Chapter 1213: Door to the Past - Danacus’s Hideout (Two-in-One)_2
Unlike her sister, Tiya of the darkwing Winged people was not enveloped in light. The girl who worshiped darkness seemed to have become endless darkness herself. Although she was in the presence of light, she could not be enveloped by it, and all that was visible was profound pitch-blackness. The dark, like a monster capable of devouring everything, swallowed everything in its path, and even omnipresent light, when it aimed towards the darkness, was devoured. The girl in the dark did nothing but flap her wings and float midair, shrouded in dark and drifting, yet it was precisely she who did nothing that caused extreme annoyance to the moribund. Whenever the moribund opened the eyes on their foreheads, intending to use the remnants of light within them to unleash the Destructive Light Technique, a quiet dark would appear before them. Light was everywhere, but only pure darkness could suppress it. Tiya was pure dark, and even the most powerful Light Techniques could not penetrate the darkness that enveloped her, so with just her casual floating, she had already weakened the moribund’s strong defense.
At the very end of the group, Kyle and the battle Dragon, Lady Mina, stood side by side. For the first time, Guardian Mina removed the helmet on her head, revealing the face that had been hidden in the shadows. The battle Dragon, having lived tens of thousands of years, was considered young among the Guardians’ breed and therefore appeared as a woman in her twenties when in human form. Lady Mina’s appearance in human form was distinct; her long golden hair draped behind her seemed tangible yet had an energized quality, each strand emanating golden radiance. On either side of her forehead, she had two turned-up horns, small and solid, growing like delicate ornaments, their blackness also glowing with a golden luster. The lady’s appearance, the same in her dragon form, was brimming with the allure of strength and beauty, her golden pupils not only brimming with surging energy but also a wild radiance.
Lady Mina had intended to join the battle, but Kyle stopped her. After fighting alongside her for some time, this noble Guardian had fully recognized Kyle’s abilities and had handed over her command to him, willingly obeying his orders like the other Demigods, confident that he would lead everyone to victory. Therefore, when Kyle stopped her from joining the fight, although Lady Mina did not understand, she still complied without hesitation, not even asking any questions.
Of course, while she could refrain from questioning, as a perfect incarnation, Kyle could not remain silent. For some people, Kyle could refrain from explaining because they had fought together multiple times, developing sufficient tacit understanding and trust. Even without explanation, they could quickly understand and would not overthink. However, for others like Klarke and Lady Mina, who were not as familiar, although they trusted him, he could not afford to use this trust to maintain mystery. Whenever there was a chance, he needed to subtly clarify his objectives, so as not to arouse the resentment of equally strong teammates.
Thus, after Lady Mina had stepped back from the battle preparations, Kyle stood beside her and subtly pointed towards a distant altar. It was a medium-sized altar, about seven to eight meters in diameter, with an ancient style that seemed to have withstood the test of time, yet its exterior appeared as new. In the center of the altar, there floated a black mass of gas, churning over the altar but not escaping its bounds. From afar, this cluster of black gas resembled a gate formed by mist, its other side leading to unknown realms.
"This here is probably the deepest part of the Hall of Death in Danacus, also the control center Between the Rituals," Kyle observed the battle from afar and whispered to Dragon Lady Mina, "Since this place is so crucial, the altar and that cloud of smoke really concern me. What do you think about these two elements, Lady Mina?"
"For tens of thousands of years, I have witnessed the fall of many Deities and the collapse of Divine Kingdoms, so I do know a bit about the secrets of Deities," Dragon Mina also whispered back, "Indeed, this should be the control center of the Hall of Death, that altar is a site where a sect’s Archbishop communicates with Deities to control the temple. These three men must be Danacus’s Archbishops, but I am unsure if there are other Archbishops. However, that cloud of mist is something I’m seeing for the first time, and I do not know its identity or function. Maybe some elders from my tribe who experienced the God Slaying Era might have heard of it, but I’m sorry, I..."
"No, I guess even those elders probably haven’t heard of it," Kyle tactfully interrupted Mina’s slight self-blame and skillfully engaged her curiosity to make her forget continuing her apology, "When I first came here, I was also puzzled by that cloud of smoke, but a few minutes ago, I suddenly had a guess. I’m wondering if it could be related to the Soul of Danacus itself?"
