Young Master Is Being Jealous Again! -
Chapter 1206: Why Don’t You Let Me Fend for Myself
Chapter 1206: Chapter 1206: Why Don’t You Let Me Fend for Myself
Song Qing swiftly moved forward to support Qin Ruan’s body and sternly shouted at Huo Zhi, who was standing not far away, "Little Zhizi, take Madam back to her room, and all Hidden Guards, leave this place at once!"
Huo Zhi was pulled into the barrier by an invisible force, turning her head to look at Huo Yunjiao enduring the pain of the lightning strike, her face showing hesitation, "Master he..."
Song Qing harshly interrupted her, "You can’t help by staying here, better to keep away! Leave the rest to us!"
Huo Zhi didn’t give her time to hesitate, passed Qin Ruan to Huo Zhi, waved her arms, and sent them away.
As for what happened next, Qin Ruan knew nothing; the thunderous roar continued to echo through the sky.
After Qin Ruan awoke, she learned that both Huo Yunjiao and Xia Yunchen were in a comatose state, and the Huo Family’s medical team examined them immediately but to no avail.
The Huo Family was in complete disarray, yet it was Huo Yirong who took control of the situation and, after discussing with Elder Master Huo and others, managed to stabilize things.
Since waking up, Qin Ruan had been constantly by Huo Yunjiao’s bedside, enduring waves of pain in her stomach, summoning Ming Tianheng and Chu Zifeng from the Netherworld.
"What exactly happened? Tell me everything about last night in detail!"
Her facial expression was dark and menacing, her eyes filled with an ominous rage about to erupt, and her tone carried an undeniable command.
Ming Tianheng, uncertain of how much she knew, stated succinctly, "Third Master Huo is physically weak, and your identities are not approved by the Heaven and Earth Laws. To worship and bond in matrimony would incur lightning punishment. Last night, you were supposed to suffer the lightning punishment with Third Master Huo, but you escaped because you are pregnant."
Tears shimmered in Qin Ruan’s eyes as she asked with a tremulous voice, "What is our status that Heaven and Earth do not recognize, and why?"
Ming Tianheng’s lips sealed tightly, no longer willing to speak.
Even if he remained silent, Qin Ruan could guess the truth; the suspicions she was reluctant to admit, after a terrifying night, were finally laid bare before her, forcing her to face reality.
Standing beside Ming Tianheng, Chu Zifeng stared at Qin Ruan with cold eyes and said in a hard voice, "You might as well wait for Third Master to wake up and ask him yourself."
Her complaint lacked any aggression, and Qin Ruan could sense Chu Zifeng’s shift in attitude towards her.
She looked down at Huo Yunjiao, who lay on the bed, his usual warmth gone, his expression cold and distant. She gently caressed his face with her slender fingers and asked softly, "When will he wake up?"
Chu Zifeng’s face was expressionless, his voice indifferent and devoid of emotion, "He will wake up when it’s time."
With those words, he vanished from the spot, clutching Ming Tianheng’s arm.
Qin Ruan sat beside the bed, dazed, her hands cradling the handsome face of Huo Yunjiao, unable to suppress the stifled sobs in her throat any longer.
Huo Zhi, standing guard outside the room, heard the noise and clenched her hand tightly at her side.
Huo Yirong came with others, hearing the muffled cries from the room and frowning deeply.
He asked Huo Zhi in a cold voice, "When did it start?"
Huo Zhi’s voice was hoarse, "Just now."
Huo Yirong rubbed his temples, looking weary, and instructed softly, "Keep an eye on Madam. If anything happens to her, you will all kneel in the Punishment Hall and never come out."
Hearing this, Huo Zhi and several other Hidden Guards at the door knelt down in panic.
Huo Yirong’s countenance was somber and solemn, his expression an icy grimness. He didn’t even glance at Huo Zhi and the others, merely stood at the doorway, heeding Qin Ruan’s sobs for a while, but ultimately, he didn’t enter. Expressionless, he turned and left.
His reaction to last night’s events was not much of a surprise, as Huo Yunjiao had already forewarned him. Yet, witness firsthand his pale, stricken figure lying on the bed, he couldn’t help but feel distressed and heartbroken.
The only relief was that Huo Yunjiao, lying there motionless, was merely in a coma, and the slight rise and fall of his chest assured everyone he was still alive.
Qin Ruan didn’t know the specifics of the previous night’s turmoil, but the public was abuzz with speculation online. Thunder had boomed for hours without a drop of rain, and the capital was shrouded in layers upon layers of dark clouds, a frightful spectacle that one rarely encountered in a century.
Some were causing a stir, suggesting it was the work of a reclusive expert undergoing tribulation; others speculated it might be a secret experiment with the latest rain-inducing weapon; still others made even more outlandish guesses.
The chaos wrought by the thunderstorm on the Huo Family compound could not be concealed, and those who sought news, both openly and in secret, were kept firmly out of the premises by the Huo family members.
The days that followed were as peaceful as ever, except for the third master of Huo, who once again disappeared from the public eye.
Qin Ruan no longer went out for work, dutifully staying home to accompany the unresponsive Huo Yunjiao, eating mechanically as the servants advised to ensure the child within her received sufficient nutrients.
After her persistent coaxing and pleading, Ming Tianheng finally disclosed to her the events of that night.
That evening, as Huo Yunjiao confronted the thunder tribulation, Xia Yunchen took the deadly blow for him. But how could Heavenly Dao let off a marriage not recognized by the Heaven and Earth Laws?
After she fell into a coma, countless lethal thunder punishments struck out towards Huo Yunjiao.
His powers were not at their peak and he couldn’t withstand all the lightning punishments alone. It wasn’t until the ancient Divine Beasts of the fifty-two tribes and the ministers of the Netherworld joined forces to resist that they managed to save both Huo Yunjiao’s and Xia Yunchen’s lives.
Ever since that day, both he and Xia Yunchen had fallen into a deep coma, and none of the methods attempted could rouse them.
Xia Yunchen, severely wounded, was taken away by Changyuan and others. His condition became like the third master’s, like that of a living dead.
Occasionally, Qin Ruan took time to visit Xia Yunchen. The other lay as usual on the bed, breathing but without conscious awareness. Changyuan served him around the clock, and from time to time, would transfer ancient demonic power into his master.
As the long wait stretched on, Qin Ruan’s belly grew day by day.
One day, she lay in Huo Yunjiao’s arms, her belly round with their child, softly complaining into his ear about her experiences visiting Xia Yunchen.
"Changyuan’s temper is getting worse by the day. Yesterday, when I went to see your brother, he was scolding Aqing, blaming him for feeding your brother all kinds of nonsense.
Your condition is different from his. His heart meridians were damaged. If it weren’t for Changyuan sustaining his life, he probably would have returned to the Netherworld the moment the thunder punishment hit."
As she spoke, Qin Ruan looked up at the man who lay comatose before her, her slender, warm fingers gently caressing his cheek, the slim face as cold as ever.
Qin Ruan said softly, "I’m not saying this to blame you, if I could, I wish none of you would be hurt."
She said so much, yet received no response from him.
She had grown accustomed to this silence over time but still felt sadness wash over her.
Besides waiting, she had no other recourse.
Qin Ruan fell silent for a few seconds, her voice weary with self-blame, "Why must you suffer this way? Wouldn’t it be nice if we just lived this life in peace?
Why did you strive? It was my fault back then; I was arrogant, heartless, I was the one who betrayed your affection. Why won’t you let me just face the consequences alone?"
As she spoke, her eyes were once again filled with tears.
