"I’ve never heard of such ruins before." After Passion and Indulgence left, Vivian stared at Pannis and asked, "Almost no complete relics from the First Epoch have been preserved. Scholars can only guess the shadow of the First Epoch from various legends. If you have found the relics of the First Epoch, it should cause a worldwide sensation."

"There are always some exceptions." Pannis sneered, somewhat reluctantly saying, "That time we not only found the relics of the First Epoch, but also the dead from the First Epoch."

"Deities? That’s not possible." Vivian jumped up from the chair, disregarding the chair she knocked over, she rushed over and grabbed Pannis’s collar, screaming, "Is it true? Where are the ruins? I want to go now."

"You will never see those ruins." Pannis let out a deep sigh, patted Vivian’s hand gripping his clothes, "Those ruins will never appear before the eyes of the world again. Well, at least I hope so."

"What happened?" Catherine held the emotionally excited Vivian, pressing her back to her chair, "Why is it not visible anymore?"

"The ruins have disappeared in the distortion of space and can never be retrieved." Pannis’s voice was trembling, no, his whole body was trembling, his fists clenched tight, his veins bulging on his skin, "Nobody can find it, absolutely no one can, the secrets of space and time are inscrutable, even to gods, let alone mortals."

"Swallowed by alternate space?" The brightness in Vivian’s eyes dimmed, she collapsed weakly in the chair, "Why did this happen?"

"Yes, it’s slumbering in alternate space." Pannis sighed again, poured himself a cup of already cold tea and gulped it down, "So, there’s no need for you to keep hoping."

Vivian hung her head weakly, and when she lifted it up again, the naïve face was covered with tears and disappointment, "Money, time, life, everything. I would prefer to exchange all of it for a chance to go there, even if it’s only for a minute."

"Even a minute isn’t worth it." Pannis shook his head, "No one knows where the ruins are now, and no one can take you there, even if you sacrifice everything, it won’t help."

"That’s too cruel, Pannis." Catherine, hugging Vivian, said, "Although I can’t understand her excitement, you’ve given her hope, and then you’ve crushed it. That’s too much."

"I can’t help it, that’s the way it is." Pannis shrugged his shoulders, "And you underestimate the resilience of an avid researcher. Take a look at her."

Catherine looked down and saw that Vivian was already taking out her notebook while wiping her tears, and glared fiercely at Pannis, "Tell me about the Deities and the condition of the ruins."

"Hey, Vivian, how come you changed so quickly?" Catherine asked with mixed laughter and tears, "You were on the verge of collapsing just now, how did you suddenly become like this?"

"In the face of new knowledge, who has time to regret and lament those opportunities that are already lost? Of course, I must first seize the knowledge at hand." Vivian firmly replied, "Quick, quick, quick, tell me everything about the appearance, characteristics, structure, and all the other properties you discovered about the Deities."

"See, the boring desire for knowledge." Pannis made an innocent expression, "The Deities are structurally very similar to present-day humans, but due to their divinity, they have long lives and great strength. Although we don’t know the condition of the strong ones among the Deities when they were alive, even after they die, their skeletons still bear a pressure that can compete with the Demigod."

"The ordinary Deities are so powerful?" Catherine asked in surprise, "That’s too exaggerated."

"We don’t know, maybe the few skeletons we saw just happened to be the strong ones among the Deities." Pannis rolled his eyes in response, "I didn’t live in the First Epoch, how could I give you an answer? But I think there should be a distinction between the weak and the strong among the Deities, think about the Song of Yarra, the strongest among the Deities is an existence that can slay gods and seize theocracy."

"Even the body retains such great power?" Vivian recorded quickly, without raising her head, she asked, "What other features? You said they are quite similar to humans, so there must be differences, right?"

"Because I only saw the bones, so I can’t tell you what a normal deity looks like." Pannis said, "But from the bones, there is one big difference with humans."

"Yes, I’m writing it down." Vivian nodded her head, "What’s the difference?"

"Here." Pannis pointed to his own forehead, "On their skulls, there is an additional eye socket here."

"Snap." The pen in her hand dropped to the ground, Vivian widened her eyes and exclaimed, "No wonder. So that’s how it is."

"What’s so strange?" Catherine picked up Vivian’s pen and put it back into her hand. "What did you remember again?"

