"Haha, Hello Uncle Pannis!" Two twins, who appeared to be around twelve or thirteen years old, stood grinning outside the door, energetically greeting Pannis. The girls were bundled up in pale red coats, wrapped with white scarves, wearing thick black velvet trousers on their legs, and light brown deer-skin boots on their feet. They had identical faces, identical clothes, only their hair was different. Both girls sporting a head of long blonde hair that cascaded down their backs. The only difference was a lock of hair on top of their heads, tied into a little braid with a hairband—one girl’s braid was on the left and the other’s on the right. You could only tell these two identical girls apart via the position of their braids.

"My little sisters." A self-acknowledged kind and benign smile spread across Pannis’ face, "Long time no see, I’ve missed you. Come give your big brother a hug."

"Hahaha, get away big uncle!" One of the girls saw Pannis walking towards her with his arms wide open. She let out a delightful laugh and darted away from Pannis’ open arms, whereas the other girl allowed Pannis to put his arms around her shoulders, giggling cheerfully.

"Ouch!" Pannis suddenly shrieked earth-shatteringly loud while jumping up and down on the spot clutching his hands, "Ouch, ouch, what is this?!"

"Hehe, it’s the self-defense gear that sister Lina gave me." The girl cheekily pulled a shoulder pad with many short spikes from underneath her coat and waved it triumphantly in front of Pannis, "Sis said it’s specifically for defense against oddball uncles, seems like it works great!"

"Oh no, Ansha, you shouldn’t do this. You were such a shy girl when we first met, how did Lina groom you into this?"

"Hehe, people always change according to their environment." The girl addressed as Ansha took off the other shoulder pad and carefully put it back into the box, she continued, "Also, I’m actually Michelle, not Ansha, Hahahahaha, you totally fell for it, uncle."

"Michelle?" Pannis, astounded, pointed at the girl and exclaimed, "Isn’t the one with the braid on the left Ansha?"

"Hehe, we swapped sides today." Michelle playfully shook her braid, "Seems like apart from Sister Lina, no one can figure it out."

"Alright, alright." Pannis dropped his head in defeat, "I should have been on guard, knowing you are Michelle."

"That’s why we swapped." Michelle laughed, "Sister Lina said, Uncle Pannis intermittently gets ill, we should always be prepared."

"That bitch Lina." Pannis shook his fist in the air, grumbling, "One day, I will take my revenge."

"But Sister Lina isn’t wrong, Uncle, you did get sick again." The other half of the twin; Ansha, hiding behind her sister, peaked out half her face and whispered, "We saw from the door just now, you were being chased by Sister Catherine with a sword again. Sister Lina says that’s proof of you being ill again. You need treatment."

"I don’t need a treatment!" Pannis shouted, "I’m not sick, what happened just now was an accident, yes, yes, an accident. Trust me."

"So what did you do?" Michelle leaned in closer to Pannis and whispered, "That led to this accident?"

"Look at Catherine, she’s always serious and dedicated to her work, it’s really entertaining, right?" Pannis, hands akimbo, declared arrogantly, "I simply can’t restrain myself from disturbing her and making her laugh every time I see that expression. Just to see her mood change so quickly. It’s a preference any normal man would have. It’s not being sick."

"Um, Uncle Pannis." Michelle stared blankly at Pannis’s self-satisfied face, "A few days ago, Sister Lina taught us always to cherish our life because we only live once."

"Hmm, she’s not wrong about that." Pannis folded his arms, solemnly nodding in approval, "Indeed, you should keep that in mind."

"Sigh." Michelle let out a sigh, looked at Pannis’ face, then sighed again, and in a patronizing way patted Pannis’ arm, lamenting, "Since she was not wrong, Sigh, Whatever, Uncle, take care."

Afterwards, while shaking her head in regret, Michelle walked past Pannis, heading towards the mansion. Ansha, who had been following her sister, also passed Pannis and gave him a sympathetic and pitiful glance, whispering, "Uncle, at all cost, you must keep living."

"I feel like... I have a bad feeling." Paralyzed in place, Pannis swallowed his spit and wiped the sweat off his forehead, "I feel like someone is standing behind me, glaring at me, haha, haha, this must be an illusion, yes, it’s just an illusion."

With a swift "Whoosh," Pannis ducked and dodged the sword slicing toward him from behind. He began running as fast as his legs would carry him while screaming, "Don’t chase me! It’s all a misunderstanding, a real misunderstanding! Look, it’s a beautiful day. We should have tea and chat. It’s best to clarify the misunderstanding peacefully. Please, no violence!"

