Chapter 1251: Chapter 37: What are we planning to eat tonight?

"From this table, we can see that the production scrap rate of the Deep Sleep Potion is the highest, reaching 4.4 percent, followed by the Meditation Potion at 3.2 percent, and the Vitality Recovery Potion is the lowest at only 1.5 percent. The production scrap rate for all three potions is below the current lowest production scrap rate of five percent." Vivian stood at the podium, bathed in light, her petite and slender body nonetheless radiating an imposing aura that made her seem much larger in the eyes of the surrounding scholars and mages. The girl’s eyes brimmed with confidence, her voice resonating with forceful certainty, compelling involuntary belief.

During the public defense, the girl seemed prepared for every question posed by attendees, and could whip out several charts or figures in response to any inquiry, using the data as evidence, striking right at the heart of the issue and leaving the questioners speechless, eventually forcing them to emit self-mocking bitter laughs. Just like now, the girl turned around on the round podium, facing the direction of the questioner, tossing aside the used crystal projection disc and using a vivid Flame Element to draw a burning table in the air, she loudly responded, "If you consider production efficiency, then although it is impossible to disclose the production process, the efficiency is certainly no lower than the original potion production techniques, based on the results listed. If you are considering production costs, then I can happily state that the existing alchemical ingredients that can be disclosed are entirely lower in cost than the original three potions’ ingredients, and even taking into account the few special ingredients that cannot be disclosed, the price increase would only be between three to fifty percent on the basis of the original three potions’ prices, and that is after adding in a satisfactory profit margin for the producer, so such a production scrap rate is completely within an acceptable range."

The questioner was stunned, offered a slight bow to the girl on stage, and returned to his seat, resigned. Once that person had asked his question, the girl on the podium was as if transformed, the defense proceeding with enthusiasm. However, this was equally daunting for the questioners. If previously the girl seemed numb and indifferent like an Undead, leaving the questioners feeling unable to voice their queries, now her passionate performance made them even more hesitant to ask, because no matter how bizarre the questions, the girl would effortlessly draw plentiful data from some corner of the report visible to everyone, making the query seem embarrassingly simple, leaving the one asking it feeling like a fool under the strange yet sympathetic gazes from around, gazes whose consolation ironically made oneself feel even dumber.

"Miss Vivian," the crystal lamp for requesting to speak lit up, and another scholar stood up. The question echoed from the amplification Array, "If I remember correctly, the lowest production scrap rate among the current three mana potions is nine percent, not five."

"I was referring to my personal operational data, not the average data of others," Vivian replied without a second’s hesitation, her answer sounding like a simple statement but carrying more weight than a boast, causing those experts specialized in potion study to blush, "Since the newly developed potions were made entirely by me, I used my personal production scrap rate, so naturally, for the control group, I used my personal data as well, which doesn’t violate any experimental rules."

Once more, the hall fell silent. The evaluative report the girl had submitted was indeed very thorough, leaving attendees hard-pressed to raise further doubts or questions, yet there were always those unwilling to concede and eager to learn more, and so...

"Miss Vivian," this time, the crystal lamp for requesting to speak surprisingly didn’t light up, and the voice already sounded in the hall, "What do you plan to eat tonight to celebrate your success? How about some fried knife-back fish?"

The hall stirred again, many looking around in hopes of identifying the one who dared to cause such a disturbance at a Supreme Council meeting, but frustratingly, the questioner’s voice seemed to float unpredictably, now from the left, now the right, making it impossible to pinpoint the source, with even a few feeling the voice had come from right beside them despite there being no one nearby, only to wave their hands innocently, facing others’ scrutinizing and suspicious looks.

However, Vivian was clearly not among them. Her lips twitched, and without searching she pointed a finger, a massive Fireball launched from her hand, its scorching heat streaking across the hall’s ceiling and directly hitting a side door of the large meeting hall.

Fire and shrapnel spread as the explosive force blew the door off its hinges. A piteous scream came simultaneously with the door’s destruction, sounding from outside the hall and trailing off into the distance—the person hiding behind the door had clearly been blasted away by the explosion, and thus, the world finally quieted down.

"Cough, cough, it was just an accident," the girl’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment, yet she forcibly acted as if she had heard nothing and as if the attack had not come from her, clearing her throat, "I’ll take responsibility for the damage to the side door after the meeting."

"Cough, well, that’s good," the moderator, clearly unprepared for this, went through an awkward moment and then simply played along with the Mage girl as if nothing had happened, "Since there are no more questions, let’s move on to the next phase. I invite the members of the council to exercise their duties and rights, and start the evaluation and questioning."

"In fact, when Miss Vivian submitted her samples for evaluative testing, we already asked many probing questions regarding her experimental results," the light at the first evaluator’s seat illuminated, "I must admit, Miss Vivian’s preparations were very thorough. Normally, we would also have preliminary inquiries during the finished product evaluation. However, even so, I’m unable to find any new issue to question here, and I waive my right to do so."

"Personally, I believe this will soon be a moment recorded in the Yarran World Chronicles," the fourth evaluator, clearly not an ordinary scholar or lab Mage but one leaning towards combat, was notably excited about the appearance of the three potions, "After being stagnant for over two hundred and fifty years, we are witnessing a new development in spellcasting support potions. Miss Vivian’s name will surely echo across the entire world, and we are the witnesses..."

"Cough, cough, evaluator number four, please be cautious with your words," the moderator interrupted, "Do not make leading statements that could influence the judgment of the other evaluators."

"Sorry, I was carried away," evaluator number four sighed and regained his composure, "I too waived my right to raise any objections."

"How about the others? It seems that everyone has already waived the right to question," the moderator paused for a while, ensuring no one else wanted to speak, before saying, "Well, pertaining to the three potions submitted by Miss Vivian, I ask the seven evaluators to make their judgment on feasibility and scalability. Now, let the evaluation begin."
