Chapter 743: Chapter 743: Daily Life in the Divine Realm and Visiting

When we arrived in the Divine Realm, we seemed to have forgotten something: to bring along a certain little doll’s packaging box.

Mercury Lamp’s box was left behind on Earth, resulting in the little doll being particularly rambunctious before going to sleep these past two nights. Don’t think that the normally icy and proud Chairman is equally quiet behind closed doors. When she throws a tantrum, she’s no less trouble than the other lolis at home. Last night, she used not having her little bed to sleep in as an excuse to bounce around on her own bed for most of the night, ultimately causing me to go out in the middle of the night to seek refuge. By the time I returned, the worn-out Rose Maiden had splayed herself out in the middle of the bed...

Of course, the change in Mercury Lamp is delightful. But as she becomes increasingly bold in acknowledging me as her "daddy", a series of troublesome issues follow suit. Yes, though she hasn’t admitted it openly, Mercury Lamp enjoys the "daughter" role with peace of mind in many situations, like having me feed her at the dinner table (her hands are small, not good at holding regular utensils, and she forgot her set of small bowls and chopsticks too), competing for Little Bubbles’ snacks, and frequently diving under her own quilt at night—don’t think dirty, the purpose is to startle me.

The whimsical behavior of the little doll often leaves one scrambling, but I also know that this is her gradually reclaiming the joy she should have had: the right to act spoiled as a daughter. As a doting father, I have successfully spurred the once stoic Chairman to develop a coquettish persona, and whether this is a success or a failure is up for debate. But one thing is for certain: if that damn box doesn’t show up by tonight, I’d better be prepared to roll on the floor!

Now there’s no direct corridor between the Divine Realm and Shadow City, and transportation can only rely on the Divine Race to lead the way. Bingdisi, as much a hooligan as she is, truly cares about her friends. As soon as she heard about the little doll’s recent antics this morning, she set off without a second thought to fetch the box from Earth. With the female hooligan not around to lead us on a wild chase this morning, the dark history Lin Xue and I had gathered last night had no chance to be utilized, leaving me feeling a bit bored. Not knowing where else to go, I watched Mercury Lamp and Lilina fight in the living room: they erupted into war over the last breakfast donut, and half an hour later, they were still at it, evenly matched. The little doll’s strength lies in agility and her ability to fly, and those black wings, which once greatly confused Uncle Kuwayin, made Mercury Lamp look like a cunning Little Angel as she zipped around Bingdisi’s impressively spacious front hall. Lilina’s strengths, on the other hand, lay in a variety of Divine Techniques and her sufficient rascality. Yes, rascality—that was the decisive factor allowing Lilina, who is not skilled in flight, to frequently gain the upper hand in these chases. Though Mercury Lamp has quite the temper, facing Lilina, who is full of deceitful schemes, she is but a simple child. Amid a string of incessant lies, illusions, traps, and vines set by a certain Archbishop, Mercury Lamp ended up at disadvantage, as always, now cornered near the ceiling, weaving and dodging in the confined space, occasionally cursing Lilina’s mean-spirited tactics.

I used to intervene in such situations, but now that I’ve come to understand that these skirmishes are their way of expressing "friendship", I’ve become too lazy to bother with them. Without a good fight each day, these two treasures are on edge, and hence, not only myself but also Big Sister, would contentedly watch them from afar when their roughhousing isn’t too serious.

Today’s battle ended with Lilina victorious, as Mercury Lamp accidentally got herself hung up on the chandelier...

The fake Lolita, whose personality could be unpleasant, dug out a long bamboo pole from somewhere, declaring she would help get the unfortunate doll down while poking at the little doll girl who was trapped on the ceiling and couldn’t dodge. Mercury Lamp cursed Lilina’s actions at the top of her lungs while blocking the bamboo pole which constantly prodded her face with a black longsword. The stubborn little doll kept glancing my way but was adamantly unwilling to ask for help. Watching with a mischievous grin, I thought to myself that at home, this one who likes to fly around everywhere always had to bump into something to stop; at Bingdisi’s place, she needs to get hung up on something to keep still. Who knew this little one could be so entertaining?

Eventually, the little doll suspended from the chandelier exploded, hurling the bizarre longsword she conjured from feathers while shouting loudly, "Idiot! Idiot! Idiot! That damn Elf is bullying me, and you just stand there watching!?"

Oh, oh, oh, a little daughter seeking comfort from daddy after feeling wronged? I truly felt a subtle sense of achievement at this moment.

Using a hand-chop and a head-bump, I quelled the daily war between Mercury Lamp and Lilina, telling them to go play with Qianqian, who has recently taken an interest in Bingdisi’s childhood toy collection and spends her days happily immersed in it.

Pandora and the Visca sisters continue their routine activities, with the latter bouncing around in search of new amusements, boasting her newest discoveries in front of her twin sister, while Pandora always quietly sits alone in a corner, powering down for extended periods. She either ignores her sister’s antics or administers a swift hand-chop. Over time, the contrasting characters of the two sisters inevitably lead to a scuffle, pulling hair, tugging ears, pinching faces, and rolling on the ground to form a resplendent garden of white lilies.

