Chapter 430: Chapter 56: Elf Queen_1
"Dear, what are you thinking?" Indulgence lay on the grass, his arms pillow positioned behind his head and feet propped in the air, gazing up at the moon in the sky. He asked Passion, "Is it really a good idea to go on like this?"
The night had deepened, and the raucous opening night of the Horse Herding Festival had passed in a frenzy of dance. The former revelry site was now a mess, with only the sporadic glow of dying embers recalling the atmosphere of the past. For some inexplicable reason, or perhaps due to intoxication, as a young and vivacious beast girl tried to seduce Pannis, Catherine inexplicably became upset. She grabbed Pannis and threw him into the bustling crowd. Alongside Lina and Vivian, the girls cast aside all formalities and posture, only singing and dancing with abandon, letting the whole night be filled with cheerful song and dance and the rich aroma of alcohol. By the time the three girls had exhausted all their energy, even lacking the strength to move and falling asleep directly on Pannis, the triple moon had already crossed midnight and the people around were gradually dispersing.
With great effort, the deeply sleeping girls were carried back into the tent, and a night watch order was finally established. After all, although this place could be considered relatively safe, everyone had long grown accustomed to being extremely cautious in their daily lives. No one felt comfortable staying here without any defenses, so the night watch was arranged as if in the wild. The first to take up guard duties were Indulgence and Passion. The pair wouldn’t be lonely keeping watch together, and under the moonlight, they could enjoy the night breeze carrying the scent of fresh grass and earth, a truly unique experience.
"I don’t know." Passion stood by the fence beside the tent. Her dagger spun and twirled between her fingers as if it were a part of her hand. "I can’t figure out what to do right now."
"Have you ever speculated about who he really is?" Indulgence asked in a whisper, "Because he’s always so mysterious."
"I have never speculated, and there is no point in doing so." Passion’s voice was cold and clear, "I can’t deny it, I did feel attracted to him when we interacted in the past, but so what? You know my issue best, do you think there’s a possibility between him and me?"
Indulgence chuckled softly under his breath and, shaking his head, didn’t speak.
"You see, you also know, it’s impossible between him and me. So, it’s best to feign ignorance. Whoever he claims to be, I’ll consider him so," Passion spoke, a rare smile on her face filled with deep melancholy. "Whether he’s Silver Rank or Legendary, what does it matter if he’s a demigod? As long as we can be friends, ordinary friends, that would be good enough."
"However, the guild leader doesn’t seem to think you just want to be ordinary friends with him." Indulgence appeared next to Passion in an instant with a press to the ground, placed an arm around Passion’s slender waist and said, "You’ve noticed, haven’t you? The guild leader should know him, and lately, everything related to him has been handed over to the two of us to handle. This is to get into his good graces, isn’t it?"
"So, you think he is a demigod too?" Passion asked, "I don’t believe so. Even if he only is a Silver Rank, he could be acquainted with the guild leader."
"Of course, I am not saying that just because of this." Indulgence whispered, "Today, those two little girls in the black and white dresses, I just happened to have seen them interact with the guild leader in their undisguised form before. You’ll absolutely never guess who they really are."
"Huh?" Passion seemed interested and asked further, "Who are they? It seems like you are implying they are demigods too, but I don’t remember any..."
"Shush." Indulgence suddenly cut off Passion, pulling her up into a low tree not far away. Standing at the top of the tree, he pointed at the distance and said, "Look, I have been expecting that they would come and meet Pannis, and here they are."
Passion frowned looking at the distance and said, "I remember him not leaving the tent after returning, even if he could sneak out and become invisible, he couldn’t possibly run out of the tent with the curtains closed, without us noticing, right?"
"You speak as if you don’t know about the existence of the Inherent Psychic Domain." Because of the distance, even with all the focus in the world, Indulgence could only see a vague image. He suggested anxiously, "How about we get a little closer to eavesdrop? We might be able to hear what they’re talking about."
"If your guess is correct, you’ll get swatted to death as soon as you get there. If your guess is wrong, there’s still no use in going." Passion sighed, and spoke ruefully, "You’d better just watch from here. Take this potion, I was planning on saving it for scouting. It will let you see a little further."
"Thank you." Indulgence immediately drank the potion and looked off into the distance, indeed, he could see much more clearly.

Under the cover of night, on a field six or seven kilometers away from the rented residential area, Pannis stood quietly in place, clothed in starlight, his hands clasped behind him. His black coat danced lightly in the night wind, just like his disheveled golden hair.
