Chapter 48: Chapter 46 [The Existence of a BUG]

Chapter 46: The Existence of a BUG

Atop the rooftop, Chen Nuo snapped his lighter to life with a flick and lit a cigarette, taking a slow drag. Glancing at the man in black pinned under his foot, he murmured into his earpiece, "Hurry up and get over here. I don’t have much time; I need to get back to do the dishes."

With a snap, the earpiece was thrown to the ground and crushed underfoot.

"You’re dead tonight for messing with The Abyss..." the subdued man in black attempted to speak.

"Weaklings shouldn’t try to steal the spotlight, alright?" Chen Nuo sighed, pressing his foot down harder on the man’s neck, cutting off any further words, leaving him gasping for air.

In less than half a minute, three figures vaulted onto the rooftop from three different directions simultaneously.

Anderson stood in the middle, the woman in the leather jacket to his left, and to his right was a man dressed in a white lab coat, resembling a medical worker.

Anderson led the way, first casting a cold glance at Chen Nuo before his gaze landed on the man named Alpha under Chen Nuo’s foot.

"Let him go."

Chen Nuo smiled lazily. "Don’t feel like it. What are you going to do?"

Anderson sneered, tapping his earpiece. "Cheetah, go grab that little girl."

Chen Nuo frowned. On the rooftop of his own residential building opposite, a burly figure materialized! Below that figure, on the fifth floor, the window to his apartment’s living room showed the lights on and Chen Xiaoye watching TV.

The distance between the two buildings was over twenty meters. On the rooftop, the burly man known as Cheetah seemed to flash a grim smile, then swung his legs over the edge of the rooftop, crouching to make his descent.

The lazy smile vanished from Chen Nuo’s face.

He hadn’t intended to start a massacre. Perhaps they could talk, maybe use some strategy...

But Anderson had made the wrong decision.

Even if the mundane nature of his recent days had seemed to domesticate him, as if he really had become that cute, somewhat cheeky, and rather shameless youth.

But deep down, he was, after all, once known as:

Yama!

Reaping souls and burying white bones, tormenting and burning the living.

"Are you... threatening... me?" Chen Nuo gazed at Anderson, his eyes suddenly tranquil as he enunciated each word.

Faced with such a serene gaze, Anderson inexplicably shuddered... A faint sense of unease, something ominous, crept over him.

A cruel smirk slowly crawled across the youth’s face.

His foot pressed down!

CRACK!!

Alpha’s neck snapped instantly!

"...You!!" Anderson and the other two were shocked, not expecting the youth to take such a decisive action.

Chen Nuo exhaled, his smile cold and cruel. "First blood!"

"...Kill him!" Anderson roared, simultaneously shouting into his earpiece, "Cheetah! Do it! Kill that girl!"

The three of them formed a triangular encirclement around Chen Nuo. The man in white was furthest, about fifteen meters away, while Anderson was closest, at approximately seven to eight meters.

Narrowing his eyes, Chen Nuo watched Anderson rush towards him. He calmly raised his left arm, spreading his fingers, palm facing his own building—his eyes still coldly fixed on the leaping Anderson.

On the other building, Cheetah, poised to jump down and crash through the window, suddenly stiffened in mid-air!

It was as if the air around his body froze solid all at once!

A series of CRACKS echoed as his bones groaned under immense pressure!

In the night sky, the figure hung stiffly, suspended at the fifth-floor level, and then...

WHOOSH! The figure shot towards Chen Nuo at high speed!

SMACK!

His neck landed in Chen Nuo’s grasp!

Chen Nuo’s fingers tightened. CRACK! He twisted, and it was broken!

"Double kill!" The youth sneered viciously.

That demonic smirk, as it met Anderson’s eyes, chilled him to the very bone!

To grab Cheetah from twenty meters away and pull him over... That kind of power...

"Damn it! He’s a ’Controller’!" Anderson’s voice trembled. "Disrupt him!!"

Anderson had already charged to less than five meters from Chen Nuo, his hands drawing his weapons—steel needles.

The woman in the leather jacket paused, her complexion pale. She bit down hard, spread her hands towards Chen Nuo, and let out a low growl.

Chen Nuo dropped Cheetah’s corpse. Suddenly, his body swayed as he felt an instant psychic shock, as if for a brief second, he was caught in a viscous wave.

But the sensation lasted less than half a second.

A glint of fierceness flashed in the youth’s eyes, and in an instant, his body moved freely again. He turned his head towards the woman in the leather jacket and let out a soft ’hmph.’

The woman in the leather jacket screamed in agony!