"In some ancient sculptures or cave paintings, many humanoid figures have the presence of The Third Eye. Scholars can’t figure out the reason, and as a result, a bunch of uneducated folks jumped out with wild guesses, asserting that it represented status, authority, or power." Vivian revealed a satisfied smile, excitedly saying, "The truth is so simple; it’s just because they indeed have three eyes. Anything else, Pannis?"

"We didn’t have much time. It was practically impossible for us to take a thorough look while we were in that temple-like ruin," Pannis explained. "We only discovered some peculiar writing and the remains of a few strong ones. Other than that, we had to escape before we could find out anything more."

"It’s a shame." Vivian sighed regretfully but soon cheered up again. "However, these unexpected gains are not bad at all. Thank you, Pannis, you’re my lucky star."

"Actually, knowing these has little meaning." Pannis stated, "Without any supporting evidence, your theories are untenable and won’t be accepted by other scholars."

"I don’t care. I don’t need acceptance from academia," Vivian said nonchalantly. "As long as I know the truth, it doesn’t matter if others accept it or not. It doesn’t change the essence of knowledge. Who cares about what others think? Anyway, I got too excited just now, and I suddenly feel so tired. I think I’ll go back to rest."

"You really know how to let go," Pannis muttered as he watched Vivian wobble through the side door into their villa. "She is crazy."

"You were lying, weren’t you?" Catherine suddenly said, "Vivian was too excited just now to realize, but I did. You lied about some things. The place isn’t completely inaccessible, as you claimed, you just don’t want people to go in. Or, to put it differently, it can be inferred from your words that your team decided against letting anyone in and chose to hide this secret, right?"

"You are smart, but let’s just leave it at that," Pannis said, looking deeply at Catherine. "Forget about this secret, and stop thinking about that ruin. It’s not bad for you, for me, or even for the world as a whole. Trust me; If you insist on digging into this secret, it will bring nothing but catastrophe in all aspects. Numerous people have already died because of this, and I don’t want to see more names on the death list."

"Okay, I got it, so I didn’t say anything when Vivian was around," Catherine said with a faint smile, "Don’t worry, she won’t find out about our conversation. I know how to keep a secret."

"Thank you." Pannis breathed a sigh of relief and covered his face as he laid back down on the recliner. "We’ll have another assignment soon. I should take advantage of our fleeting downtime."

"Hey, stop being lazy." Catherine kicked the recliner’s support frame with exasperation and yanked the blanket off Pannis. "Get up. You need to accompany me to get groceries. You mentioned yesterday that we would have no food to eat tonight if we didn’t go shopping. Get up, get up."

"No!" Pannis firmly hugged the blanket and struggled to protest, "You really lack romance. The weather is so good, and the afternoon is so peaceful. It’s the perfect time to sleep. And yet, you’re asking me to go shopping. Have you no humanity?"

"We only have humanity when we are not starving," Catherine continued to yank at the blanket, laughing, "We’re running out of food, so we’ll have to regretfully pause our humanity. Hurry up, or I’ll throw water at you."

"Absolutely not. If the blanket gets wet, you’ll have to clean it." Pannis clung to the blanket, being dragged off the recliner and onto the ground by Catherine. He still maintained his lying position, sliding on the ground as he was dragged, "Help! Kidnapping! A knight is kidnapping me!"

"You two are really messing around." While the two were making a scene, Lina’s helpless voice came from around the corner, "What did I miss? Or is this a new game?"

"Oh, you’re back." Catherine let go of the blanket she was holding, quickly straightened her clothes, and put on her usual serious face, "I was persuading him to accompany me to get groceries."

"Don’t pretend to be serious." Lina walked over and poked Catherine’s waist, making her laugh and duck out of the way, "Earlier, I think I saw Passion and Indulgence of the Shadow Hand on the street. What are they doing here?"

"They came to commission us." Catherine didn’t even consider the still-rolling Pannis on the ground, "After the New Year, we might have to take a trip to the City of Innocence."

Upon hearing this name, Lina grimaced in distaste but did not object, "As long as we can delay it until after the New Year, otherwise, today’s trip would have been in vain."

"Yeah, where did you go?" Catherine asked curiously, "You’ve been missing since morning."

"Look!" Lina waved several pieces of paper in front of Catherine’s face, "Tickets for the New Year’s celebration performance, and not just any tickets – front row seats. Originally, they were to be given to representatives from various churches. Hehe, I managed to snatch four from another church."

"You’re something else." Catherine shook her head with resignation, "But it’s good, we can all go watch the performance together."
