Chapter 253: Chapter 253: A child, he is coming to avenge you

"Bang!"

"Plop!"

The people pulling Li Xiao were repelled by the overwhelming Evil Qi bursting from her body.

They crumbled to the ground, howling from pain and unable to get up.

Those who watched rushed to help them up, but dared not approach Li Xiao and Lili again.

Qin Ruan took in the scene, her grim face frightening, indeed.

The people harmed by the negative energy will be affected in a short time.

At least, they will encounter Puppet apparitions; the worst-case scenario being bad luck or life-threatening situations, especially for those with feeble life energy.

This audacious Puppet primarily targeted students who shouldn’t have been involved.

Having experienced two supernatural incidents, Ling Xiaoxuan’s sharp intuition made her suspect that the two girls were involved.

Grabbing Qin Ruan’s arm, she tremulously asked, "Qin Ruan, is there a Puppet?"

Her voice wavered, shocked to the core as if she was the one being tormented by the Puppet.

"Yes."

Qin Ruan simply replied and pulled back her arm, striding determinedly towards Li Xiao and the girl named Lili.

Lili’s face reddened severely from the force of the grip around her neck.

Li Xiao was genuinely attempting murder!

Despite the life-threatening situation triggering a surge of adrenaline, Lili couldn’t break free from her captor’s grip.

On seeing Qin Ruan approach, Lili attempted to call for help but couldn’t make a sound.

Tears welled up in her eyes, her agonized face twisted in pain as she sent a silent plea for help.

Qin Ruan positioned herself in front of Li Xiao and, with swift precision, struck the top of her head.

An invisible shadow separated itself from Li Xiao’s body.

"Cough...cough..." Freed from the Puppet’s grasp, Lili collapsed on the ground, coughing violently.

Looking as if she just had a brush with death, she even coughed up blood.

Qin Ruan looked at Li Xiao’s vacant expression, immediately sensing something was off.

Shifting her gaze down, she noticed the Puppet nesting by Li Xiao’s feet.

The Puppet was diminutive, with a pale little face and hateful eyes staring venomously at Qin Ruan as if intending to shred her to pieces.

Its sudden, unexpected appearance would scare the daylights out of anyone.

Qin Ruan’s eyes were sharp and piercing as she stared back at the Puppet, her lips pursing with displeasure.

This Puppet had not yet developed Spiritual Wisdom. It didn’t speak or understand language.

Its only purpose was revenge.

The Puppet wanted to kill Lili, the girl who almost gave birth to it.

Qin Ruan furrowed her brows and glanced at Lili, who was gradually regaining her vitality.

Her face twisted in rage, Lili glared at Li Xiao and accused her shrilly, "Why did you try to strangle me? Do you realize you nearly killed me?"

Li Xiao remained kneeling, her eyes lifeless and face listless, as if she had lost her soul.

Unanswered, Lili flew into a fit of anger and attempted to shake Li Xiao back into consciousness.

"Say something! You bitch, say something!"

"Bitch! Why did you betray me given how kind I was to you? Your insidious heart must’ve been devoured by a dog... "

Seeing Li Xiao about to tip over, Qin Ruan stepped forward to steady her, her cold eyes glaring at Lili.

"Want to know why?"

Lili, not appreciating Qin Ruan’s kindness, retorted angrily, "This is between us and none of your business, get lost!"

Qin Ruan smirked mockingly, "Remember the person you killed last month?"

"Nonsense!" Without hesitation, Lili denied the accusation.

Leaning closer so only the two could hear, Qin Ruan divulged, "A growing child. He is here to seek his revenge."

Lili gasped, her pupils dilated with fear, and her recently regained color drained from her face.

"You’re, you’re talking nonsense, I didn’t..."

Her voice trembled, revealing her guilt.

Qin Ruan answered with an ambiguous hum, "You know it too well."

Lili was at a loss for words as Qin Ruan stated the truth.

But this secret was known only to her and Li Xiao.

The hospital they visited operated under the radar, leaving no medical records post procedure.

How could Qin Ruan know this?

Could this woman be monitoring every move she made? The suspicion flashed in Lili’s eyes.

Unaware of Lili’s suspicion, Qin Ruan pulled out her phone to find a conversation she had previously had with Huo Zhi.

Her fingers moved swiftly over the screen, quickly composing and sending a text message.

Once done, Qin Ruan spoke coldly to Lili, "If you want to resolve this, come with me, or else no one can spare your life."

She helped Li Xiao to her feet, guiding the puppet-like girl towards the library exit.

Lili sat flustered on the floor, her expression changing rapidly with evident panic and fear.

The crowd of onlookers were puzzled, unable to comprehend what Qin Ruan had told her to elicit such a reaction.

Seeing Qin Ruan leave with Li Xiao, Ling Xiaoxuan scooped up the books from the table and rushed after them.

The books were needed by Qin Ruan for her afternoon class.

Qin Ruan, with Li Xiao and Ling Xiaoxuan, was about to leave the library when Lili finally stumbled to her feet and followed after them.

The thwarted Puppet clung to Lili’s shoulder, its stubborn, menacing eyes glued to her.

Once they had left, those who had been injured by the Puppet due to Li Xiao’s possessed state were still suffering.

The four boys who had tried to pull Li Xiao away were visibly in misery.

Their helpers asked, "Bro, you need help getting to the infirmary?"

"Yes! I’m in pain everywhere!"

"Me too, that lady is incredibly strong!"

"Who knows? I felt like I was yanked away without even getting close to Li Xiao."

"That’s what it seemed like."

This perplexed everyone.

Did Li Xiao possess some special ability, like levitation or the capacity to knock them down with mere fingertip pressure?

While they speculated, others helped them up to head to the infirmary.

As they neared the exit, they were halted by a brigade of Hidden Guards from the Huo family standing guard at the entrance.

Despite their casual outfits, their aura and icy stares indicated they were anything but ordinary.

They were clearly not regular folks but resembled thugs or bodyguards.

Huo Zhi stood confronting them, her icy look met by a mix of wariness and intrigue.

She addressed the several boys intending to leave the library with a stern warning, "No one is allowed to leave!"

"Why?"

One person, slow to accept, flared up. Their pent-up anger from being wounded by Li Xiao was barely under control.

They were already injured, and now they were forbidden from leaving; were they supposed to just suffer here?

Huo Zhi didn’t care what they thought. She took a step back, signaling her subordinates to prevent anyone from exiting.

She was following her Madam’s orders: no entry or exit from the library, especially for the injured whom they were to watch closely.

"Who are you people? My classmate is hurt and needs to head to the infirmary. If there are any issues, we can deal with it after they’ve seen the doctor," someone from the crowd objected.

Huo Zhi stoically ignored him.

She didn’t know the reason behind the order, and hence, couldn’t offer an explanation.

To avoid causing any unnecessary trouble for the Madam, she just had to perform her duty.