That ’hmph’ sound seemed to pierce directly through her brain, plunging into the depths of her soul. PUFF! A cloud of blood mist sprayed from her mouth!

At that moment, Anderson reached Chen Nuo! A steel needle thrust out but missed!

The young man, however, had slid across the ground, right into the path of the man in the white lab coat!

"Doctor? Long time no see." Chen Nuo made a face.

The doctor’s face turned ashen. His fingers trembled, and a bright gleam of a blade shot out! Chen Nuo tilted his head, the blade grazing his cheek. Chen Nuo was now directly in front of the doctor!

The doctor swung his other hand, another scalpel held between his fingers. Chen Nuo narrowed his eyes and flicked his hand lightly.

CLANG!

His finger struck the blade accurately. The doctor screamed as the bones in the fingers holding the scalpel shattered. The damage spread up his arm, instantly shattering all the bones in his right arm!

The doctor fell to the ground, but his eyes, blazing with savage intent, remained fixed on Chen Nuo.

Chen Nuo smiled, then suddenly raised his hand, snatching at the air!

A scalpel, shooting silently towards Chen Nuo from behind, was caught precisely between two of his fingers!

"Waiting for this? Controlling blades? I knew about that in my past life."

As he spoke, the youth took the scalpel, plunged it into the doctor’s throat, and sliced...

HISS...

Half the doctor’s neck was cut open, but no blood sprayed out. The doctor’s eyes bulged.

"Triple kill."

Chen Nuo scoffed, turning to look at Anderson.

Anderson’s eyes were bloodshot!

With a low growl, his muscles bulged, veins on his neck writhing like ugly snakes as he dashed forward like the wind.

Chen Nuo squinted, his body swiftly weaving left and right, dodging several of Anderson’s rapid thrusts.

Anderson’s strength had erupted to its peak. His body twisted during several thrusts, extending or folding at bizarre angles...

However, they all missed!

As they dodged, they passed by the woman in the leather jacket. She had finished spitting blood, but now appeared completely catatonic, with blood quietly trickling from her mouth, nostrils, and even the corners of her eyes and ears.

Chen Nuo reached out and gently tapped her forehead.

CRACK! The woman’s neck snapped, the break continuing all the way down her spine!

"Quadra kill." Chen Nuo stepped back two paces, smirking coldly at Anderson.

Anderson breathed heavily, his eyes filled with intense rage. Suddenly, he flicked his hands a few times, sending several steel needles shooting towards Chen Nuo while he himself rapidly retreated!

After leaping back a few meters, he flipped his body and jumped off the rooftop!

Plummeting more than ten meters, Anderson landed with a thud. He had just turned when he saw the youth’s face inches away, less than half a meter from his own!

"Trying to run?"

Chen Nuo smiled, reached out, and grabbed Anderson’s neck, then leaped lightly!

The two soared up more than ten meters, landing back on the rooftop.

"Wait, wait..." Anderson weakly cried out.

CRACK!

His neck was twisted and broken again!

"Penta kill." Chen Nuo looked at Anderson, collapsed on the ground, let out a light breath, and curled the corner of his mouth.

His gaze swept across the rooftop. Five bodies lay there.

"Chen Nuo, legendary," the youth exhaled, muttering to himself. "Hmm... never mind. Two short."

Ten minutes later, a van parked by the roadside started slowly. Chen Nuo sat in the driver’s seat, calmly starting the vehicle. He even remembered to fasten his seatbelt and use the turn signal before pulling onto the highway.

In the back of the van, the five members of the Abyss Organization—five corpses—were seated in various positions.

The car headed south. About half an hour later, it reached a reservoir area, navigated several side roads, and stopped in a deserted, remote spot.

Chen Nuo stopped the car.

He searched Anderson’s body, found a satellite phone, examined it, and smiled.

Lighting a cigarette, he took a couple of drags before dialing.

"Anderson, calling so soon? Seems the mission went well..." a hoarse, cheerful voice said on the other end.

Chen Nuo quietly waited for him to finish, then smiled. "Captain? I’m sorry to inform you that all five of your men, including Anderson, are dead."

"..." Silence prevailed on the other end for a few seconds before the voice returned, cold and stern, "Who are you!"

「In the Virgin Islands.」

A middle-aged man stood before a large glass window in a frame-structured building, holding a satellite phone, his expression extremely grim.

The voice on the phone was calm, even casual, as if making light conversation.

"Abyss Organization, rated Level B by the Underground World. Headquarters address: the Virgin Islands, coordinates longitude and latitude XXXXXXX...

"Main members: seven Knight Level, three Medal Level, Lord Level vacant.