Of course, they would never really lose their temper. It might sound odd to say, but "fighting" is Pandora and Visca’s favorite way of interacting. Ever since their first grand battle upon meeting, they have committed to this style wholeheartedly. Pandora asserts her authority as an older sister by fighting with her younger sister, while Visca seeks her sister’s attention by provoking her—both are foolish behaviors but manifestations of the close relationship between the sisters. Occasionally, they engage in other activities, such as attempting a Fusion to become Pandogosla and enjoy the thrill before a mirror for five minutes.

The fusion ability of the Pandora Sisters was still an ongoing research topic. Taville wasn’t yet sure if their skill had any developmental value, nor could he find a way to extend the fusion time: due to their vastly different personalities, it was impossible for the sisters to think as one while fused. They often contradicted each other when facing a matter that required judgment, and then, with a bang, they’d turn into two shiny, one-meter-two tall figures. That’s why I always forbade them from transforming into Pandogosla when there were outsiders around, to prevent the dignified Imperial General from becoming two moving welfare broadcasting machines.

Sandora had negotiated with the Father God about re-establishing the Divine Realm-Xyrin linkage system, which had already been put on the Divine Realm’s work agenda. But for the past couple of days, we had nothing to do except for listening to reports from Shadow City in the morning and arranging relevant work. Even Sandora started to idle, and we whiled away a third of the morning doing nothing. Then I suddenly had an idea:

Why not go see how the rest of the Tiaozi Five of the Divine Clan were doing?

Yelsen, Monina, Lin, and Uncle Kenser had each returned to their own temples on our first day in the Divine Realm. They were said to have many matters to handle, being gods with divine positions, but everyone knew the integrity of the Tiaozi Five of the Divine Clan. If they were really dutiful, it would be a surprise—more likely, they felt psychological pressure staying at Bingdisi’s high-ranking household and went back for some peace and quiet. Now that I had nothing to do, I might as well check on what Dingdang’s subordinates were up to on a regular day.

No sooner had I thought it than I acted and went to notify the others. However, the only ones who responded to my call were Qianqian, Lilina, and the Pandora Sisters. Qianqian was always keen on everything and eternally thrilled as long as she got to go crazy with me. Lilina was also someone who couldn’t sit still. After she had bullied Mercury Lamp enough in the morning, she was planning to go and make trouble for others. The Pandora Sisters simply wanted to hang out with their big brother.

The other folks showed little interest in my suggestion, each claiming they were busy with things to do—the main reason being that Bingdisi’s big house had sparked their exploratory spirits, and they were now busy forming exploration teams to scout every nook and cranny of the place.

I led two maniacs, a treasure, and a menace out of the temple and stood on the vast grassland of the Main Continent, where the breeze was stirring waves of grass. Being cooped up inside for two days and only getting out once to see the Father God had been hard on the lively and active Visca. So now that she was set free, the little girl immediately began frolicking across the landscape, chasing butterflies, little birds, vultures, Spiritual Dragons, and even Bahamut. By the time I caught on, she had already set up anti-aircraft cannons across the grassland. I didn’t dare to imagine what exactly she intended to catch. Pandora, still vaguely remembering her duty as the elder sister, also got moving amidst Visca’s romping, attacking Visca, Visca, or maybe just Visca—until the latter set up the anti-aircraft cannon, which proved too tempting for her not to join in the mischief.

I was busy hauling back two violence-inclined beings who had gotten carried away, while following Bingdisi’s teachings, I began silently chanting Lin’s name in my mind and recalling her divine position. It was said that every temple in the Divine Realm was omnipresent, and one way to make them appear from Other Space was to fixate on the temple owner’s mind. If the owner happened to be home, his doorbell would ring... Of course, if you knew the specific name of the temple you were looking for, things would be much easier. Just enter the temple’s name, and you could appear directly in the temple hall.

But I truly had no idea if Lin’s temple had a specific name, so I had to use the brute force method and search for the Dragon God’s ID, "Lin." Luckily, this approach was effective. Just as I concentrated on searching for the Dragon God "Lin," a gentle and soothing voice resonated in my mind: "Hello, this is the Divine Realm’s Directory Assistance Secretary, pleased to be at your service."

I raised my hand and pinched Lilina’s soft cheek with force, and she wailed and kicked back at me: It seemed to have really hurt.

"Hello..." I responded to the unexpected voice in my mind with mixed feelings. Fortunately, it seemed that the Divine Realm’s public Spiritual Connection network maintained seamless integration with the Xyrin-style Spiritual Connection. My response went smoothly, with no cross-network delays—the only question was whether roaming charges applied when using the Xyrin Spirit connection call in the Divine Realm.

"The target you are searching for is: a god with a divine position, Dragon God, female, with only a vague name condition: Lin. Based on this condition, 1,028 individuals match the target you are searching for. Do you have any more detailed criteria?"

You’ve got to be kidding me! How come searching for Bingdisi’s temple wasn’t this much trouble!

"Uh, 1.6 meters tall, short hair, very timid..." I wasn’t sure if such vague descriptions would be effective, but I blurted out this information anyway.

