Chapter 1010: Chapter 1010: The Young Crown Prince Huo Is Going to School, Second Master Huo’s Poison Has Been Cured
Qin Xiaowu stood on the desolate road, the wind howling in her ears, the treetops swaying left and right in the wind, casting dancing shadows and rustling leaves.
Feelings of loneliness and helplessness surged in her heart, and Qin Xiaowu stood by the roadside, hugging herself with both arms.
At the end of the street, the familiar roar of a car engine sounded again.
She looked up to see a dazzling beam of light coming her way.
Suddenly, the dream collapsed into darkness, and Qin Ruan gasped for air as she lay in bed, sitting up abruptly.
The warm sun penetrated through the sheer curtains into the room, shining on her and dispelling the cold feeling from the dream.
"Mommy had a dream?"
"Mommy, are you okay?"
Huo Yao and Huo Anqi lay beside Qin Ruan, each hugging one of her legs.
Hearing her sons’ concern, Qin Ruan’s oppressed feelings eased. She let out a soft breath, hugged the two children to her chest, and leaned back against the headboard, relaxed.
She asked casually, "Where’s Daddy?"
Huo Yao, lying in her embrace, spoke clearly, "There are guests at home."
Huo Anqi immediately added, "It’s the same people from yesterday."
The visitors from the day before were Fu Yinru and Fu Ziqiu. Thinking of the night’s perilous race car incident with Yin Tianlin, Qin Ruan could guess the Fu Family’s intentions.
She wasn’t too concerned about these matters, her gaze fell on Huo Yao and Huo Anqi, revealing a pondering expression.
After a long look, Qin Ruan said uncertainly, "Ayao, Anqi, isn’t it time for you to go to school?"
She would be starting school in a few days; although Ayao and Anqi seemed young, they were developing quite quickly.
They appeared to be the same age as two or three-year-old children and were more mature than the average child, able to express their thoughts and ideas through clear speech.
At the mention of school, Huo Yao and Huo Anqi tilted their heads, their similar, cute faces showing confusion.
The older brother asked, "Is school fun?"
The younger brother also curiously asked, "Will there be other little friends?"
Qin Ruan smiled with pursed lips, rubbing their little heads, "There are other children at school; you can try it out to see if you like the environment. Sooner or later, you will need to learn, think, and accept new knowledge, which will help you better understand the world."
Going to school would allow children to integrate with their peers, benefiting their mental and physical health.
Huo Yao and Huo Anqi exchanged a glance, their similar faces showing an eager willingness to try.
To them, staying at home every day was not as fun as playing with other children.
How they played would be up to them to decide.
"Okay!"
Huo Yao and Huo Anqi nodded in agreement.
"Why don’t we send them to Shengshi Academy’s kindergarten? They could go with Ruanruan?"
A pleasant and smiling voice interrupted the tender moment between mother and sons.
Huo Yunjiao appeared at an unknown time, leaning elegantly against the doorframe.
Qin Ruan looked up, seeing his distinct and fair face emerge into her view, her eyes lighting up with a strange glow as she watched him and chuckled, "Then Ayao and Anqi will be able to go to and from school with me every day?"
Huo Yunjiao walked toward the trio, a joyful smile on his face, "That would be nice; I can drive you to and from school every day."
Huo Anqi, lying in Qin Ruan’s arms, suddenly opened his little arms, "Hug—"
The affection on the little Crown Prince’s face left no room for refusal.
Huo Yunjiao bent down to pick him up and sat next to Qin Ruan, saying, "If you agree, I’ll have someone arrange the enrollment procedures for the children."
Qin Ruan looked at her two sons and shrugged, "You have to ask Ayao and Anqi."
Huo Yao quickly said, "I have no objections."
Holding the small hand of his third uncle, Huo Anqi slowly uttered, "I have none either."
Qin Ruan rubbed Huo Yao’s head, speaking tenderly and affectionately, "Then we’ll send you to school. It won’t be boring with other little friends there."
The third uncle Huo was very decisive in action. He immediately called Huo Qiang, instructing him to handle the enrollment procedures for Huo Yao and Huo Anqi.
Shengshi Academy was founded by the Huo Family. Though the necessary procedures had to be followed, they had the most convenient shortcuts compared to others.
After Huo Yunjiao hung up the phone, Qin Ruan asked him, "Did the Fu Family come calling?"
Third Uncle put his phone on the nightstand and replied, "Fu Yueyuan and Fu Yinru father and son came because of the incident with Yin Tianlin last night."
Qin Ruan frowned and asked, "Was the brake failure investigated?"
Huo Yunjiao answered, "The Yin Family angered the underground forces down south. Someone wanted Yin Tianlin dead. The Fu Family said they would intervene and resolve the issue and also brought some gifts as thanks."
Qin Ruan hummed in acknowledgment without further inquiry, as she didn’t have much interest in the affairs of the Yin Family.
Seeing her lack of interest, Huo Yunjiao shifted to another topic, "Ruanruan, in a few days, I will represent the Huo Family at the coronation ceremony of the Queen of Fuluo Country. I might need to stay there for a while.
Before returning to the country, I also have to visit Northern England. Black Feather Wing had previously planned an experiment in a town there, but due to early notification from the Cabinet, the Royal Family initiated a state of readiness, and right now they are in a state of full alert.
The Huo Family needs a representative to negotiate a weapons deal with the Royal Family, and I will personally talk with them. Would you like to join me? Maybe visit your grandfather and uncles while we’re there?"
Qin Ruan only knew that he was going to Fuluo Country, not that he was also going to Northern England.
Thinking of her grandfather and uncle, whom she had recognized before the new year, she shook her head after a moment’s thought, "I’m not going. It’s almost time for school to start."