"Ah, my apologies. You now only have three Knight Level and two Medal Level members left.

"Leader, nicknamed Captain, thirty-nine years old, six feet tall. Ability: water control.

"Strength rating: Destroyer Level."

The young voice on the phone continued nonchalantly.

"Your secret account in the Swiss Bank is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, and the electronic code for the hydraulic explosion-proof safe at headquarters is XXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

"By the way, regarding your exclusive yacht, if I’m not mistaken, there were a few cases of ’90 Latour stored in the wine cabinet.

"...How about that?

"Shall I continue?"

"..." The Captain’s face paled, a cold dread washing over him. "You... Who exactly are you?"

"Someone for whom crushing you and everyone in your organization is not much more difficult than crushing an ant," the voice on the other end remained calm.

The Captain forcefully suppressed his surging emotions. "...What do you want?"

"You can trace this call to retrieve the bodies of your five men. Remember to be thorough with the cleanup.

"And from now on, if any member of the Abyss Organization sets foot on any land in East Asia...

"You die. All of you will die.

"Am I making myself clear?"

"Your Excellency... who exactly are you?" The Captain gritted his teeth, but his tone involuntarily carried far more respect.

He felt as if he had been plunged into an icy abyss.

This call... What shocked the Captain most wasn’t the annihilation of Anderson’s five-man team. It was how the person on the other end, in that nonchalant tone, had stripped bare every secret of his Abyss Organization!

He even glanced around in terror, half-expecting to find unseen eyes watching him from the shadows!

"Your Excellency... who exactly are you? Could you tell me?"

"...Remember my name. I am... Yama."

Chen Nuo hung up the phone, tossed it into the car, then got out and locked the door.

He dropped the car keys on the ground.

The youth, hands in his pockets, whistled as he slowly walked away.

The Captain put down the phone, turned, and slowly walked to a nearby chair, slumping into it.

His movements were slow; at this moment, he felt as if all his strength had been drained.

Deep within, an uncontrollable fear surged.

Yes, fear.

This didn’t mean the Captain was a coward or inherently timid.

Rather, the content of the call, the information it conveyed, was simply too terrifying!

This person... they had exposed his organization, all its secrets, every last detail, as if stripping it bare! They even knew what kind of liquor was hidden on his private yacht...

Such an adversary.

If they truly harbored hostility...

The Captain made a judgment: what the other party said—that crushing him would be no more difficult than crushing an ant.

Such words were clearly not an empty threat.

Damn Anderson... Had he provoked a slumbering dragon hidden in the shadows?!

Anderson’s team of five: one Half-Medal Level, four Knight Level.

To wipe out a team with that configuration... the Captain knew he himself was absolutely incapable of it.

Then the other party... What Level were they?

Beyond Destroyer... A Controller? Or even higher... Lord Level?

If that was the case, then crushing him truly would be like crushing an ant.

No, it was also possible they weren’t alone... But if it was an organization... That would be even more terrifying!

A hostile organization that knew all the Abyss Organization’s secrets, all its hidden details? They even knew their most confidential accounts, coordinates, even the vault passwords...

For such an adversary, how difficult would it be to eradicate The Abyss?

The Captain didn’t dare to think about it any further.

...Yes.

Yama! He burned the name into his memory, seared by pure dread.

After a full half-hour of silence, the Captain picked up the phone again.

"Anderson’s team has failed the mission... According to the coordinates, dispatch Cleaners to erase all traces. Then... full retreat." The Captain gritted his teeth. "Also, we will temporarily sever all operations in East Asia. Withdraw all commissioners and Gold Diggers from East Asia. Mark my words, a *complete* severance!"

Chen Nuo looked at his sleeping sister, bent down to gently pick Chen Xiaoye up, and carried her to the bedroom. He tucked her under the covers, adjusted the air conditioner’s temperature, and then came out, closing the door.

Entering the bathroom, Chen Nuo swiftly stripped off his clothes and filled a nearby bathtub with cold water.

The youth’s slender yet muscular body slowly submerged into the icy water. Chen Nuo let out a long breath.

The bone-chilling water seemed to gradually draw out the violent, almost uncontrollable power that had been coursing through his body...

Under the water’s surface, from the pores of his submerged skin, trickles of fresh blood oozed out.

"I was still a bit hasty, huh." The young man frowned, yet a smile remained on his lips as he endured the tearing pain within his body.

Hmm, what level has my strength recovered to now...?

Forget it. Calculating this doesn’t really mean much.

My power was never supposed to fit into the system those guys designed anyway.

I... am a BUG.

I was, in my previous life.

BANG! BANG! BANG!
