Chapter 1098: Chapter 211 Chaotic Fragments Group

"Hey, be very careful." After having everyone, including Little Deer, drink the Fila Potion, Pannis prepared to conduct a test, and Catherine, feeling uneasy, cautioned, "Try it and come straight back, don’t do experiments that are too risky."

"Don’t worry, I won’t do anything strange," Pannis reassured her with a laugh, "And no matter whether the experiment is a success or not, I won’t be in any danger, have you forgotten my unique trait?"

"This is an exception." Catherine forcibly grabbed Pannis who was ready to turn around and leave, and said earnestly, "Even if you have the reversed Death Curse as protection, these Twisted Souls won’t let you die, they will twist and assimilate you. The Death Curse might not work, so don’t get complacent just because you think you can’t die."

"No no no, from any perspective, the Death Curse will definitely work." Pannis patted Catherine on the shoulder and whispered in the knight girl’s ear, "So you don’t need to be nervous, I’ll be back soon, there won’t be any problems."

"Idiot, you’re just setting yourself up for certain death." The scorpion-tailed lion Dillie glanced at Pannis with an expression indicating he was already doomed, and mocked, "The last guy who bragged like you is now buried so deep, the grass on his grave could thatch a hut. Are you looking for more trouble, wanting to die even quicker, tsk tsk, I think I can already see the hope, guess in a little while everyone will happily leave this Forbidden Land of Living Souls."

"Alright, I got it, you transportation beast." Pannis patted the massive head of the scorpion-tailed lion, and despite Dillie’s old age, his muscles felt still strong and powerful. Pannis casually tugged at the little lion’s mane and quickly dodged the scorpion-tailed lion’s angry tail swipe, laughing lightly, "I know you worry about my safety, old friend, but I won’t give you the chance to turn around and leave."

"Jackass, idiot, fool, I don’t care if you die, who would worry about your safety?" Dillie’s roar shook the entire wandering forest. If there were any other creatures in the woods, they would surely tremble with fear at his domineering presence. The scorpion-tailed lion bellowed furiously, "You better die as far away as possible and see if I shed a single tear for you, shallow bastard."

"That’s so sad." Unexpectedly, Lina looked at Dillie’s huffing appearance with sympathetic eyes and sighed, "Isabella and Louise must have a lot in common with you; sometimes they act almost exactly like what you are doing right now."

"Watch it, or I’ll eat you, are you scared?" Dillie opened his enormous mouth in a threatening gesture towards Lina and roared, "I warn you, don’t mistake me for a tsundere, I am not a tsundere, I don’t care at all about his safety."

"Okay, okay, we’re not worried," even the other girls saw the resemblance by now, soothing him as if pacifying a child, "We absolutely believe you’re not a tsundere, but... what does tsundere mean?"

"It means nothing, even if I told you, you wouldn’t understand," the girls’ attitude made the scorpion-tailed lion give up the argument, he lay down on the ground with his head in his arms, muttering, "Anyway, I am not a tsundere, I definitely don’t worry about some idiot’s safety."

Pannis chuckled quietly and waved his hand, slowly approaching the Chaotic Fragments. However, although he spoke confidently, he was extremely cautious in his actions, carefully observing all the treetops and trunks in the direction he targeted, meticulously ensuring the direction he chose was devoid of hidden Chaotic Fragments before making a wide arc toward it. His choice was clever; whichever direction he moved forward from, only one Chaotic Fragment was closest to him. This meant that, even if the Fila Potion had no effect on the Chaotic Fragments, as long as he wasn’t too fast, only one fragment within the sensory range could detect him, preventing the awareness of multiple fragments at once. Clearly, everyone’s cautions had some effect, making him more cautious.

"Lina, get ready," Pannis carefully approached the Chaotic Fragment, finally getting dangerously close, the two almost touching, the strange spiral fragment still twisted and turned by itself, entirely unresponsive. Pannis frowned in thought, then turned and called out, "Remember the route I just took, follow it exactly."

"Hey, keep it down, will you?" Pannis’ sudden shout nearly stopped Lina’s heart, the priest girl hissed through clenched teeth, "At such close distance, aren’t you afraid of startling them?"

