Chapter 982: Chapter 99: Transfer

"Are you still looking forward to it?" Pannis shouted to Catherine, who was just behind him on the back of a Horned Eagle Beast, "If you’re still looking forward to it ... we could let them go faster. I definitely ... wouldn’t mind."

"What did you say?" Catherine squinted her eyes against the strong wind pressure, a sensation of being choked by the wind overtaking her whenever she opened her mouth. Her black hair fluttered behind her, nearly forming a line vertical to her body. Despite this, the knightly girl still managed a look of innocence, mischievously blinking as she spoke, "The wind is too strong, I can’t hear clearly."

Not long ago, the skyboat had finally arrived at the edge of the forest, silently hovering over the prairie. Looking down from the skyboat, all one could see was a vast expanse of deep green. Countless gigantic plants surged from the ground, stretching towards the sky as much as they could. Under the sunlight, each leaf reflected a bright white glow. A light mist rose from the gaps between the trees, and even from high above, the dull roars of beasts in the forest could faintly be heard. A few monkeys parted the leaves and poked their little heads out of the treetops, gazing up at the enormous creature floating two hundred meters above them. Although these monkey magical beasts were intelligent, they still couldn’t comprehend what the massive object was, staring blankly in surprise, not even noticing the fruits in their mouths falling to the ground.

Although it had been decided earlier, the next step in the journey was to fly directly to the Elven Royal Court on Horned Eagle Beasts. The girls had initially thought they would land and then transfer to the Horned Eagle Beasts, worrying about the remote and desolate wilderness where there was no airport for the skyboat to land. Unexpectedly, the skyboat merely hovered in place without any intention to land, lingering briefly before a dark shadow rushed from afar, skimming the treetops and stirring up a wave-like disturbance through the Sea of Trees. With the help of the Hawkeye Spell, the girls quickly made out the form of the dark shadow; it was dozens of robust Horned Eagle Beasts, led by their leader, closing in on their position and slowly circling around the skyboat. There were only a few beast tamers riding on some of the Horned Eagle Beasts, the rest had empty backs; undoubtedly, these were the transportation prepared by the elves to welcome this unprecedentedly grand group of visitors.

On the skyboat, the forest guard leader blew a loud whistle. A few tamers encircling the perimeter seemed to receive some orders, making several exaggerated gestures. Suddenly, dozens of Horned Eagle Beasts approached the skyboat and one by one landed on the deck. Although the Horned Eagle Beasts weren’t too large, only about four meters in length, along with the sixty that originally escorted the ship, the numbers had reached around one hundred, nearly covering half of the deck. Luckily, Flare, seeing the situation was amiss, promptly gave orders. The sixty Horned Eagle Beasts accompanying the knights quickly took flight, preventing the skyboat from overloading and plummeting. Only then did the girls realize that with the skyboat as an intermediate stop, there was indeed no need to land on the ground; they could simply transfer in mid-air.

"This is the transportation prepared for everyone," Flare said, regaining her graceful demeanor like a daffodil, pointing at the magical beasts squatting and resting on the deck, smiling softly, "It’s a special product of the Lost Forest, one of the fastest flying magical beasts in the Lost Forest. If everyone is ready, let’s get going. It’s getting late, and we should try to return to the Forest King’s Court as soon as possible. We received a lot of hospitality during our time away from the forest, and now that you have come to our homeland, it’s my turn to repay everyone."

"That’s truly a pity," Odin sighed, "I won’t have the chance to enjoy the delicacies of the forest again."

"So, we’re going back now?" According to the plan, Nicholas, Snape, and Odin were not to enter the forest. Nicholas and Snape were not strong enough, and Odin had to stay in the City of Knowledge since at least one Demigod needed to be present to handle any sudden situations, especially since Chairman Antuin was entering the forest with the team. Even if Odin was worried about his daughter, he could only reluctantly return to the Holy City. This had all been decided earlier, yet Flare kindly insisted, "You could have easily come to the Forest King’s Court first, just to visit friends. Otherwise, if those people know you came to the edge of the forest and didn’t visit them, they might feel hurt."

"Hmm..." Odin hesitated for a moment, still breaking into a wry smile, shaking his head and saying, "Forget it, it was not easy to say goodbye, it was not easy to make that decision. I’m afraid if I go in there, I won’t be able to let her leave, and wouldn’t that be too selfish?"

"Tsk tsk, look what I’ve found, a pitiful father." Pannis suddenly appeared behind Odin, patting his shoulder and joking, "Since the child has grown up, let go and let her fly. To reach where we are now, who hasn’t lived through days when putting life at risk was the norm. Just think, if she can successfully get through this, her achievements might even surpass yours in the future, given that you have never done something as crazy as rushing into the Forest of Death in your twenties."

"Sigh, I understand that principle, but..." Odin wanted to say something more but eventually just shook his head, deeply sighing and saying, "Forget it, she’s already a Legendary strong one, she knows what she’s doing. Me, as a father, interfering too much would only make me annoying, alas, I hope she can take good care of herself."

"She certainly can," Pannis comforted, "Growing up by your side, seeing environments like that, she knows how to take care of herself better than anyone."

"Mr. Kyle," Odin suddenly grasped Pannis’s arm, earnestly saying, "I’m asking you, please take good care of that child, let her come back alive, I can’t bear the pain of losing a loved one again."

"I will do my best, but, I can’t make you any promises," Pannis looked in the direction of the Southeast Sighing Desert, deeply sighed and said, "There are always some things in this world that, no matter how hard you try, just can’t be achieved, and I dare not be sure that taking good care of her won’t be one of those."

Odin gave a bitter smile. Of course, he had heard of Pannis’s past, thus he understood his state of mind and could only helplessly say, "Anyway, as long as you promise to do your best, I’m already very satisfied."

"Tsk tsk, it’s not about whether I promise or not," Pannis resumed his teasing tone, glancing at the position of the girls, "Under their coercion, it’s a matter of whether I dare not to do my best."
