Chapter 1008: Chapter 1008: As soon as J God’s name is mentioned, Qin Ruan remembers an old friend not seen for a long time

Huo Qiang, Huo Zhi, Qin Mei, Afen, and others who were left behind quickly closed in.

They had sensed that something was wrong before, and upon witnessing the wrecked state of Yin Tianlin’s sports car, the Rolls-Royce with a deformed front due to the collision, and seeing Huo Yunjiao and Qin Ruan standing in front of the cars, everyone’s hearts were in their throats.

Qin Mei was the most anxious among them; he parked the car in a safe area and ran towards them at a breakneck speed as if fleeing from a ghost.

He rushed up to Huo Yunjiao and Qin Ruan, his eyes filled with unease and worry, scanning his sister up and down.

"Ruanruan, are you alright?!"

Qin Ruan shook her head, "I’m fine."

"You scared me to death!" Qin Mei said, patting his rapidly beating heart, with a look of having just survived a disaster.

The Huo Family’s Hidden Guard had already arrived, brandishing weapons to protect the third master and Qin Ruan in the middle, aiming their weapons at Ahui and others who were stepping out of their cars.

Because of this sudden event, Qin Mei stood frozen, his fox-like eyes wide open.

From his close inspection, he could tell that these people were holding real weapons.

Although he was not well-versed in weapons, from their appearances, he could tell how advanced they were.

Yin Tianlin staggered out of the wrecked Aston Martin; he held his head with one hand, and blood oozed from his wound, seeping through his fingers.

Qin Ruan instinctively looked at him, scanning him up and down, confirming that he had only suffered minor injuries.

Given the fierce crash, Yin Tianlin had faced a danger that was either fatal or severely injurious.

She turned to look at the man standing next to her and couldn’t help but whistle, "Phew!"

As Huo Yunjiao lowered his glance, Qin Ruan, full of admiration, sincerely complimented, "Third Master, you were simply stunning!"

That wasn’t enough, she gave him a thumbs-up, her fox-like eyes brimming with bright light.

Bathed in his little wife’s admiring and worshipful gaze, and the heartfelt praise, even the normally composed Huo Yunjiao couldn’t help but feel slightly elated.

He coughed lightly, pressing his fist to his lips to hide the unseemly smile on his face, and calmly told Qin Ruan, "To receive praise from Madam makes me very happy."

Qin Mei, completely bewildered, blurted out, interrupting the couple’s warm atmosphere, "What exactly happened, how did that guy crash?"

Qin Ruan replied, "His brakes failed."

A brake failure is a very serious malfunction, especially during a race; it could likely cost someone their life.

Yin Tianlin stood in the distance, his gaze piercing through the Huo Family’s Hidden Guard focusing on the third master and Qin Ruan.

Bearing the headache, he walked up to the modified Rolls-Royce, examining it seriously.

If it weren’t for this car at the rear, which blocked the impact force from his crash into the tree, he would have had no chance of still standing here alive.

Just three meters back was the road guardrail; given the force at that critical moment, his Aston Martin would never have been stopped by the guardrail—it would have definitely flown down the valley with him in it.

Ahui and others tentatively walked towards Yin Tianlin, and seeing that the Huo Family’s Hidden Guard did not stop them, they quickened their pace and rushed over.

Ahui, visibly tense, asked, "Tianlin bro, what exactly happened?"

Yin Tianlin removed the hand covering his forehead, his gaze lowering to see his palm covered in blood, his expression involuntarily showing disgust.

He casually said, "The brakes failed, and I almost died here."

Not a trace of fear or fright was visible as if all these were nothing out of the ordinary.

Ahui’s expression drastically changed upon hearing this, "How could the brakes fail? We had thoroughly checked before to ensure all vehicles were safe."

Engaging in such extreme sports, they cherished their lives; they always conducted rigorous checks before every race.

Yin Tianlin’s gaze indifferently swept across everyone, settling on a young man who looked unnaturally perturbed.

The latter’s expression of panic flashed briefly, giving Yin Tianlin a forced, flattering smile that was both guilty and ingratiating.

Yin Tianlin shifted his gaze and joked to Ahui, "Maybe King Yama didn’t like me, wanted to take my life, but something went wrong, and a noble saved me."

"Ptui! Ptui! Ptui!"

Ahui quickly patted Yin Tianlin’s back, "Tianlin bro, let’s not talk about such unlucky things!"

He appeared more anxious and scared than the person involved.

In hardship, true feelings are revealed, and Yin Tianlin’s gaze fixed on Ahui.

Though Ahui didn’t come from a notable background and had been with him for a few years as the least significant being around him, this person seemed unambitious yet possessed a heart of integrity, most importantly, he knew how to adapt to situations.

Yin Tianlin, putting his arm around his shoulder, pointed to the third master’s vehicle, "Can you tell the level of modification on this car?"

Ahui followed his gaze, and in just one glance, he was utterly captivated.

"Damn! What is this?"

His eyes were fixed tightly on the sharp tools protruding from underneath the car plate, lodged immovably into the road.

Yin Tianlin spoke solemnly, "It was this car that saved my life."

At the moment the car collided with the tree, when he felt the despair of approaching death, he actually hadn’t felt much pain in his head.

The only thought in his mind was that he was about to die.

Everything went dark before his eyes, he didn’t have time to think about anything.

His mind went blank, and he had no time to think of anything; the only baffling thing was why the brakes had failed.

