Chapter 1039: Chapter 1039: The Beginning of Ruanruan’s Destruction of the Yin Yang Sect, War Looms
Qin Ruan looked up at the fierce beasts carved onto the stone pillars flanking the Yin Yang Sect, and instructed Huo Zhi standing beside her, "Bring out that half-dead disciple of the Yin Yang Sect and the three-tailed fox."
Huo Zhi bowed in assent and turned to walk toward the carriage behind them.
Ayong, covered in blood, was thrown out from the inside of the carriage, followed by the seductive and coy three-tailed fox who uneasily stepped down from the vehicle.
Huo Zhi grasped Ayong’s body with one hand and pushed the shoulder of the three-tailed fox to come before Qin Ruan.
Qin Ruan cast her gaze down at Ayong, who was sprawled on the ground, then glanced at the three-tailed fox.
The corners of her lips slightly curved upwards, her voice cold as ice and clear to the ear as she spoke, "Are you happy to return to your old haunts?"
"Bang!"
The three-tailed fox fell to her knees with a bang, brought her hands together in front of Qin Ruan, rubbing them in a plea for mercy, "I beg you to spare me, I also didn’t want to be refined into a puppet, becoming their weapon for slaughter!
For so many years, the killings I committed were driven by Cien, I had no choice, you’re a powerful person, please show mercy and spare my life."
Qin Ruan looked down at her pathetic state with an even tone and asked, "How many people have you killed for Cien over these years?"
Upon hearing Qin Ruan’s question, the three-tailed fox’s face, once full of allure, was now stricken with fear.
She answered nervously, "I, I don’t remember clearly."
Qin Ruan’s voice was chillingly cold, "The thick stench of blood on you can’t accumulate without the lives of at least a hundred people. You ask me to spare you, but who is there to forgive those who died?"
Tears shimmered in the seductive eyes of the three-tailed fox as her face showed absolute despair, her enticing eyes filled with the gray of death.
But she still couldn’t give up and continued to plead pitifully, "I won’t dare to do it again in the future, I can become your contracted puppet, I only ask that you spare my life."
Qin Ruan shook her head with an indifferent expression, "I cannot spare you, but you need not die; you can atone for your sins."
"Yes, yes, yes! I can atone for my sins, just please don’t kill me!"
Excitement lit up the face of the three-tailed fox, making her alluring features even more enchanting.
"Stand up," Qin Ruan commanded, kicking Ayong on the ground, "Take him with us, let’s pay a visit to those beastly dogs in the Yin Yang Sect!"
To call the people of the Yin Yang Sect beasts was to compliment them.
The countless resentful spirits wandering the mountains, the spreading scent of blood and thick Demonic Qi, showed just how grave the Yin Yang Sect’s killing sins were; they were even more cruel than the Evil Puppets of Hell in the Netherworld.
Qin Ruan took the lead and started walking towards the Yin Yang Sect step by step.
As Huo Zhi, Song Qing, and others caught up, she turned back and ordered, "Stay outside and wait; if you encounter any danger, prioritize your own protection and don’t act recklessly."
"Yes, Madam!"
Huo Zhi bowed in acknowledgment, followed by the rest of the Hidden Guards, who also lowered their heads.
Song Qing, standing by Qin Ruan’s side, did not react.
Qin Ruan’s eyes swept over her, and a delicate scent of flowers faintly detected in the air, pleasant to the nose, scattered the reek of blood from the surroundings.
The source of the floral scent was Song Qing.
Without saying anything, Qin Ruan stepped towards the Yin Yang Sect.
Following behind her were Wu Fan, the perilous Yanxuan, Jin Huo, and a group of Cultivators and Mystic Masters.
As soon as they stepped through the great gate of the Yin Yang Sect, an oppressive wave of Evil Qi and the aura of death hit them, making it hard to breathe; they were surrounded by tall trees and bizarrely vicious beast sculptures, creating an atmospherically ominous and eerie setting.
Qin Ruan frowned and asked the three-tailed fox walking ahead, "Why has no one come out to greet us?"
