Chapter 1030: Chapter 145: Anger

"I told you to get lost." Feeling the force from his hands not diminish in the slightest, Pannis’s expression grew increasingly somber. With a burst of strength from both hands, he suddenly pushed the two-meter-diameter electric ball in the opposite direction, smashing it heavily onto the ground with a loud crash. Amid the booming sound, numerous sparks of electricity dispersed from the sphere like a swarm of spiders spreading outwards, crackling through the air. The grass and dry leaves on the ground where the electric arc passed turned to char, the air filled with the scent of scorching. But Pannis didn’t stop; his left hand firmly resisted the ball of light, while his right hand’s fingers extended straight out, like a sharp sword, unhesitatingly plunging toward the very center of the light sphere: "If you refuse to get lost, I’ll take your Elemental Crystal Core."

The first collision merely caused some damage to the Thunder Element’s energy body without any substantial effect, but the subsequent attack from the right hand was different. Elemental Creatures have long lifespans and can be reborn based on the Crystal Core after falling into slumber due to the end of their lifespan or severe damage to their energy body causing death, even though they might lose a great deal of memory. At least, their soul remains the same. However, damage to the Crystal Core is another matter. Once the Crystal Core is damaged, the Elemental Creature would die completely, never to be resurrected again.

Therefore, when Pannis’s right hand, like a sharp knife, penetrated the electric ball, the Thunder Element felt a real threat. It finally regained clarity from its grumpy rage. In an instant, the huge ball of light exploded into a burst of lightning, spreading in all directions, vanishing before Pannis’s eyes. The lightning was so extensive that it destroyed the trunks and Thick-leaf Fern leaves beside the temporary shelter, and afterward, part of the lightning dissipated into the air, disappearing, while a lesser part reconverged, taking on its initial human form. Although it retreated, Pannis was not inclined to end it there; the one-handed sword he rarely used was already unsheathed, his body leaning forward, about to charge and pursue.

"Wow," the cries finally rang out, everything happening so swiftly that Annie and Little Deer had just now reacted, emitting a belated wail, huddling tightly together, using Catherine’s body as a shield, not daring to stick out their heads anymore. The two little ones were not inexperienced with danger, both having wandered alone for dozens of years, and having witnessed plenty of battles, thus having some experience. However, when they died, they were still just children, and throughout the decades, they were alone, with only mindless Undead for company. Therefore, their mentality hadn’t changed much since death, still retaining a child’s disposition. After being accepted by the adventure team, everyone doted on them, treating them as if they were their own little sisters, so after resuming a peaceful life with the others, they had long forgotten the sensation of facing danger. Now suddenly under attack, they were completely stunned.

"Pannis, enough, that’s enough." Catherine turned around, shielding the two little Undead behind her, just in time to see Pannis once again closing in on the Thunder Element, his one-handed sword deeply piercing the latter’s body. One had to admit that the Thunder Element’s speed was indeed shockingly fast; perhaps they were among the fastest creatures in the world. Even a knight’s Charge was only slightly faster. With their speed, even a Demigod would find it difficult to inflict a fatal injury. Pannis’s one-handed sword pierced the Thunder Element’s body twice, but in the final moments, it diverted its energy body at high speed, avoiding the core. Catherine sighed, speaking loudly, "Calm down, everyone is fine, there’s no need to continue."

Catherine’s words caused Pannis’s body to pause, finally giving the Thunder Element a chance to catch its breath. Using this brief halt, its elemental body dissipated abruptly, reverting to the original form of lightning it first presented, shuttling back and forth around the largely ruined shelter. As an Elemental Creature, the Thunder Element can rapidly switch between its elemental form and physical form, but even so, that requires a momentary pause. Throughout their brief combat, Pannis had not given it even that brief moment for transition. Although its speed prevented Pannis from landing a fatal attack, it also couldn’t shake off Pannis’s pursuit; any brief pause to transition would result in the one-handed sword shattering its Crystal Core.

Seeing the situation was improving, Catherine breathed a sigh of relief, walking over to grasp Pannis’s arm, which had stopped chasing, and shook her head at him, speaking softly, "Don’t be angry anymore, we all just got a fright, no one was hurt, there’s no need to truly kill him. This isn’t like you at all, I prefer the Pannis who you usually are, so come back, okay?"

"Cough cough cough." Behind Catherine came a bout of dry coughing, as three young girls were glaring at her with strange looks in their eyes. Lina mouthed ’No running away’, waving her fists at the knight girl, and immediately, the girls were locked in a battle of gazes. Watching the girls pretend to be calm to appease her anger, Pannis’s gaze slowly softened, and her tensed body relaxed gradually. She sheathed her one-handed sword back into its scabbard on her back, yawned languidly, and nonchalantly popped some unknown fruit into her mouth, speaking leisurely, "You’re finally awake, now it’s my turn to sleep."

"Flare, what in the world is going on?" The gentle expression on Flare’s face had vanished, only after Pannis had climbed up a whitevine tree that originally served as the shelter’s framework and found a branch to lie on did her face darken. She frowned displeased and looked up to the wandering lightning, demanding, "Why did you suddenly attack our guests?"

"Elf!" The Thunder Element darting back and forth in midair finally stopped. Still in elemental form, its voice was blurrier than before, and the static noise was more severe, "Why.... are you.... with.... Undead...."

"Who we choose to associate with is none of your business, is it?" Flare usually carried herself with grace and gentleness, something that the Demigods rarely saw otherwise. Even the Elf Queen had her blunt moments, "Or do you mean to say that because we didn’t report to you, you decided to attack our guests on your own?"

"Undead... are enemies," the Thunder Element fell silent for a while, its speech halting, "They are... all enemies. They only kill, must be destroyed."

"But these two are sentient Undead, not the mindless killers you’re talking about." Flare’s expression softened slightly, "I don’t seem to recall you Thunder Elements holding such a grudge against the Undead. You shouldn’t have much interaction with them, right? Moreover, what brings you here all of a sudden?"

"Wait a second." Catherine suddenly interrupted Flare, smiled apologetically at the queen, and then looked up, "The area where you originally lived, it wouldn’t happen to be in the Core Area of the Forest of Death, would it?"