Looking at her long lashes hanging down, Huo Yunjiao’s deep eyes sparkled with a different light, and he assured her, "Then I will come back as soon as possible."
Qin Ruan showed concern, "Will you be in danger?"
Huo Yunjiao was pleased, gently ruffling her hair, and soothed her in a gentle voice, "Don’t worry, this time I represent not only the Huo Family, there shouldn’t be any trouble."
If that was the case, Qin Ruan had nothing to worry about.
However, she didn’t know that the purpose of Third Master’s trip this time was not as simple as it seemed.
In the following days, Qin Ruan stayed at home accompanying the children.
The Huo Family’s home, which should have been at its liveliest during the festival, was incredibly quiet instead.
Before the festival, Huo Yunjiao had created a huge stir over Qin Ruan being besieged by the Cabinet’s Guard Squad, causing a lot of trouble for the Cabinet.
This year, everyone in the Cabinet couldn’t return home; they were busy every day, hardly having a moment’s rest.
Even Huo Junxin and his wife Long Wei were separated, one in the Capital City and the other in Fuluo Country, marking the first time they had spent the new year apart in many years of marriage.
However, some good developments occurred; most of the power within the Fuluo Country’s Royal Family was taken over by members of the Cabinet, who supported the ascension of the Royal Family’s only surviving princess. Many affairs and powers there needed to be redistributed.
Because of this, Huo Yunjiao had been very busy these past few days.
Since returning to the country, Huo Chuan had been in and out of the small building every day, and when Qin Ruan occasionally saw him, he always had a solemn and strict demeanor.
Huo Yunyun, together with Josh, would occasionally visit the small building, aiming to see Huo Yao and Huo Anqi.
Finding out that the two little ones were about to start school, Auntie Huo was at first incredulous and very worried, but after a few days of interaction and seeing their cleverness and agility, she felt quite relieved.
Huo Yirong’s health was slowly improving, and he often came to the small building.
However, Qin Ruan never saw Song Qing, not even once.
She had asked Huo Yirong about it once, and he had replied with a smile that Song Qing was eating and drinking well and his body was recovering.
The two of them, because of the matters related to removing the poisonous insect, were not inseparable, but they would be entangled with each other for several years to come.
Seeing Huo Yirong’s pale face, which was even more sullen than before he was infected with the insect, Qin Ruan guessed that he had experienced significant emotional fluctuations recently.
However, whenever Huo Yao and Huo Anqi were around, he would show a smile on his wan and sickly face.
Time passed, and the day of Huo Yunjiao’s departure arrived.
Qin Ruan, dealing with her sore and aching body, thoroughly wrapped up to keep her neck well-covered, personally saw Third Master off on the Huo Family’s private plane.
There were many people leaving with him this time, not only Huo Qiang, Huo Chuan, and the Huo Family Hidden Guard, but also a negotiation team arranged by the Cabinet, and an elite team from the HEA Group.
The Secret Guard Department of the Huo Family was now under Qin Ruan’s control, and to avoid other unforeseen risks, she arranged for two-thirds of the elite guards to be by Third Master’s side.
Qin Ruan, with her hands in her pockets, stood on the takeoff line, gazing at the plane heading farther and farther into the sky. Recalling last night’s madness, she let out a soft sigh.
Sitting in his wheelchair, Huo Yirong, hearing Qin Ruan’s sigh, teased her with a chuckle.
"Sister-in-law, are you starting to miss Third Brother now that he’s just left?"
Qin Ruan glanced at him sideways with downcast eyes and, seeing his improved complexion, spoke in a light tone, "Brother Yirong seems to be in a good mood today?"
Huo Yirong leaned on his wheelchair with a languid posture, his face, pale just yesterday, displaying a hint of color today.
With a smile in his eyes, he propped up his chin with one hand and said to Qin Ruan, "Indeed, I am. Tomorrow, Huo Qi will come to the Capital City, and he’ll join the company and help me bear some burdens. Soon I will start to retire," he teased.
Qin Ruan, with a composed stride, walked up to Huo Yirong, "Is that right? It seems to me your health is turning for the better, isn’t it?"
She rested one hand on the armrest of the wheelchair and concentrated the Nether Divine Power in her other hand, pressing it towards his chest.
"Ugh!"
A sharp pain in his heart struck, and Huo Yirong couldn’t help grunting, his features twisting with the agony he bore.
Qin Ruan, having discovered that the lethal Life-Eroding Sun Insect inside his chest had vanished, asked with grave concern, "What happened last night?"
The poisonous insect wouldn’t just disappear for no reason, unless Song Qing, the drug primer, had drawn it out.
Noticing Qin Ruan’s serious expression, Huo Yirong’s clear and pained face showed confusion, "What’s going on?"
Qin Ruan’s eyebrows were tightly furrowed as she said, "Brother Yirong, the Life-Eroding Sun Insect inside you is gone."
"Impossible!" Huo Yirong instinctively contested.
No sooner had he spoken than his complexion slightly changed.
Thinking of how his heart had stopped aching since the morning, along with the lightness of his whole body and the comfort seeping through every pore, Huo Yirong’s mouth fell open, unsure of how to rebut, already doubting within.
He murmured distractedly, "Why is it gone?"
He didn’t know when the insect had vanished or why he, the party involved, had no clue whatsoever.
Huo Yirong didn’t even consider the possibility that Qin Ruan might be deceiving him; no one would joke about such a matter.
Qin Ruan rolled her eyes at him, "That’s what I want to ask you. Weren’t you with Song Qing last night?"
The question was asked rather subtly.
Bluntly put, she was asking if he had been intimate with Song Qing last night.
