You said you hated men, why are your eyes now full of love?
Vol. 2 - Ch. 123 - The Enchantress and the Demon

Reborn...

Time rewound to seven years before the day she jumped.

Sitting before the vanity, Yu Hua felt as if she were living in another lifetime.

Her gaze fell upon the mirror, where a large red birthmark covered most of her face, like a searing brand. It was grotesque and jarring.

In her previous life, she always stood out in a crowd, the kind of person others avoided like the plague.

The irregular crimson blotch twisted across her skin in strange, eerie patterns. It looked unnatural, almost sinister. No one dared come near her, as if misfortune might rub off on them.

Everything beautiful and warm always seemed destined to pass her by. She was someone the world had cast into a forgotten corner.

This belief had solidified in her previous life when she was sealed in an ancient well.

Yu Hua paused.

Her thoughts drifted unbidden to that sunny afternoon.

The boy lifted the heavy stone slab, and sunlight spilled over him, outlining his tall figure in golden brilliance. In that moment, the shadows and nightmares clinging to her soul were completely dispelled.

From that day on, she no longer had to relive the memory of standing on top of the high-rise, preparing to jump.

She no longer dwelt on being beaten and scolded by the Yu family or being thrown outside in the dead of winter while shivering in thin clothes.

Instead, the image of that quiet, refined boy lingered in her mind, etched into her memory and never fading.

"Ji Mu..."

She closed her eyes. The tangled emotions in her heart became countless streams that converged into an ocean of wind and rain crashing against the reef of her soul.

This time, I'll find out why you chose to help me in that way.

Why did you choose to help me that way?

When she opened her eyes again, all the turmoil had been buried deep, hidden beneath a calm, unreadable surface.

Her fingers gently brushed over the glaring birthmark, silently reliving bitter memories of the past. This was her final goodbye to all that hardship.

Goodbye.

It's truly time to start anew.

The very next moment, the red birthmark on her face began to fade as if a miracle were unfolding before her eyes.

Bathed in a gentle, jade-like glow, her skin gradually returned to its original state: milky white, smooth, and flawless. It was as delicate as if it could break at a touch.

It resembled the skin of a newborn child or the purest jade under moonlight.

This was no illusion, no fleeting dream.

It was real.

The mark of fate that had haunted her in the past had finally faded away.

Staring into the mirror at her face, which had once been ridiculed by the world, she now saw a radiance unlike anything she had seen before—so breathtakingly beautiful that it took her breath away.

Yet there was neither sorrow nor joy on Yu Hua's face.

The red birthmark had truly been the first shackle of her succubus bloodline.

In her previous life, she stumbled and struggled through countless hardships before accidentally discovering the key to awakening it.

How utterly laughable.

BANG BANG BANG—

Suddenly, a series of loud, unrestrained knocks slammed against the door with no hint of courtesy.

The rare moment of peace was shattered, but Yu Hua's expression didn't change.

"You Little Mute! Still lazing around in bed this late? Get your lazy ass out here!"

Hearing the familiar curses, she calmly tidied the scattered items on the desk. Then, she rose and walked to the door with unhurried grace.

She turned the lock and opened the door.

The young woman standing outside still had her hand raised, mid-knock, her face twisted with impatience.

"I knocked so many times before you opened. Are you looking to die or—"

The string of insults she had prepared lodged in her throat the moment her eyes landed on the girl's face, which was so stunning it defied belief.

Her eyes widened into perfect circles, and her expression was swiftly overtaken by disbelief.

"You...you..."

"Have you forgotten the rules already? The Yu family didn't take you in so you could live in comfort."

Just then, Yu Hua's second brother happened to pass by and chimed in, scolding: "Remember your place!"

But his voice cut off abruptly in the next second, as if he had just witnessed something utterly unimaginable.

The siblings' reactions were nearly identical.

For a long moment, silence reigned.

Finally, snapping out of his shock, the second young master of the Yu family squinted slightly as if trying to confirm what he was seeing. With uncertainty in his voice, he asked, "Yu... Hua?"

The girl's expression didn't change; she only nodded slightly.

"Your face..."

His voice trembled as his shock reached its peak.

Her exquisitely sculpted features filled his vision.

Her long, dark hair cascaded like a waterfall over her shoulders, outshining even the most elaborate hairstyles.

She looked like a celestial maiden who had stepped out of a painting, untouched by the mortal world.

For a moment, a dazed look flickered in Yu Hua's second brother's eyes.

Is this really the same gloomy, ugly girl from before...?

Now that the red birthmark was gone, her entire aura and appearance were worlds apart, like heaven and earth.

Seeing the scene unfold, the young woman beside them felt a surge of jealousy blaze within her.

"It's just a birthmark disappearing. What's there to be so shocked about?" she sneered, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

"No wonder you acted all high and mighty and made us wait at the door. Turns out you've turned into some seductive little fox."

"Enough, little sister."

Yu Hua's second brother cut her off, his displeasure evident.

For the first time, he stood up for the girl.

"No matter what, Yu Hua is still part of our family. There's no need to speak so harshly."

But those words only served to further enrage the young woman.

As the most pampered princess in the Yu family, she had never experienced such humiliation.

It's all that Little Mute's fault!

Why couldn't she just stay meek and worthless like before? Now, not even Second Brother was on her side.

"Why should I be the one to back down?"

The twisted look on her face vanished in an instant as she stepped forward, her high heels striking the floor with sharp, rapid clicks.

"Don't forget, no matter how much you've changed, you're still the lowest servant in our family!" Her raised voice was shrill and piercing.

Second Brother frowned slightly but said nothing.

Seeing that the girl was unmoved, he stepped in to ease the tension. "I apologize. My little sister was a bit too harsh. Please don't take it to heart."

His voice was gentle, and his demeanor was warm and considerate.

Yu Hua watched his performance in silence.

"It's getting late. Let me take you to breakfast," he offered casually, reaching out to place a hand around her slender waist as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

His intentions were all too clear.

Yu Hua tilted her body slightly, effortlessly evading his wandering hand.

His attempt to take advantage of the moment failed.

"It seems you're quite unwilling to get along with your brother."

His smile was all surface, polite and refined, yet completely devoid of warmth. His mask of gentlemanly friendliness shattered completely.

Ungrateful wretch.

Just an adopted daughter. Did she really think that a few sweet words gave her any real standing?

"Little sister, you may leave now."

He narrowed his eyes. "I suspect Yu Hua used unsavory means to get rid of the birthmark on her face. I must examine her thoroughly alone."

What kind of examination he meant went without saying.

Ignoring the young woman's gloating gaze, Yu Hua felt only boredom.

After all, she had already experienced this scene in her previous life.

Back then, after she had restored her appearance, some of the Yu family had planned to drug and rape her.

However, she had just awakened her bloodline powers and effortlessly slaughtered them all, crushing their filthy, depraved scheme before it could take root.

Yu Hua didn't mind getting her hands bloody again.

At most, she'd just need a few extra baths to wash off the stench afterward.

It was as if a watermelon had suddenly burst open, spraying bright red juice in all directions and leaving vivid stains on the pristine white walls.

But this wasn't a watermelon.

It was the head of Yu Hua's second brother.
