Chapter 1179: Chapter 1179: Master Huo’s Late-night Chance Encounter with a Beautiful Lady, He Dares Not Disturb Her Hastily

In the midsummer night, a hint of coolness permeated the air. Qin Ruan, walking on the bluestone path of the courtyard, wasn’t bothered by the mosquitoes of the summer night thanks to the mosquito-proof building materials surrounding her.

She wore a beige house dress, her steps light and cheerful as she strolled through the courtyard, her movements not at all like those of a woman more than four months pregnant.

Qin Ruan suddenly stopped in her tracks, looking up at tonight’s starry sky.

The beautiful view filled her vision, and the day’s irritability vanished without a trace. At this moment, her mood was exceptionally relaxed and comfortable, perhaps due to the night’s gentle breeze.

The pale yellow streetlight shone on Qin Ruan’s delicate and petite face, a usually cool visage now radiating innocence and allure.

The sound of a car honking in the distance reached her ears, clear and distinct, and her gentle red lips slowly curved into a smile.

Qin Ruan turned and walked back. She was like a mischievous sprite of the night, yet also like a fairy with an ethereal grace that had wandered into the mortal world.

As she walked, her arms swung joyfully—crossing in front of her as she stepped forward, then separating the next, creating a rhythmic motion.

Two beams of light from a car trailing behind shone on her, the curvature of Qin Ruan’s lips growing wider, signaling her good mood to anyone who saw her.

The slowly arriving convoy stopped in place; the headlights ceased their motion, too.

Huo Qiang, dressed casually in a suit and of tall stature, stepped out of the leading vehicle when its rear door was opened by Huo Qiang.

He stood at the car door, his deep and dark eyes fixed on the girl bathed in the headlight’s glow.

That was his girl, his little madam, and even more so, the little fox he had finally caught after a thousand years of pursuit.

Watching Qin Ruan’s childishly cheerful steps and elegantly swinging arms, all exuding a sense of playful charm, Huo Yunjiao couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.

He knew Qin Ruan was waiting for him and he also knew the reason why she was waiting.

Huo Yunjiao subconsciously stroked the Buddha beads on his left wrist.

His little fox was quite cunning, but fortunately, he was well-prepared, able to leave her one last beautiful memory of their brief time of sweetness.

Under the pale yellow streetlight, the Buddha beads on his wrist were clearly visible, showing no trace of damage.

Huo Yunjiao took steps towards his little fox, each stride elegant yet urgent.

Qin Ruan heard the footsteps behind her and a fox-like charming smile appeared on her face, her cunningly beautiful eyes sparkling with delight in the night.

As Huo Qiang went to catch up with his wife, the Hidden Guard and the other men who got out of the car followed at a respectful distance.

Qin Ruan stopped swinging her arms, gathered the fabric of her beige dress in her hands, and spun around to face Huo Qiang and his companions with a smile.

Surprise shone in her eyes and a barely concealed smile played on her lips as she tilted her head and feigned astonishment, "Ah, when did you get back, my lord? I didn’t hear your footsteps at all."

The person she had waited for all evening had finally arrived.

Huo Yunjiao, standing a few steps away, his face as beautiful as a painting, broke into a warm smile.

His thin lips parted, and he spoke in an indulgent and soft voice, "To encounter such a heart-stirring beauty in one’s own garden on a lovely night like this fills the heart with joy that cannot be contained and prevents one from daring to cause disturbance."

With that, he chuckled lightly, an action particularly heartwarming on this soft night.

Qin Ruan, filled with happiness, teased flirtatiously, "Smooth talker!" Her beautiful eyes scanned the man she had waited for so long, from top to bottom.

Her gaze finally settled on the Buddha beads on his wrist, and her already radiant smile grew even more satisfied.

She quickly walked up to Huo Yunjiao, slipped her arm through his, and spoke with a slight complain in her voice, "Ayao and Anqi have already gone to bed; you’ve come back so late."

He had promised to be home in the afternoon, but before dinner he called to announce there was an unexpected four-hour-long international video conference.

Huo Yunjiao knew he was the one who broke his word first, reached out to rub Qin Ruan’s head, and then touched her cheek, which was somewhat cool, bent over to cradle her in his arms, and said in a gentle voice, "It’s my fault; I’ve made my little fox wait for so long, how about I make it up to you tonight?"

With one hand he held Qin Ruan’s legs, and with the other, he embraced her back, his slender fingertips gliding gently across her sorrow through the beige skirt, carrying implications both understood but left unspoken.

Upon hearing this, Qin Ruan’s smile froze, and her recently recovered body tensed up subconsciously.

It might have been psychological, but a sour and tingling sensation spread across her lower back.

Huo Yunjiao turned a blind eye to her body’s resistance, carrying her in large strides toward the small building.

Qin Ruan pushed against him and protested with her mouth, "No! Put me down; there are people watching."

Of course, she didn’t mind being seen by Huo Qiang and the others; after all, they had been in much closer situations before, and not just once or twice. She was just somewhat fearful about what was going to happen tonight.

These past days, she had been tormented not lightly, and deep down she was almost fearful of that matter.

It wasn’t that she suffered, but there were other unspeakable embarrassments.

She was satisfied with the process, even very comfortable, but the aftermath was more than she could bear.

Huo Yunjiao’s eyebrows rose slightly, and he looked down at the delicate beauty in his arms, teasing, "I only found out tonight that my Ruanruan is so shy."

Without turning his head, he commanded in a deep voice to Huo Qiang and the others, "There’s nothing for you here, go back."

"Yes, Third Master—"

Huo Qiang and the others stopped, watching the Third Master and Madam walk into the small building.

Huo Yunjiao did not look at Qin Ruan, whose cheeks were slightly puffed out in anger, but he knew without looking that she felt overwhelmed by what was about to happen.

It’s not that he really wanted to do it, but he enjoyed this feeling of bullying people.

His face was kind, yet his heart was quite pleased.

Because he knew that this girl would not refuse him, even if there were various reluctant actions before getting back to the bedroom, she would eventually be stirred by the most straightforward desires of her heart.

Chasing her lifetime after lifetime had made it clear to him that the little fox in his arms needed to be stroked with the grain.

As long as he did so, the little fox would never reject him.

Just when Qin Ruan was prepared to risk her recently recovered waist, after Huo Yunjiao carried her back to the bedroom, he did nothing.

The night was deep, and Qin Ruan was pregnant after all—Third Master Huo couldn’t bear to torment her.

He gently placed her on the bed, pulled back the summer quilt to cover Qin Ruan, and under her unsettled gaze, leaned down to plant a kiss on her cheek.

"There, go to sleep and don’t wait up for me; I’m a bit tired today and am going to take a bath."

Hearing this, Qin Ruan’s heart, which had been lifted, fell back down, realizing that he had been teasing her and she glared at him with embarrassed annoyance.

"Who’s waiting for you!"

She turned her back on the man behind her, embodying the phrase "annoyed and enraged" to the fullest.

The sound of light laughter echoed in the quiet room, Huo Yunjiao’s calming hand rested on her head for a moment before leaving, followed by the sound of his footsteps.

Listening to the noise from the bathroom, Qin Ruan lay in bed with her eyes curved, more beautiful than the crescent of the night.

Perhaps the faint sounds from the bathroom were too lulling, as she quickly fell into a deep sleep.
