Chapter 1176: Chapter 1176: Baby, I Can’t Help But Do Bad Things to You

Qin Ruan smiled at Huo Qi as he approached, "Long time no see."

"Indeed, it’s been a while since I entered the company. I’ve been so busy I’m spinning like a top."

As Huo Qi responded and approached, he saw the twins getting out of the car.

Huo Yao and Huo Anqi stood by Qin Ruan’s side, politely greeting him, "Uncle Qi."

"So well-behaved, and you’ve grown a lot too," Huo Qi squatted down, ruffled their hair, then looked up at Qin Ruan and said, "Uncle asked me to come down to pick you up. He’s been waiting upstairs for a while now. Shall we go up?"

Qin Ruan’s eyebrows slightly raised, her face showing surprise, "He knew I was coming?"

Huo Qi stood up and nodded at her, "Uncle mentioned having lunch at the company today. I instructed the kitchen to prepare when I came down."

Qin Ruan smirked inwardly, unsure whether to call her father-in-law an old fox who predicts everything accurately or just lucky to guess she wouldn’t stay at home.

Thinking of the Buddha Beads upstairs, she nodded at Huo Qi, "Let’s go up then."

Huo Qi, with the mother and her two sons as well as Huo Zhi who followed behind, entered the HEA Group lobby. Under the watchful eyes of the passing staff, they took the elevator to the company’s upper floors.

Upon pushing open the office door, Qin Ruan saw a silhouette standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows, his back towards her.

The man’s figure was slender and graceful, dressed in a light apricot casual suit, a gentle color, resembling a refined gentleman. Bathed in sunlight, he radiated a bright and gentle charm, his masculinity more captivating.

Hearing the noise, he slowly turned around, the corners of his lips curved just right.

She had to admit, no matter how many times she saw Huo Yunjiao’s exquisitely handsome face, Qin Ruan never tired of it; she never had any immunity.

"Why are you zoning out? Come here," Huo Yunjiao waved to Qin Ruan at the door, ignoring Huo Qi and the two kids.

As if bewitched, Qin Ruan walked towards him with light steps.

By the time she gathered her senses, she had already been embraced by Huo Yunjiao.

Huo Yunjiao held his wife’s cheeks, kissed the corner of her lips, a brief touch, and gazed into her eyes with deep affection, "Darling, if you keep looking at me like that, I might not be able to resist doing something bad."

He whispered this deliberately low in Qin Ruan’s ear, his breath tickling her ear and making her already blushed earlobes turn even redder.

"Stop teasing," Qin Ruan placed her hands on his chest, pushing him away lightly.

Their conversation wasn’t audible to others, considering the children and cousin standing outside the door.

Qin Ruan paused for a moment, completely regaining her composure, clearly also remembering they had an audience.

She looked sheepish and feigned calmness, coughing twice, then stepped back from Huo Yunjiao’s embrace, beginning to avoid his gaze.

Disgusted with herself for not having enough willpower, always lost in the husband’s allure, she internally berated herself.

Beside him, she felt as if she were under a spell.

Dissatisfied that Qin Ruan had stepped back, Huo Yunjiao drew her back into his embrace by her waist.

As Huo Qi led the two children into the office, he ignored or was accustomed to the couple’s flirtation.

The two children ran to Huo Yunjiao and Qin Ruan and hugged their legs, their faces full of admiration and dependency.

Seizing the moment, Huo Qi spoke up, "Uncle, the kitchen has prepared lunch according to sister-in-law’s taste, it will be ready in no more than half an hour."

Huo Yunjiao glanced at him with calm eyes, his gaze not as tender or doting as when he looked at Qin Ruan, but still somewhat affectionate.

In a mild voice, he said, "When at the company, don’t call me ’brother.’"

Huo Qi’s facial expression slightly stiffened, then relaxed as he replied, "Got it, Uncle."

He sensed the situation and left, giving the office back to the family of four.

Huo Yunjiao held his delicate wife in his arms, his sharp eyes slightly drooped as he stared at the two kids at their feet.

Seeing their panicked yet overly well-behaved expressions.

It was clear they had done something wrong and were putting on a well-behaved facade just before being caught.

Huo Yao and Huo Anqi met their father’s calm and cold gaze, feeling a slight anger pressuring them in a flash.

"Have you done something wrong and caused trouble?" Huo Yunjiao asked in a cool tone.

His face showed little anger, nor was there any blaming; his tone was so indifferent that no one could sense any danger or pressure.

Yet the kids, sharp as they were, knew their father was angry.

Not obviously so.

But they were still scared; in their father’s eyes, their mother was always the priority, and anyone who upset her would face his wrath.

Qin Ruan didn’t notice the lord’s off mood, looking at his slightly raised eyes, thinking he was just asking casually because of the lingering warmth and affection in his eyes.

It was not until she looked down and saw her two sons’ pale, frightened faces that she realized she was failing more and more to manage her emotions around her husband.

The kids had sensed their grandpa’s anger, yet she was lost in his deep affection.

Qin Ruan couldn’t bear the kids’ pale and anxious faces; she left her husband’s embrace once more, crouched down, and took Huo Yao and Huo Anqi’s little hands to sit down on the couch.

Huo Yunjiao pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing lightly, "Ruanruan, you spoil them too much."

With just one look, he knew the trouble Huo Yao and Huo Anqi had caused was no small matter.

Seeing Qin Ruan’s indulgence with the children, no matter his dissatisfaction, it all turned into a helpless sigh.

Qin Ruan relaxed in her seat on the couch, glancing at Huo Yunjiao with a coquettish scowl, quite unreasonably, "You haven’t even figured out what happened and you’re already blaming them. It’s so unreasonable."

A classic case of do as I say, not as I do.

She could bully and scold the kids, but no one else could.

What else could Huo Yunjiao say? Of course, he didn’t dare to speak again.

This pregnancy made him acutely aware of little tempers flying at him like arrows, cost-free.

That bit of temperament wasn’t annoying, in Huo Yunjiao’s eyes, it seemed more like a spice between the two of them, sometimes even intoxicating.

He raised both hands in a gesture of defeat, "My fault, my fault. I got angry with Ayao and Anqi without clarifying the situation."

Qin Ruan wasn’t buying it, turning her head away, "That doesn’t sound sincere at all."

Indeed, there wasn’t much sincerity; even Huo Yunjiao himself laughed.

He walked over to his desk, flipping through the documents laid out, unclear whether he was intentionally creating distance with his wife and sons or genuinely reviewing important documents.

Not hearing any noise, Qin Ruan looked up, glaring at the man comfortably and seriously seated at his desk.

"Where are the Buddha Beads?"

A problem that had been bugging her all morning suddenly slipped from her lips.

Huo Yunjiao casually rested his arm on the solid wood desk, his gaze lowered to the document in his hand, inadvertently revealing his pale neck, his back held very straight.

As Qin Ruan posed the question, his distinct, pale fingers calmly turned a page of the document, composed and silent, as if he hadn’t heard a thing.
