Chapter 1121: Chapter 1121: What is your relationship with the Witch Clan? Master!
Fu Yueyuan, standing at the doorway with the shrewd eyes of an old fox, felt a slight tremble in his gaze upon seeing Wei Linchen, emotions like longing and heartache flashing across his face.
However, that fleeting expression quickly turned into fierce anger.
With a stern face, he scolded with a mixture of anger and disappointment, "You little brat, you still know how to come back!"
Wei Linchen, who was initially somewhat nervous, felt his apprehension vanish upon hearing Fu Yueyuan’s roar. He leaned against the front of the car, his slim figure surveying the crowd with an unfazed gaze.
His hands crossed over his chest, he asked in a casual tone, "Didn’t they say Second Brother had returned? Why isn’t he here?"
The reason he had rushed back so quickly was to see his brother, who was said to have come back from the dead.
If the other party had no connection with the Witch Clan, he wouldn’t mind having such a living dead brother in this world.
But should there be any involvement with the Witch Clan, they couldn’t blame him for being ruthless.
The Huo Family was at loggerheads with the Witch Clan, and it was crucial not to drag the Fu Family into this mess at such a time.
"Third Brother, long time no see."
From behind the people of the Fu Family came a warm, smiling voice.
Fu Yueyuan, Fu Yinru, and others stepped aside, revealing the source of the voice.
It was a young man in a green Daoist robe, standing tall like bamboo, with brows like ink paintings and eyes like stars.
The young man’s long hair was held up with a wooden pin, his delicate and excessively pale features lightly lifted at the corners of his lips, a lazy smile revealing his distant and dreamlike aura.
His Daoist robe sleeve was pulled up at the wrist. His face bore a strong resemblance to the Fu Family members, and his smiling eyes were directly fixed on Wei Linchen, who leaned against the car in the courtyard.
Upon seeing the newcomer, Wei Linchen couldn’t help but straighten up. His pupils contracted sharply, and a flicker of panic and guilt crossed his face.
The horrific scene of that past accident flashed in his mind again.
Fu Yuheng, the second son of the Fu Family, had been kidnapped fifteen years ago along with Fu Jin, who had not yet changed his name.
The kidnappers were a group of vicious thugs who not only demanded ransom from the Fu Family but also intended to kill their hostages.
It was Fu Yuheng who saved Wei Linchen at the critical moment, only to be killed mercilessly by the criminals.
Wei Linchen had witnessed the gruesome dismemberment of his second brother by the thugs. After his own rescue, the image of his brother’s death haunted his dreams every night.
But instead of receiving comfort from his family, he was subjected to pointing fingers. His position in the Fu Family also became quite difficult.
Treated coldly by his father and brothers and plagued by nightmares, who could understand his suffering?
His brother’s death became a heavy shackle he had to carry.
Wei Linchen and Fu Yinru, along with Fu Yuheng, were half-brothers, sharing the same father. His mother was the daughter of the Wei Family from the south, unfortunately pampered and weak since birth.
His mother passed away shortly after giving birth to him, making Wei Linchen’s situation in the Fu Family extremely awkward.
His second brother’s death was the final straw that broke him. He felt guilty for his brother’s death, but the cold violence from his family was what he couldn’t tolerate the most.
He was just eleven or twelve years old when he was kidnapped, unable to even protect himself, let alone witness his brother’s bloody death, leaving a shadow on his heart that would never fade for a lifetime.
Even though he escaped death, he lived in fear every day for many years, nearly turning into a madman.
Suffocated and overwhelmed in his home, Wei Linchen couldn’t bear it any longer and fled the house that left him breathless.
That departure lasted for more than a decade.
Wei Linchen thought he would live in guilt over his second brother for the rest of his life, coupled with resentment towards his family for their past cold violence.
Until this moment, seeing the living Fu Yuheng, a sense of indescribable relief surged from the depths of his heart.
It was good that he was alive!
The shackles that had been suppressed deep in his heart for many years were finally lifted at this moment, and he truly breathed a sigh of relief.
Call him selfish or despicable, Wei Linchen didn’t want to live in guilt forever.
Now, he forgot all about the worries of coming home, his whole heart and eyes filled with the sight of his living second brother. The joy, repressed and patient, made his very being tremble.