The light in the sky seemed to shift slightly, and the wind changed direction following the sudden appearance of wing vibrations. Looking up, a pair of luminescent wings, one black and one white, fluttered in the night sky. Two winged girls with blue hair descended from the sky, landing on either side of Pannis. Habitually, they held Pannis’s outstretched hand, like they did a hundred years ago. At some point, a lion the size of a domestic dog had already lain down at Pannis’s feet, huffing in boredom, its eyes half-closed as if it were sleeping.
"Brother Kyle, good evening." The white-winged Maya raised her head, her face adorned with a pure smile, excitedly saying, "It’s so great, we get to meet again."
"So many years have passed, and this is the first time you’ve asked to see us," Tiya, the Darkwing, grumbled a bit unhappily while gently holding onto Pannis’ hand. "Sister Nellie left, Kera stays in the City of Knowledge and won’t come out, and you refuse to see us, we’ve been really bored all these years."
"I’m sorry." Pannis fondled the tops of the winged sisters’ heads. After more than a hundred years, the two sisters had grown a lot taller, already the size of a human girl of twelve or thirteen. Pannis gently touched the two sisters’ soft blue hair and whispered, "Maybe in future, the chances to meet will gradually increase. Yes, they should."
"Great." "Brother Kyle, you definitely have to play with us more in the future." "Oh, and that thing you asked us to do is done." "We have found three already, the other one should be with the Sea Race." "But because we haven’t found them all, we left them at home." "Brother Kyle, what do you need these things for?"
"You two," Pannis gave a bitter smile, bending down to pinch the faces of the two sisters and said begrudgingly, "you really need to get rid of this habit of talking so fast. Slow down, how can anyone follow what you’re saying when you’re speaking that fast?"
"Really now." "We talk very slowly." "Brother Kyle can’t understand because you’re too dumb." "Yes, yes, just like Kera and the lion."
"Hey, you two dummies." The disguised scorpion-tailed lion, Dillie, shook his head weakly and said lazily, "Don’t provoke me, or I’ll eat you."
"At least two bites, right?" "Exactly, you can’t even count, and you say you’re not dumb." "We’re ignoring you now." "Brother Kyle, tell us quickly." "Yeah, yeah, why all of a sudden are you looking for these things?" "Speaking of which, to find them, we even went to the Whispering Swamp." "It stinks so badly there." "We also had a fight with Jack."
"Well, in a way, you two are really amazing." Pannis massaged his forehead in pain and gave a wry smile. "So, have you found three already?"
"Correct, three." "One in the Whispering Swamp, one in the Magical Beast Forest." "And you’ll never guess where the last one is."
"Isn’t it with you two?" said Pannis. "Christo already told me."
"Damn Kera." "We will definitely beat him up." "How dare he steal our fun." "Brother Kyle, tell him to watch out, hmph, we won’t let him off."
"Alright, alright." Pannis nodded laboriously, "I’ll relay the message, let’s just hope he doesn’t get too upset."
"Oh, she’s here." "Oh right, Brother Kyle, we told you before, right, that Sister Flare will also be coming tonight." "Yes, yes, we should have mentioned it."
"I swear on my honor," Pannis rolled his eyes, "you two have never said a word."
"Really?" "Hahahaha, we must have forgotten." "Exactly, we just forgot."
"Alright, alright, stop feigning ignorance." Pannis patted the two sisters’ heads: "When I arranged to meet you tonight, I already anticipated that I couldn’t avoid this meeting."
Not far away, a tall, slender elf stepped forth in the darkness, trailing an aroma of blossoming flowers. The elf had pointy ears, her long green hair hanging loose on her shoulders. Instead of the gray cloak she wore during the day, she had donned a magnificent long dress meant for ceremonies. The green dress was adorned with silver patterns, shimmering under the moonlight. A crown of eternal blooming flowers sat on her head, symbolizing her supreme status. As she moved gracefully forward, wildflowers sprung up and blossomed around her feet, as though pooling their very life force to welcome her arrival. The elf looked majestic and noble against the moonlight, akin to a daffodil blooming under the moon. For the first time in a hundred years, the owner of the Lost Forest, the ruler of the Elven Royal Court, the supreme leader of the elves, the Elf Queen Flare, representing the honor of all the elves, appeared before the eyes of people outside the forest.
Looking at Flare, who was slowly approaching, and at her face that remained unchanged, Pannis sighed deeply as if he was thinking of the laughter and tears in the days of old.
"We finally meet again." Flare’s voice was as soft and warm as ever, devoid of any worldly air. "Kyle, my... friend."
For a moment, Pannis felt as if he had reverted to the confident and perfect Kyle who always strove for perfection. As was his habit, he placed a hand on his chest and bowed, "Yes, after many years, we finally meet again, Your Majesty." (To be continued. If you like this work, please vote for it on qidian.com.
