Chapter 913: Chapter 30 Maya

"Hey, hey, what are you doing?" Catherine’s face turned red as she punched Pannis in the back several times, laughing and crying at the same time, "Why did you suddenly start shouting like that, and shouting my name, too? What the hell are you trying to do, jerk? I’ll kill you. I should have known you’d never be serious, you definitely knew who was here already, and you just refused to tell us in advance, still trying to make me angry like this. Just tell me who’s inside, quick."

"Sir..." Clearly, the butler was in a similarly amused and exasperated state. The middle-aged man had served here for over twenty years and had often dissuaded guests who lacked the proper status but wanted to enter. Some guests from outside sometimes became dissatisfied; there were the rude ones, the sly ones, the liars. But it was the first time the butler had seen someone like Pannis who, unexpectedly, started shouting loudly into the interior, and although the butler was not a professional, he had seen significant events and could tell that Pannis’s shout was different from a normal shout, seemingly laced with Aggression, allowing his voice to carry smoothly into the distant courtyard. For Pannis’s behavior, the butler was also helpless. He wanted to stop him, but Pannis had no intention of rushing inside, just shouting. Moreover, from the aura and behavior of Pannis and the young girls, it was apparent they weren’t causing trouble but seemed genuinely familiar with the courtyard’s host, currently receiving guests. So, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, the butler could only say with a wry smile, "Sir, if you’re really familiar with the master, you could have just told me, and I would naturally have informed the master of your arrival. There was absolutely no need to shout like that. Luckily there were no other guests around, or it might have disturbed them. Since you’re familiar with the master, you must also have your own status and wouldn’t want to do something undignified like disturbing others, right?"

"Uh, I’m not familiar with your master, it’s others who are," Pannis shrugged, "I just know the guests he’s currently hosting better, that’s all. I didn’t have you inform them because I wanted to spare you the trouble. See how considerate I am?"

"Thank you for your consideration," the butler felt more cold sweat on his forehead and, choked for words, he could only sigh helplessly, "Please, no more shouting, I’ll go and inform them. Please wait a moment."

"Actually, never mind," Pannis pointed towards the shadows of the distant courtyard and said, "They’ve already received my signal, and should be preparing to come out to greet us, uh... I guess you wouldn’t mind us waiting here for a while."

"Of course, of course," the butler chuckled dryly and followed Pannis’s pointing finger, then became speechless, because in his line of sight, in the dark night, a ball of sun suddenly rose from the courtyard. Of course, it wasn’t a real sun but a bright sphere of light that shot straight from the ground into the night sky, circled above the courtyard for a moment, then suddenly streaked across the night sky like a meteor, hurtling towards their standing position at high speed. The butler could only chuckle bitterly; although the establishment had very strict requirements for the identity of guests, others could still enter under the escort of guests with sufficient status. Therefore, there was no need to stop them anymore, especially since he hadn’t forgotten what Pannis had just mentioned, that he wasn’t familiar with the master. So, considering that one of the ladies must be very familiar with the master and recalling the master’s situation, the butler helplessly glanced at Catherine, then meaningfully told Pannis, "If you had informed us earlier, all this trouble could have been avoided."

"You should understand that informing ahead of time wouldn’t have worked," Pannis said with a mysterious smile. "Otherwise, your master would have ended up blaming you. This way, it brought about the best outcome."

"Brother Kyle~~~~" Pannis hadn’t finished speaking when a long, drawn-out call suddenly came from the descending sphere of light, a young girl’s voice as clear as a song approaching from afar, leaving a trail of echoes, "You’ve finally arrived~~~~"

Pannis looked up, about to say something, when the swiftly approaching sphere of light smashed into him head-on, sending him flying back two meters to crash into a roadside farm ditch, and by the time he emerged from the field, his head was covered in weeds and ears of grain.

"Giggling," the girl in the sphere of light laughed crisply, white feathers fluttering down with her flight, most dispersing in the air before even touching the ground, turning into a pure burst of light. The girls had already realized that the girl in the sphere of light was the white-dressed little girl they had seen a few times before, who was one of the heroes of a century ago, the most powerful of the Winged people, and one of the Light and Dark Twins born each generation, the child of light, Maya.

"Where did you learn to greet people like this?" Pannis irately brushed the weeds off his hair, complaining, "If that had been an ordinary person, you would have broken two-thirds of their bones with such a hit."

"Brother Kyle, you’re not an ordinary person, what’s there to be afraid of?" Maya did a flip in the air, cheerfully saying, "I didn’t expect you to come so early; that’s great. By the way, why aren’t you going inside? What are you doing standing at the door for so long, waiting for someone?"

"When you arrive at someone else’s property, you need to show some politeness," Pannis said while twirling a tangible white feather he had plucked from his head. "We can’t just barge around everywhere like you two kids."

"Brother Kyle, you’re so annoying, always saying that." Maya pouted unhappily and muttered a few curse words under her breath, then quickly regained her cheerful demeanor. She grabbed Pannis’s hand and Catherine’s as well, excitedly saying, "Let’s go inside; Tiya and Dillie are still waiting for you inside. Hehe, Tiya was about to come out, but I beat her to it."

"Dillie is there too? Oh, right, he’s evolved into your pet by now," Pannis said, slapping his forehead in realization. "Great, I have something important to discuss with him. I hope he doesn’t run away after hearing it."

"Haha, he already knows," Maya laughed loudly. "You should have seen how miserable he looked, holding his head and crying, saying he didn’t want to go and wanted to go home, hahaha, he almost rolled on the ground. But after crying, he agreed to go. After all, he also wants to try and see if he really can be immune to the Soul Assault there. If he can, entering the core is actually a safer place for him."

"I do find it strange," Pannis said. "Hadn’t he tried it before?"

"With his courage?" Maya stuck her tongue out. "He probably ran away scared just hearing the name of that place."

"Alright, that’s true," Pannis admitted with a wry smile. "It must be tough for him this time."

"He’ll be fine, don’t worry," Maya said enthusiastically. "Let’s hurry, we’re almost there."