They did not deliberately conceal their movements, so it stands to reason that the people of the Yin Yang Sect would be aware of visitors.
The three-tailed fox answered any question, "Every night, the people of the Yin Yang Sect must absorb the Essence of Sun and Moon behind the mountains of their sect, and release the Spirit Demons they have refined within their bodies to enhance their own cultivation."
Qin Ruan looked up at a round moon in the sky, at the time when the Essence of Sun and Moon was at its richest.
A wisp of a female Puppet’s lost soul floated towards them, her face deathly pale, wearing a tattered red dress that looked like fragments, and her blood-red eyes stared at their group.
Qin Ruan suddenly asked out of curiosity, "Does the Yin Yang Sect have female disciples?"
The three-tailed fox’s expression changed dramatically, and under the light of the moon and the dark lanterns of the Yin Yang Sect, she seemed somewhat gloomy.
In a heavy voice, she said, "No, women here only serve one purpose, which is to enhance the cultivation of the Yin Yang Sect disciples. Not a single woman can leave this place alive."
Qin Ruan’s gentle eyes turned icy cold, and she emitted a sharp aura all around her.
The female Puppet that was previously mentioned had floated right in front of them, and only then did Qin Ruan realize that what she thought was a red dress was actually soaked in blood, as if marinated in a pool of blood.
The intense smell of blood that was nauseating surged towards her, almost making her vomit.
A thread of Nether Power from Qin Ruan’s fingertips shot onto the body of the female Puppet Soul, and her fierce features instantly reverted to her pre-death delicate appearance, while the bloody clothes were transformed into silk gauze dresses.
The female Puppet seemed shocked, not expecting her body to be cleansed of resentment and restored to its neat pre-death appearance; her delicate face showed an expression of surprise.
Qin Ruan passed by the female Puppet without a sideward glance, and, led by the three-tailed fox, headed towards the mountains behind the Yin Yang Sect.
Along the way, she saw all sorts of resentful spirits. Whenever she encountered Puppets with thick resentment on them, she would cleanse them of their Evil Qi.
After a long trek, the group finally arrived at the back mountain of the Yin Yang Sect.
The three-tailed fox hid behind a large tree and pointed towards a large expanse of boulders ahead, where disciples of the Yin Yang Sect dressed in blue Taoist robes were seated one after another.
"They are over there. The Spirit Demons squatting beside the Yin Yang Sect disciples are very fierce, and among them, two are the Spirit Demons of the Yin Yang Sect elders. Even I can’t defeat them," she said, her voice trembling, her fingers curling as she held onto the tree, revealing her immense fear of those two Spirit Demons.
Qin Ruan’s deep and cold eyes surveyed the thirty or so Yin Yang Sect disciples not far away, and in a chilly voice, she asked, "What about the others?"
"Either they are out on missions, or they are slacking off," the three-tailed fox raised her hand and pointed toward a cave opposite them in the air, "or they could be indulging in unseemly acts within there."
Qin Ruan looked in the direction she was pointing, and whether it was psychological or not, she smelled a faint scent of sweet osmanthus.
"Elder Bayu, save me!"
Suddenly, Ayong, who had been pretending to be dead all along, cried out to the people of the Yin Yang Sect who were sitting on the giant rocks.
The three-tailed fox’s eyes flashed red as she crisply chopped toward the back of his neck.
Ayong, who had been conserving his strength all this time, was knocked unconscious.
Even though the three-tailed fox was quick, it was already too late.
The disciples of the Yin Yang Sect up ahead, with sullen eyes, all cast their gaze towards the doorway where Qin Ruan and her companions were.
With no other choice, Qin Ruan walked out confidently, appearing in front of everyone’s sight.
Song Qing followed close behind her, showing no fear, with excitement brimming in his eyes, eager to try.
Behind them were Wu Fan, Yanxuan, Jin Huo, and the rest of their group.
An elder stood up from the boulder, "Who are you?!"
The black snake coiled beside him also slowly raised its head.