Fu Yuheng lifted his green Daoist robe and slowly descended the steps, step by step approaching Wei Linchen, his voice still as gentle as ever, "Xiaojin, how come you don’t greet your second brother after seeing him?"
The intimacy in his tone was as if they had never been apart.
Wei Linchen stood tensely, his hands and feet not knowing where to place themselves, his eyes brimming with tears as he stared at the approaching figure.
Back then, his second brother had stood in front of him, his frail body enduring all the torment protecting him from the thugs, a courage and lifesaving grace that Wei Linchen would never forget.
His lips quivered, emitting a barely audible sound from his throat, "Second brother—"
The voice was very low, with a tremor, and a hint of a choke.
Fu Yuheng walked up to him, embracing him tightly just like he used to do when they were young.
"Xiaojin, I’ve returned, are you happy?"
Happy?
Feeling the icy aura emanating from the other person, Wei Linchen didn’t dare to speak.
There was a hint of joy in his heart, but as Fu Yuheng hugged him, that joy was suppressed by doubt.
Back then, he had witnessed his second brother brutally murdered right before his eyes.
The thugs had even thrown the body parts into a stinking ditch.
After Wei Linchen was rescued, the Fu Family sent people to dredge the ditch, but they couldn’t find any remains of his second brother, not a trace of human skin or tissue.
This was also a main reason for the cold violence exerted by his father and brothers that year.
They thought he was lying, still harboring hope that Fu Yuheng was alive.
Each time he mentioned how the second brother was murdered by the thugs, the colder his father and brothers became toward him.
Wei Linchen regained his clarity of mind, raising his hand to hug the shoulders of the man in front of him. His voice was eerily calm, and he asked in a low tone, "Second brother, why are you still alive?"
Fu Yuheng let him go, his eyes cast down with a low chuckle, his gentle eyes flashing with harmless laughter.
Yet, his words caused Wei Linchen’s heart to sink.
"Are you disappointed that I’m alive?"
Fu Yuheng gave Wei Linchen’s shoulders a squeeze, exclaiming, "Xiaojin has grown up, and he’s getting stronger."
Seeing the brothers getting along so well, Fu Yueyuan cleared his throat and asserted his authority as the family head in a stern voice, "If you brothers have something to say, discuss it inside. What is this behavior in public!"
Even though the Family Head Fu carried himself with pride, and his tone wasn’t the warmest, everyone around knew he was happy.
His second son had returned after being missing for many years, and the youngest, who had run away from home, had come back too. How could he, as a father, not feel joyful?
Fu Yuheng, with his arm around Wei Linchen’s shoulder, moved toward the Fu Family members, looking the very picture of brotherly affection, affectionately saying, "We haven’t seen each other for fifteen years. Xiaojin, will you sleep with me tonight?"
He seemed to truly adore Wei Linchen, his fondness and affection coming from the heart.
"Second brother!"
Wei Linchen halted, calling the other man with a serious voice.
There were some things he had to clear up, as they related to the current safety of the Fu Family and the second brother.
Fu Yuheng turned around with a smile, "Hmm?"
Because of this man’s life-saving actions back then, coupled with years of guilt and self-blame, Wei Linchen didn’t beat around the bush, "Second brother, although your spirit and body are seemingly intact, and this body you wear is passed down from the Fu Family line.
However, a puppet is after all a different path, your body is permeated with a faint scent of death, your brow bears a dark shadow, and your body temperature cold as ice, who is it that turned you into a puppet?"
Just as Fu Yuheng’s handsome face showed a look of astonishment, Wei Linchen reached out and pulled apart his robe at the collar, revealing the fatal scar on his neck.
Back then, he had seen Fu Yuheng’s neck sliced by a blade.
That one strike allowed him a less painful death, but it also resulted in decapitation.
Now, his neck still bore the twisted line of blood from the cut that killed him.
Seeing his secret exposed, and his resurrection to return to the Fu Family, Fu Yuheng’s face turned pale, but he showed no sign of annoyance or anger.
He simply raised his hand and gently ruffled Wei Linchen’s hair, his voice still tinged with a hint of levity, "Xiaojin, I didn’t expect you to have joined the Mysterious Studies World."
Wei Linchen’s hand hanging at his side clenched into a fist, his heart aching as he asked through clenched teeth, "What is your relationship with the Witch Clan?"
Fu Yuheng’s pale lips moved slightly, revealing just two words, "Master."