"Re-matching: There are still four hundred and forty-two people matching the target you’re looking for. Do you have any more detailed information?"

I racked my brains, deep in thought, and submitted two or three more pieces of information related to that dumb girl, but there were still over two hundred matches. I even tried using my status as a member of the Dingdang Team to narrow down the search, but to my surprise, the military system and this civilian inquiry desk were still isolated from each other! The Divine Realm’s Omniscient Directory didn’t contain any information about any of the combat teams.

At this moment, Qianqian creatively added, "Doesn’t land!"

Guess what happened?

Instantly, the temple appeared right in front of us.

The customer service of the Omniscient Directory was quite polite, "If you had said ’doesn’t land’ earlier, you wouldn’t need a name to confirm who it is, absolutely no duplicates — How about a rating?"

With a heart full of perplexity, I left a positive review for the customer service MM.

You tell me, how many more temples in the Divine Realm are engaged in such a vexing line of work?

Sighing such thoughts to myself, the few of us then started to gaze up at the immense castle ahead, dumbstruck.

"It’s really... tall..."

Lilina looked up at the huge building in front of her and murmured.

Originally, I thought we’d encounter a palace similar to Bingdisi’s home, that kind of thing looks like a temple, but who would have thought that Lin’s temple would be a magnificent castle. It was slightly smaller than Bingdisi’s home, but its style appeared much heavier. It looked like granite with a metallic sheen, constructed with huge stone blocks into robust fortresses and soaring towers. The castle’s style bore a resemblance to medieval European architecture, and although it wasn’t overly decorated, it had an exceptionally solid look and feel.

Lin’s castle was different from Bingdisi’s palace; it wasn’t floating mid-air but was built on the ground: complete with a very large area around the temple covered with huge stone slabs extending outwards, blending into the distant prairie. Beside the castle was an area hundreds of meters wide and at least several kilometers long, its end nearly out of sight. Judging by the twinkling silver reflections within this region, I tentatively guessed the whole area might be paved with Star Gold Stone.

Building a house while also constructing a high-speed road — could it be that Lin is a potential squanderer?

While I was busy guessing what that commanding road was used for, the castle gates opened, and a girl wearing a luxurious white dress with golden edges and a golden crown dashed out from the castle with the speed of the wind and quickly ran up to us.

"Welcome!" The Dragon God Girl nodded to us with a hint of nervousness, making me feel a bit embarrassed to blurt out what I initially intended to say. Instead, I tactfully reminded her, "Lin, did you feel like you bumped into something just now?"

The Dragon God Girl tilted her head, puzzled.

"You just sent Lilina flying."

Visca found Lilina a half-kilometer away, her head buried in the ground. Fortunately, a divine body proved durable enough, and aside from her pride, the girl had no other injuries. We chatted as we walked into the castle, and just before entering, I suddenly remembered something. Pointing to the pretentious highway next to the castle, I said, "Speaking of which, you really are wasteful, building your own roads while making a house?"

Lin immediately blushed with embarrassment, lowering her head, "That’s for my landing..."

An "oh" sounded in unison from everyone.

Just like every God with a Divine Position, Lin not only possessed an enormous temple but also had a large number of Divine Servants. However, since Lin’s experience was still shallow and insufficient to be a qualified "Mentor," less than a third of her Divine Servants were Divine Race interns. The rest were her followers, those powerful members of the Dragon Clan from other worlds, who through countless layers of challenges, thousands of years of training, and numerous epic baptisms, finally underwent a transformative leap from their mortal status. One day, with thunder from the heavens and ascending by daylight shooting up — they gloriously became servants in the Divine Realm serving tea and water, attending to a clumsy and timid mistress.

It’s beyond me how they maintained cheerful contentment throughout such a transformation. Based on what I observed entering the castle, the guards and servants all showed one hundred percent sincere respect and affection for Lin, despite the fact that their mistress kept breaking things, screaming in surprise, and clumsily apologizing. The Divine Servants took it all in stride, with an air of habituation, showing not the slightest dissatisfaction with their struggling mistress: could this be the so-called Fanatics? Selectively turning a blind eye to any truth that might be unfavorable to their God due to their faith?

"Hmm, I’ve been busy dealing with piled-up matters," Lin ushered us into the parlor herself, sending the Divine Servants away, and started preparing tea and telecommunication services for us in a flustered manner, while chattering away, "The world I manage has had an outbreak, and many of the Dragon Clan and the Humans they protect have been infected... Ah, sorry, sorry, I shouldn’t talk about work... Visca, would you like some cake?"

"You seem quite busy on a regular basis."

I smiled, watching Lin’s clumsy actions, just like when she was on Earth, busily helping Anwina with housework. These actions made it difficult to imagine she was the mistress of such a splendid castle, and a deity with millions of followers at that, a Dragon God known for power and order — to have such an oddity among them, how did those followers maintain their faith in their God?

But the moment I remembered the little Dingdang sleeping soundly in my pocket with a lollipop clutched in her hands, I immediately calmed down. (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit Qidian to cast your votes or monthly tickets, your support is my greatest motivation.)
