met a Taoist like you before, who sacrificed his body for the demon. The aura those people had matches yours, I wonder how you got in contact with those demons.
I’m not without other ways of finding out, I just don’t want to hurt you. The pain of soul-searching will make you wish you were dead, it’s best you tell me everything now, Minmin."
Demons appearing frequently don’t bode well.
Minmin’s face is pale and empty, she raises her head to look at Qin Ruan, suddenly extending her hand to grab her clothes.
She speaks hastily, "Ajin is innocent, he shouldn’t die, please help him, I don’t want to get him involved."
Qin Ruan frowns: "Isn’t he your accomplice?"
"I lied to him, he’s just an ordinary person, I only wanted to get Han Kexin’s protective amulet off her through him, otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to get near her, let alone take revenge."
Qin Ruan’s expression turns cold: "You dragged an ordinary person into your revenge, possibly causing his death? How are you different from Han Kexin then?"
Once humans are tainted by evil spirits, they are affected by destiny, at best they become sick and weak, at worst they die.
The man named Ajin is likely dead.
"Where did he go after you killed someone last night?"
"He was hurt by Han Xian, I took him to a clinic."
"Which clinic?"
Lu Han asked, realizing the seriousness of the situation.
Minmin named a black clinic, and Lu Han turned and left the interrogation room.
Without looking back he said, "I’ll have someone go check."
Qin Ruan furrows her brows, looking disapprovingly at Minmin: "I understand your motive for revenge, even if you had killed Han Kexin and Han Xian, it would be justified given the deep hatred. But why did you involve others? Are you aware that the demonic qi on you is even more harmful than the puppet energy?"
Minmin breaks down emotionally, covering her face, sobbing, "I didn’t know, I just wanted to get revenge on Han Kexin. I didn’t know he would be so stupid as to take a knife for me. I can’t be hurt by a knife in my current state, he’s just a fool, a big fool!"
"You don’t seem to be very smart either." Qin Ruan replies coolly.
Minmin sobs softly, her emotions beyond control.
Han Xian and Han Kexin, the mother and daughter pair on the other side, seem to be revelling in her misery.
Seeing their expressions, a look of loathing fills Qin Ruan’s eyes.
As for Minmin, she feels nothing but pity.
She had not only taken one life but might have caused the death of another who was kind to her. Such karma would not lead to an easy existence in the Netherworld.
After Minmin calmed down, Qin Ruan asked, "How did you meet Ajin?"
Minmin looks up, there’s a red glint in her eyes: "After making a deal with the demon, I returned to Capital City to seek revenge on Han Kexin. I ran into Ajin the night I returned. He’s a conman by occupation, but he’s kind-hearted..."
Upon hearing this, Qin Ruan can’t help but twitch, amused.
Interesting, a conman described as kind-hearted?
Minmin continues, "I met Ajin in Nanying, when I was tortured by those criminals. He was my... my client, but when he found out my brother was an undercover cop, he never touched me. That night he kept me company, and I finally had a peaceful sleep.
After a few months, when I returned to seek revenge on Han Kexin, I found out I couldn’t get near her and Ajin was with her.
Ajin was impersonating a rich family’s son to scam Han Kexin out of her money. I desperately wanted to kill Han Kexin, so I had no choice but to ask for his help in removing the Jade Guanyin from Han Kexin’s neck..."
"So it was all your doing!"
Han Kexin, who wasn’t sitting far away, immediately became angry upon hearing this.
That day, when she went out to meet Yong En, Fu Jin, no, the man named Ajin, asked her to take off the Jade Guanyin from her neck, saying women aren’t supposed to wear such things during the full moon.
She actually believed him, removed the Jade Guanyin, and lost her life that very night.
Minmin glares darkly at Han Kexin, her tone menacing, "You’ll never be able to pay for my brother’s death. Because of you, his years of undercover work were ruined, many of his teammates were killed, you deserve to die!"
Han Kexin retorts, "I wanted to live too, did I do something wrong?"
"You did do something wrong, something very wrong! When those people came after you, you didn’t make a sound!
"My brother’s death, it’s because I knew a selfish and malicious woman like you. Even my own capture is deserved!
"Do you know how many innocent people were sacrificed because you posted pictures of my brother on the internet? Twelve lives, and add mine that’s thirteen. How will you repay this?
"You say you want to live, did they not want to live too? They all had families, they wanted to live as well, but you didn’t give them a chance, just one word from you, and they wouldn’t have had to sacrifice themselves!"
Han Kexin wants to retort again, "I..."
"Shut up!"
Qin Ruan, visibly irritated, silences her.
She turns back to Minmin and asks, "Since you made a deal with the demon, why didn’t the mobsters in Nanying take action?"
If Minmin killed those mobsters, she wouldn’t be responsible for just one life.