Ahui was attracted to Third Master’s special vehicle, squatted down, and looked at the modified Rolls Royce with sparkling eyes, occasionally letting out exclamations.

"This car seems to have been modified to the highest level of protection."

He touched the steel that felt chilling to the touch, firmly embedded in the road surface, and murmured, "This support frame has lifted the car up, this texture doesn’t feel like anything sold outside ..."

Yin Tianlin listened to his chatter, wiped the blood off his forehead with his sleeve, and turned to walk toward Huo Yunjiao and Qin Ruan.

Halfway there, he was stopped by Huo Qiang and Huo Zhi.

No longer carrying his previous arrogant demeanor, Yin Tianlin stood still and thanked the couple speaking in low voices, "Thank you for saving my life today, Third Master and Madam."

Huo Yunjiao lifted his eyes, his cold gaze swept over him, and he spoke in an even tone, "It was nothing."

Yin Tianlin’s gaze was firmly fixed on him, his voice slightly deepened, "Third Master is too modest. There’s something I don’t understand, please enlighten me."

Huo Yunjiao nodded slightly to him, distantly yet politely responded, "Go ahead."

Yin Tianlin, "I wonder what relationship you have with the mysterious racer J God who became famous worldwide more than a decade ago, sweeping through top racers in various countries and setting one legend after another by breaking every record."

As soon as the name of J God was mentioned, Qin Ruan’s pupils shrank sharply.

That was her old friend, someone whose face she never saw, but whose youthful and cheerful laughter she remembered.

Huo Yunjiao didn’t notice Qin Ruan’s reaction. Hearing that long-lost name, his eyebrows involuntarily rose, and his fingers curled around Qin Ruan’s shoulder.

A faint smile appeared on his face, and he said to Yin Tianlin, "I didn’t expect people to remember after all these years."

In Yin Tianlin’s eyes, a fiery glow flashed, and his voice shook, "You are J God!"

His tone was certain, excited, and there was an unmistakable quiver in his voice.

"I haven’t raced in many years," Huo Yunjiao didn’t deny it and, with a smile in his eyes, looked Yin Tianlin over, asking, "How old were you back then?"

With this almost an acknowledgment, Yin Tianlin’s face flushed with excitement.

He looked like he was seeing his idol, his eyes full of admiration, "The first time I watched J God’s racing video I was seven years old; then I collected many of his racing videos and specifically studied his tricky techniques and high-end driving skills.

The Kiss of Death in reverse into a curve left the deepest impression, as obviously in this world, apart from J God, no one else could do it. Tonight was the first time I’ve witnessed it with my own eyes, and apart from J God, there’s no second person who could achieve it."

Huo Yunjiao looked doubtful, he remarked with a sigh, "In a blink of an eye, it’s been over a decade; I didn’t expect people to still remember. I used to enjoy playing too, but now I’m old, not like you young people."

He didn’t see it, but Qin Ruan, hearing his words, clenched her fists tightly by her side.

J God, it’s been too long!

If it hadn’t been for tonight’s incident, she might never have remembered, the carefree youth tucked deep into her memory.

Qin Ruan’s eyes slightly widened and were unfocused, yet a burning light burst from them.

Her mind was filled with blurry memories of the past—gentle head-patting gestures, hearty laughter, and care from a stranger—"Little sister, go home early."

But back then, where did she have a home?

She stood alone at the street corner, watching the fast-disappearing car of unknown value, holding the things given to her, as her heart of despair slowly revived.

The distant memories, tangled like threads, became clearer with each recollection.

Qin Ruan’s breathing slowly became labored as she struggled to stabilize the complex emotions she couldn’t express, forcibly suppressing the impulse to confirm again with Third Master.

Ahui and the others had their ears perked up the moment Yin Tianlin mentioned the legendary J God.

At this moment, hearing Huo Yunjiao personally admit it, they all exclaimed in surprise.

"It really is J God!"

"Holy shit! I’ve seen the living J God!"

Ahui gave a glance to the person who spoke, "Watch your mouth, careful or you’ll risk your life!"

The other person’s eyes widened slightly, recalling Third Master’s identity, and quickly said, "Sorry, it was just the excitement."

Yin Tianlin was no less excited, staring at Third Master.

He had never thought that one day, he would see the idol he had adored since childhood with his own eyes, and he was desperate to pay his respects.

But Huo Qiang and Huo Zhi were in the way, preventing him from rushing forward.

Huo Yunjiao, being watched with such adoring eyes by Yin Tianlin, felt a sense of calm in his heart.

Compared to Qin Ruan’s earlier praise, there was still a big difference in mood.

Seeing Ahui and the others crowd forward, watching him with ’eager eyes’, Huo Yunjiao asked Yin Tianlin in a gentle tone, "Do you need any help?"

This evening’s incident was clearly not simple; if the other party asked, he wouldn’t mind lending a hand again.

The excitement faded from Yin Tianlin’s face as he remembered tonight’s near-death experience, a sinister gleam appeared in his eyes.

He pressed his lips tightly together and shook his head at Third Master, "No need, I can handle it myself."

The specifics of tonight’s incident were still unclear; he needed to go back and inform his uncle and cousin.

Huo Yunjiao smiled faintly, "That’s good."

He lowered his gaze to Qin Ruan and asked, "Shall we go home?"

Qin Ruan, now calm, nodded at him, "Yes."

The two turned and walked away hand in hand, getting into the closest Koenigsegg super SUV.
