Chapter 180: Chapter 180: Distressing His Daughter, Father Qin Panics
In the business world, who doesn’t know that the Qin Group was built from scratch by Qin Anguo himself?
His late wife was a woman of common class and humble origins, devoid of power and influence.
What did such a woman have to contribute to the Qin Group?
Related to Qin Ruan?
That’s even less likely!
Qin Ruan had only been back in the Qin family for a year, and before that, she had never had any contact with the Qin Group. She had no connection with it at all!
Qin Anguo took a seat back on the sofa, peering at his daughter gently.
When he gazed at Qin Ruan’s delicate face, a hint of nostalgia and memories flickered in his eyes.
"You look a lot like your mother." Qin Anguo sighed.
Unfortunately, this was the first time he had ever mentioned her mother. Upon hearing this, Qin Ruan struggled to maintain her calm.
In her previous life, the first thing she was told when she returned to the Qin family was about her mother’s grave.
That woman, who bore a striking resemblance to her, was beautiful and gentle, yet there was an endless sorrow in her eyes.
In the first eighteen years of her life, her mother was a stranger.
She did have expectations of her mother.
When she was alone and helpless, when she was lonely and trying to heal her wounds.
But she knew, her mother was just too far away for her.
The true meeting between mother and daughter happened at a grave, a setting of permanent separation.
Back then, Qin Ruan’s emotions were relatively flat.
Having missed each other for so many years, without ever having been together, Qin Ruan’s heart did not experience intense emotional turmoil.
A rare tenderness appeared on Qin Anguo’s face, with a faint smile reflected in his eyes.
He told Qin Ruan, "After you were taken away back then, all of us, powerless as we were, could do very little. In our quest to find you, we pushed our business to become more successful. All in hopes of finding you one day.
Your mother graduated from a prestigious university, her knowledge and ability far exceeded mine. If she were still here, the Qin Group would definitely be achieving even higher successes today.
Unfortunately, heaven was jealous of her looks. Your mother missed you day and night. Amidst her regrets and endless work, her health deteriorated and she left us forever."
As Qin Ruan listened, she kept silent, allowing him to continue.
Qin Anguo’s voice remained calm, yet it could not conceal his sadness.
Both Qin Jingcen and Qin Mei had vivid memories of their mother, sorrow surfacing on their faces.
Thinking back to the memories of his wife’s last moments, Qin Anguo dabbed his reddened eyes.
"Before your mother died, she asked me to promise her that if we were ever able to find you, the Qin Group would be handed over to you. Because you are the reason the Qin Group exists today. If it hadn’t been for our desire to find you, we wouldn’t have fought so hard to achieve as much as we did."
At this, even Qin Ruan’s eyes began to well up.
As it turned out, when she was struggling to survive in poverty-stricken West City, taking on fights for her safety, somebody had done so much for her.
The Qin Group existed because of her, her mother worried about her until her last breath, and even died in regret.
She knew none of this.
Her father, and brothers, none of them had ever told her any of this.
Qin Ruan lowered her gaze, and the hands resting on her lap started to tremble slightly.
She did not cry, but tears began to uncontrollably fall, wetting the clothes on her chest.
The tears fell like a bursting dam, splashing on her legs.
Her heart was gripped so tightly it felt difficult to breathe.
Qin Ruan’s sudden tears shocked Qin Anguo, leaving him frozen in place.
He hadn’t expected to make his daughter cry, and he was at a loss for what to do. He looked helplessly over at his eldest son.
Qin Jingcen quickly walked over to Qin Ruan, pulling her into his embrace, and wiping away her tears.
He spoke in a gentle voice, trying to comfort her, "Ruanruan, it’s okay, don’t cry. If your mother knew you came back home, she would be incredibly happy. Don’t feel sad."
