Chapter 1146: Chapter 1146: Tongsha Sky Bridge - Song the Half-Immortal Calls for Help

The monks around were suppressed by the strong deathly aura, their faces drastically changing as they almost simultaneously struck the wooden fish in front of them.

The distant and soothing sound of the wooden fish emerged in unison.

The deep and resonant sound of the wooden fish was truly captivating.

With the rune power emanated from striking the wooden fish, coupled with the recitation of the "Tian Luo Xuan Bao Jing" by Hui Cheng, waves of power spread from the surrounding monks towards Huo Yunjiao.

The rich and overwhelming evil Qi that emitted from Huo Yunjiao was instantly suppressed by the complex power of the scripture.

He did not resist, choosing instead to release his power without restraint.

A wind picked up in the moderately-sized courtyard without any apparent cause, messing up the third master’s hair and revealing his delicate features and full forehead.

As time slowly passed, his expression was one of ease, seemingly unaffected.

Huo Mansion.

After dispatching the Fu Family brothers with their profuse thanks, Qin Ruan waved off Huo Zhi, telling her to do whatever she needed to, and went upstairs alone to rest.

Perhaps because her belly had started to show, pregnancy symptoms followed suit, and these days she felt more and more sleepy.

While she was lying in bed for a noon rest, her mobile phone on the table lit up, then automatically turned off due to low battery.

Before long, in the western courtyard where the Hidden Guards lived, someone in one of the several small buildings received an urgent phone call.

Qin Ruan hadn’t been out much these two days, so Lin Hao was rather idle.

At that moment, he was having lunch with other Hidden Guards in the dining room when he received a call, identified as Song the Semi-Immortal.

Lin Hao had accompanied Qin Ruan to the Tongsha Sky Bridge before and had a brief chat with Old Song who set up a stall there; they exchanged contact information.

This was the first time Old Song had called him. Lin Hao placed his chopsticks down on the dining table, stood up, and walked outside to answer the phone.

"Master Song?"

"Mr. Lin, I just tried calling Daoist Qin but couldn’t reach her. Do you know if she’s available to talk right now?"

Song the Semi-Immortal’s voice, urgent and flustered, came through the phone’s speaker.

Lin Hao glanced at the time and replied, "Madam should be resting at this hour."

Upon hearing that, Song the Semi-Immortal immediately wailed from the other end, "Mr. Lin, this is a matter of life and death! Please, let me speak with Daoist Qin just for a moment."

Lin Hao, sensing that his talk of life and death probably had to do with the metaphysical and supernatural, pursed his lips and asked in a low voice, "Can it not wait an hour? It’s against the rules to disturb Madam during her nap time."

That was the rule, personally set by the third master: nothing, not even urgent matters, was allowed to disrupt Madam’s sleep.

Who didn’t know that the third master cared about the child in Qin Ruan’s womb, rumoured to be a daughter? When the Huo Family patriarch and Huo’s father found out, all the servants, Hidden Guards, gardeners, and other staff in Huo Mansion received a substantial red envelope.

When the two little princes came out of Qin Ruan’s belly, nobody received such treatment.

From this, it was clear just how much the Huo Family head and everyone else valued the little princess in Qin Ruan’s womb.

Song the Semi-Immortal sighed from the other end, "I can hang on for at most two more hours. It’s not just me; many Heavenly Masters are trapped as well. I was only able to make this call through using a magic artifact to shield the surrounding Qi."

Lin Hao’s brows were tightly furrowed, and a look of difficulty appeared on his face. After a moment, he asked, "Give me the address. I’ll go find Madam right now."

Song the Semi-Immortal immediately gave his location and expressed his gratitude, "Thank you, thank you—"

Just before hanging up, he quickly explained that he and some colleagues took on a job they thought was minor, but they had unexpectedly encountered a powerful puppet.

The Puppet was too cruel—if Qin Ruan couldn’t make it within two hours, all their lives would be at stake.

Lin Hao said he understood and hung up the call, walking towards the direction of Third Master’s small building.

A figure approached from ahead, and when Lin Hao saw the face of the approaching man, his steps abruptly halted, his handsome and stern face tensed, and a gloomy look flashed in his eyes.

The man coming from the opposite direction also noticed Lin Hao’s presence, surprise flickering across his face, which quickly returned to normal.

Lin Hao stood still, quietly waiting for the man to approach.

However, the man brushed past him without a word, as if he hadn’t seen him at all.

Lin Hao, not knowing what he was thinking, reached out and grabbed the man’s sleeve.

"Where the hell did you come from?" He demanded.

The man slowly turned around, his eyes dark and daunting as they fixed on Lin Hao, exuding an unsettling aura.

This was Weng En, whom Third Master had handed over to Huo Yirong.

Weng En chuckled at Lin Hao, "Aren’t you Madam’s favorite? Don’t you know why I’d appear here?"

Weng En’s expression was cold and his tone had a hint of intimacy, making it unclear what he really thought of Lin Hao.

Lin Hao, clenching the sleeve he had grabbed, now tightly held onto the man’s arm, his eyes reddened with gritted teeth, "Have you got nothing to say to me?"

Seeing Lin Hao’s near-teary appearance, Weng En raised his hand and touched his buzz cut, still with that irritating demeanor, his voice laced with hidden tenderness, "Ahao, you’ve grown up."

"Slap!"

Lin Hao slapped away the hand resting on his head, stepping back two paces, his gaze coldly fixed on Weng En, "We all thought you were dead."

Weng En twitched his lips, "Well, I’m still alive."

His control of the situation pricked at Lin Hao’s eyes. Thinking of something spiteful, he said, "Grandma is gone."

Weng En’s gaze flickered, then he replied with a laugh, "I visited her the other day. Grandma is very robust, going up and down stairs every day, mingling with a bunch of old men and women, quite lively."

"Bang!"

With a punch, Lin Hao hit Weng En’s aggravating face, roaring, "Do you have any idea how long I’ve been looking for you? You thought you were dead! Grandma nearly cried her eyes blind!"

He gripped Weng En’s collar, his bloodshot eyes brimming with accusation and rage.

Weng En did not fight back against Lin Hao’s blows.

Once Lin Hao stopped, Weng En wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, his voice even, "Ahao, you know being with me is dangerous. How could I dare contact you or Grandma before the danger is cleared?"

Lin Hao scoffed, his laugh laced with irrepressible scorn, "Couldn’t you let out just a little bit of news, even just a hint!"

Seeing two Hidden Guards passing by, Weng En leaned close to Lin Hao and warned in a low voice, "I will not allow the slightest danger to you!"

When Lin Hao was about to speak again, Weng En reminded him, "This is the Huo Mansion, do you want to keep making a scene?!"

Lin Hao was breathing heavily, the look in his eyes unclear—whether it was hatred or resentment.

His bloodshot eyes angrily glared at Weng En, wishing he could bite a chunk of flesh from him.

But he also knew this was not the place to talk and resolve their issues.

Thinking about Hui Cheng who was waiting for Qin Ruan to save him, Lin Hao lifted his foot and harshly kicked Weng En’s shin.

A vicious smile appeared on his face as he said darkly, "Now that you’re not dead, I’m going to get back all the tears I’ve shed for you over the years, don’t even think about running away!"