"Poor uncle." With a hop and a skip, Michelle led her little sister towards the foyer of the mansion. She’s so used to seeing Pannis running past her, being chased by Sister Catherine with her sword in hand, that she didn’t even look sympathetic. Instead, she loudly called out, "Sister Catherine, I want to play with Annie."

"Annie is playing in the basement." Catherine swung her longsword as she pursued and replied, "You go inside to warm up first. After I’m done dealing with him, I’ll call Annie up for you."

"You could call her now." Pannis wailed as he fled, "I wouldn’t mind."

"Sorry, but I do mind, you jerk! Think you can tease me and cause trouble? Think you can have normal human preferences?" After Catherine’s sword-swinging pursuit ended, she stopped in irritation. She pointed at Pannis and ordered: "Your punishment is to clear all the snow in the courtyard. You’re not allowed inside until you’re done."

"No, don’t!" Pannis cried out in despair. "This is too cruel, Catherine, you can’t treat me like this."

"Protest dismissed." Catherine shot a glare at Pannis and turned to walk into the foyer. "This is the most merciful judgement."

Despite the winter chill outside, the room was warm and cozy thanks to the roaring fireplace. The minute you step inside, you feel incredibly relaxed. In the living room, the two girls, Michelle and Ansha, had already shed their coats. They curled up casually on the plush rocking chairs by the fireplace, their eyes half-closed like two cats, basking happily in the warmth. The only relative of the two girls died on an adventure just before Lina met them. Lina had accepted a father’s last request and had been taking care of the poor children for several years. Without any plans for short-term adventures, Lina often brought the two of them home for meals and play after she returned from the Shining Forest. They became familiar with all the mansion’s occupants and considered the mansion their second home.

"It’s quite late, why did Lina let you two come here by yourselves?" As Catherine handed over small-sized house slippers for the girls to change into, she couldn’t help but grumble. "Lina really, she mustn’t neglect your safety. After all, you two are quite famous in the Holy City. How could she let you wander the streets alone? It could be troublesome if you ran into those crazy fans. Just as you were entering, I noticed quite a few people sneakily tailing you."

"Haha, we know those two big dummies. They call themselves our personal guards with a group of small dummies." Michelle dramatically explained, "They often sneakily follow us around, we’ve gotten used to it. But Lina told us, although they may be a bit dumb, they’re not bad people. They just follow us around to protect us, in case we run into any danger. So it’s all good."

"Actually, Lina escorted us to the street corner." Upon finding herself in a familiar environment, Ansha regained her energy and was no longer timid. "She’ll be back soon."

Just as she said this, the living room door was pushed open. However, it wasn’t Lina who entered, but Vivian. As soon as she entered, Vivian asked puzzled, "Did I miss anything? Why do I see Pannis outside, looking so desperate while sweeping? What did he do to upset you, big sister?"

"Nothing much." Catherine sighed with a headache, "Just everyday routine."

"I see." Vivian nodded in understanding, threw her coat aside, pinched the hair of the two sisters, and then curled up comfortably in the armchair with a satisfied moan.

"Big news." The living room door was kicked open once again. Lina came rushing in, holding a newspaper, "Huge news!"

"Where on earth have you been?" Catherine admonished, "Why didn’t you come back with them?"

"I took a detour to deliver some things for a church member." Lina explained, "Don’t worry, they’re fine. Enough about that, look at the newspaper, sis. It’s a huge scoop."

Catherine took the newspaper but didn’t look at it right away. Instead, she went to the window and pulled open the thick curtain. As soon as the curtain was drawn back, she saw Pannis outside the French window, looking pitifully inside the house. With a painful grind of her teeth, Catherine opened the window and called out, "Get in now."

"Whew, I’m freezing." No sooner had Pannis come into the room than he started dramatically rubbing his hands together. "That was a close one, I thought I would freeze to death. I’m alive."

"You’re quite the actor." Catherine sneered, ignoring the eccentric Pannis, and lowered her head to find the big news in the paper that Lina had mentioned. "Huh, a New Year’s auction? And the Heart of Years is the piece de resistance? Good heavens, the starting bid is half a million. Following the usual trend, the final price might reach six to seven million. Have the auction house people lost their minds? Auctioning a useless gemstone for such a high price?"

"Wake up, sis. The news isn’t about the auction. Stop getting distracted by money," Lina giggled at Catherine’s reaction. "It’s on there, on the backside."

"The beloved daughter of Lord Odin is getting married?" Catherine was taken aback, "We haven’t heard anything about her for two years, and now she’s finally going to get married?"

"Yes." Lina nodded, "She’s finally getting married."
