Chapter 1013: Chapter 128 Top Level

The girls could certainly say that this was not a shift through the Inherent Psychic Domain, having been pulled into the Psychic Domain numerous times before, they were acutely aware that the sensation of domain transferral was nothing like this time. What’s more, Catherine hadn’t felt any energy fluctuations associated with the unfolding of the Psychic Domain, confirming that this spatial transferral was unrelated to any domain. Yet, for everyone involved, it seemed as if the space transfer had been completed in an instant, and without any magical fluctuations—just a blink, and they had all moved from the bottom of the treetops to the top of the World Tree.

"I told you, when I hold the Heart of the Forest, the World Tree is like my own body, my will is the World Tree’s will," Flare, leaning on her staff, said from the front of the group, gazing out at the distant Sea of Trees. "So for me, allowing you to move freely about the World Tree is something I can accomplish just by thinking about it. Now, the place we find ourselves is none other than the summit of the World Tree. The finest rooms of the Elven Royal Court are on this level. Even as a mage, Vivian, I suppose you’ve never stayed in a treehouse five hundred meters in the air. I believe this will be an unforgettable experience for you, as well as for the rest of our old friends. In the past, whenever you visited the King’s Court, I never brought you up to this level. Let’s make up for that neglected opportunity now. I’ve prepared a room for each one of you, and I hope you all like it."

"Yeah, you never took me up here before," Pannis said, pouting and squatting at the edge of a thin branch, her face a picture of complaint, "You always said that only the most honored guests qualify to stay on this level, we were never good enough, ah, but this time I finally get to enjoy it without concerning ourselves with qualifications."

"Hey," Flare said, her calm face once again disrupted, half laughing, half protesting, "When did I ever say that?"

"Hiss, this time I must speak up for Flare, Little Brother Kyle," the Lizardman High Priest, his eyes twinkling with amusement as if seeing through Pannis’s intent, tail swaying cooperatively, said, "I don’t know about others, hiss, but at least when I visited before, she clearly explained to me, hiss hiss, that this top level is seldom opened, and all the rooms are a hassle to prepare as they need to be cleaned beforehand, hiss, and it’s not just about cleaning, but bringing someone up here is even more troublesome, hiss hiss, she could only do it by taking hold of the Heart of the Forest, hiss hiss hiss, so it was always me who declined coming up."

"Hahaha, that’s right, Kyle, you big bully," the Mountain Dwarf Conaida, stroking his bushy beard, laughed aloud, "Alcmene’s holy words couldn’t be truer, Her Majesty always offered to bring us up here. It seems only you would be told you weren’t qualified, hahaha, that’s what happens when you refuse to have your name carved in the Companion Tree, hehe, surely that’s qualification enough, don’t you think?"

"Cough, cough," though the girls were uncertain what it meant to have one’s name carved in the Companion Tree, the lewd, mocking expression on the dwarf’s face gave them a good enough idea, and although the man’s status restrained them from speaking up, they couldn’t help but express their displeasure with a series of coughs.

"Oh dear, hahahahaha, I misspoke," Conaida showed no genuine indication of feeling he had misspoken, his eyes shifting amusingly between the girls and the Queen, chuckling, "Alright, alright, I’ll just watch, I won’t speak, it’s neither my name nor my Companion Tree or my teammate, so of course, I can keep quiet, no loss to me, haha, hey, hey, hey, Kyle, you’re learning, aren’t you? Look what you’re picking up now, you keep it up, I’m getting serious now, I’m not scared of you anymore, oh dear."

Pannis snorted coldly, withdrew his foot from Conaida’s buttocks, and scraped the sole of his shoe on the tree trunk as if he were dealing with something dirty, muttering, "Although I don’t understand what you’re saying, there’s always an urge to kick you, and now I’m satisfied. Speaking of which, I’ve never stayed on top of the World Tree before, it’s so beautiful around here, I want to go up and check out the scenery."

"Tch." Even the young women involved couldn’t help but let out a series of low hisses, expressing their disdain and dissatisfaction with Pannis’s attitude of escaping reality and feigning ignorance. However, being among a group of demigods with a sense of justice, there was bound to be someone to uphold righteousness, so naturally, someone spoke up, "What scenery are you going to look at? Wait till you’re back in your own room if you want to see the scenery. By then, you can look to your death’s content without anyone caring. But right now, I’ve been flying all day, I need to bathe, and if anyone stops me from taking a bath, I’ll eat them, are you scared?"

"Bathing?" Pannis raised an eyebrow and said slantingly, "What’s the rush? You still have to wait for Maya and Tiya to finish before you can bathe. Do you dare to compete with them for the bathroom? Aren’t you afraid they’ll pluck the barbs off your tail?"

"Idiot, are you deaf, you moron," Dillie roared angrily, flapping his wings, "Flare just said that everyone has a room to rest in, you fool, can’t you understand the common language?"

"Of course I understood," Punching his own palm, Pannis feigned realization, "Flare did say that, but you’re not even human. Can’t you just find a tree branch or dig a hole in the ground to rest? Oh right, how could I forget, you’re just a lion, and you should be afraid of taking a bath. Listen to me, don’t bathe, you’re scared of the water."

"Bastard, I’ll bite you to death," Dillie, his mane exploding in anger, lowered his body, gasping with rage, "Damn, Little Brother Kyle, you just wait, don’t expect me to carry you on journeys anymore."

Flare, looking helpless and powerless, glanced at the winged twins who should have intervened but were instead laughing so hard they were doubled over on Dillie’s back. She had to actively clear her throat twice to interrupt the enjoyable argument between the two, saying with a headache, "Argue all you want, but don’t actually fight, okay? If you fall from this level, it would be quite troublesome for me to find you."

Saying this, without waiting for a response from the two, she waved her staff and once again shifted everyone’s location. As everyone steadied themselves, she pointed around and said, "Friends, feel free to choose any of these rooms to stay in. Although the time is short, just tonight and tomorrow, totaling one day and two nights, I still hope everyone can find some comfort."
