Chapter 527: Gate of the Past - Danacus’s Halls of the Dead (Two Chapters combined, 7000 words, only one update today)_1

(Due to various reasons, two Chapters are combined into one today, a big Chapter of 7,000 words published at 9:30 in the morning. Don’t wait for the evening update.)

One thousand Gold Rank knights, each fully clad in armor, suddenly appeared in the vast desert. Without needing anyone to command, they instinctively arranged themselves into a perfect spearhead formation. Nellie, wearing a full suit of silver armor, rested her lance on the stand beside her unicorn’s neck, quietly observing the undead that surged towards them like a tidal wave from all directions. Behind her, a thousand ghostly knights had nearly solidified into real beings, their brilliant golden aura shining like a golden beacon, illuminating the otherworld enveloped in perpetual darkness. Like their leader, each knight held a lance and wore a heavy sword at their sides, their eyes in the ethereal fog turning as cold and indifferent as Nellie’s.

"For life and justice, for honor and victory." Nellie raised her knight lance towards the sky. At her signal, the knights neatly lowered their visors, allowing all their bodies to be hidden under their heavy armor. Although they were ghost knights, each of them made a sound when they lowered their visors. While faint individually, the combined sound of a thousand visors gave off an overwhelming scent of iron and blood, making one feel indescribable desolation. Nellie patted her unicorn’s neck, pulled the reins slightly, and the unicorn reared on its hind legs. Clinging onto the unicorn’s back, she shouted, "My knights, charge with me."

Thus, the formation began to advance. The knights in the spearhead formation started together, their horses moving forward in small steps. The knights, along with their horses and heavy armor, were now estimated to weigh close to two tons. When such a heavy mass started to run, even at a trot, the coordinated landing of iron hooves was enough to make the ground tremble. Even though the sandy ground effectively reduced the hoof noise, the thunderous sound still caused the people around to feel a piercing pain in their eardrums.

With the knights clearing the path ahead, Dillie enlarged himself again, and everyone without the ability to fly jostled to get on Dillie’s back, following closely behind the knights.

"Maya." Kyle standing on Dillie’s back, could see past the knight formation and the situation ahead. When the slow-moving knights were about to encounter the Undead Tide, Kyle gave a loud command to the winged people who were circling around Dillie.

"Praise the light." The winged sisters who had cooperated for many years understood Kyle’s hint without requiring additional explanation. In mid-air, dark-winged Tiya held her sister’s legs from below, flapping her wings to keep them suspended. Light-winged Tiya spread her wings again, emitting dazzling light: "The light guides us on our way, saving us from the fear and despair brought by darkness."

Under Maya’s prayer, a pillar of light extended five hundred meters on each side of her, shooting forward from her wings. The speed of light surpassed anything worldly, and in the blink of an eye, it crossed the knight formation ahead and came into contact with the enemy. For undead creatures, the power of light was terrifyingly deadly. The incoming enemies melted silently, like snow under sunlight, without giving a sound. Whether they were lower rank or upper rank undead, or even legendary rank enemies, none of them had any power to resist and could only choose the only path - vanishing in the light.

Nellie, who led the charge, did not issue any command for battle preparation beforehand. When she took the command and chose to have the knight corps start their charge very close to the enemy, she believed in Kyle, who was giving orders from behind, that they would not be hindered in their charge. Indeed, Maya’s massive Path of Light cleared all obstacles for the knights’ charge, removing all interference as they slowly increased their charging speed, getting faster and faster.

The thunderous hoof noise grew louder and faster, and the two-kilometer length of the Path of Light provided enough distance for the knights’ charge to gather speed. When a thunderous hoof sound fully combined into one, and the spearhead formation’s assault speed had reached its limit, the two-kilometer distance came to an end. At their top speed, the knights, like a dart, plunged straight into the densely packed undead.

The biggest feature of the spearhead formation is its powerful assault capability. As long as the general leading the formation is strong enough, they can pierce into any solid defense. Once inside, the knights on the flanks will withstand the pressure from the sides, ruthlessly tearing apart the enemy lines from within. Like the spearhead, Nellie led from the front, riding her unicorn, her body bent low, and firmly gripping her lance. Wrapped in a powerful aura, the majestic unicorn transformed into a silver streak, effortlessly tearing through the enemy lines. None of the undead standing in her way could slow her down; as soon as they came in contact with her lance or aura, they would disintegrate into a cloud of dust. Even the few powerful undead who could take a punch, after being struck, were thrown away like meteors, landing in the dense undead tide from where it was impossible to attack again.