"I told you, they don’t have hearing; even if I performed a play next to them, it wouldn’t disturb them," Pannis shrugged nonchalantly, then added, "But be careful, keep your pace slow, just like I did, stopping after each step to give yourself time to react. If you see them charging at you, don’t hesitate; immediately release the Divine Art of Life and purify them as fast as possible."

"Understood." Lina also put away her playful demeanor and gave Pannis a thumbs-up to signify comprehension. She then cautiously began to approach along the path he had taken.

The forest area was silent, the Chaotic Fragments swayed and drifted, but they showed no reaction to Pannis, who was nearing, or to Lina, who was gradually approaching. It was as if the two of them didn’t exist at all. It was not until Lina and Pannis met up and the Chaotic Fragments were already in front of Lina that they still made no additional movements. Only then did Pannis relax his inner tension and waved his hand backward, shouting, "Everyone can start walking over slowly now. I’ll lead the way in front. Follow one by one. Be careful not to accidentally bump into them; that would be really stupid."

"Damn Kyle, why are you staring at me? Do you think I would do something that stupid?" Dillie roared a few times, but eventually grumbled, "Fine, fine, I’ll make myself smaller. What a hassle."

The scorpion-tailed lion, quite dissatisfied, shook its tail, its body shrinking visibly until it was the size of an adult domestic dog, its wings also hidden away. Lina noticed that this form was very familiar; when they first met in Angus Village, the scorpion-tailed lion had adopted this disguise, roaming through the Harvest Festival in Angus Village as a ’Big Dog’.

"Call me ’Big Dog’ again and watch me really eat you," Lina’s eerie gaze made Dillie immediately perceive the priest girl’s intent, and the scorpion-tailed lion made several fierce threats. He followed behind the four girls, moving closer to Pannis and Lina’s location.

It was not until everyone had approached to a certain extent, and the Chaotic Fragments were still undisturbed, that Pannis finally felt completely assured. He confirmed that the Fila Potion was indeed meant to be used here. However, the doubts that followed this confirmation were the most troubling for him. But now he had no extra time to spend too much energy thinking about it. As everyone arrived one by one, Pannis immediately turned around and began searching for the best path to navigate through the group of Chaotic Fragments.

This was not an easy task. Even though they were protected by the Fila Potion and the Chaotic Fragments could not detect them even at a close distance, these fragments did not like the surrounding plants, rooted stationary in the ground. They were always swaying or even wandering, and if the chosen path was too close to them, there was no guarantee they wouldn’t suddenly move sideways and collide with someone nearby. In case of a collision, if the soul was intensely impacted and a small portion torn or plundered, these were minor issues, somewhat akin to wounds that could mostly heal over time. The key issue was that no one could be sure whether the Fila Potion would fail as a result; if it really failed, the ensuing scenario was one no one would want to see.

Therefore, Pannis’s choice of paths was very cautious, trying to leave enough space for the girls to handle any sudden events, while he signaled several times to Lina. Lina nodded her head, opening her spell book in her hands. Several large-scale Divine Arts of Life were ready and stored in the spell book, ready to be triggered at the shortest notice to completely purify any approaching Chaotic Fragments. Only after everything was prepared did Pannis follow the strange route, twisting and turning through the forest. Beside him, the number of Chaotic Fragments gradually increased and then decreased. Ahead of the group, the floating odd geometric shapes became fewer and fewer.

"You said if they touch us, a part of our soul will be taken away," only then did Catherine dare to speak out her question without worrying about distracting Pannis. "Apart from the pain of the soul being torn, what other bad effects might there be?"

"If it’s a small amount, it’s hard to say," Pannis said, struggling with his words. "I’ve only encountered it once. I briefly touched it for less than half a second, and basically, a half-second touch might result in a bit of memory loss, which isn’t too severe. But with longer or more frequent contact, it’s different—it can drive a person insane."

"Wait, memory loss?" Lina asked in surprise. "That’s already quite serious."

"Well, I forgot what the neighbor’s dog was named when I was a kid," Pannis said with a peculiar expression. "That’s the memory I lost."

"Alright, I get it," Lina struggled to respond for a while and finally said helplessly, "Sure, it’s not too severe a matter."

"No, wait," Pannis suddenly raised his voice. "Stop, there seems to be something strange here."
