Chapter 552 Bingdisi’s Advice

Chapter 552: Chapter 552 Bingdisi’s Advice

"Ah, Ah Jun, you’re awake!"

After arriving at the bridge, the first to notice me was Qianqian, who can never focus on anything for more than two seconds. We had only been apart for a few hours, yet she eagerly rushed over, unceremoniously plucked Little Baobao out from my arms, and replaced herself.

"Wow—"

Immediately, Little Baobao burst into tears.

I said, innocence is pretty nice, but Qianqian, could you maybe not stir up trouble with the kids at home once in a while? You’re practically ruling over them now.

Watching Qianqian snuggle in my arms briefly before frantically trying to console the very Little Baobao she had just upset, I thought this girl’s mind had no cure.

"Everyone’s here," ignoring the mother and daughter-like duo behind me (I’ve reasoned for so long and concluded Qianqian and Little Baobao should be considered that, else why does the little one call me daddy yet treat Qianqian like a big sister, it feels like I’ve lost something), I greeted the others, "I just wanted to lie down for a bit, but ended up sleeping so long. Where is the fleet now?"

"We’ve been docked in Mars’ orbit for a while now, just waiting to land once you woke up," Big Sister gently straightened my collar, which was all over the place, her tone quite surprised, "Speaking of which, Ah Jun, what happened while you were sleeping? Your clothes are a mess?"

It was probably the result of Little Baobao crawling all over me... Speaking of which, even though she’s light, Little Baobao has some weight, and she crawled on me for hours without me noticing. Should I feel proud of this level of concentration?

"You really don’t care about your appearance one bit," Big Sister, just like the times she’d get me ready for school when I was little (elementary for me, middle school for her), meticulously fixed up the clothes I never cared about, with an attitude of turning a simple tank top into a bow tie, "In a while you need to meet with those refugees as the Imperial Leader, at least present them with a dependable image... hmm, you’ll need to wear that ceremonial dress later! No arguments!"

Me: "..."

Is this an extension of those childhood days?

"Cough, cough, I hate to interrupt this sibling moment," Lin Xue suddenly coughed, "but it seems like our ’Light’ Lady Goddess has something to say."

Lin Xue was referring to Bingdisi, whom I had already noticed; this rogue goddess, renowned in the multi-universe and likely infamous after the 10010th Void Node event, was sitting with Sandora, apparently having finished sharing their experiences. She was busily drilling her clan’s ideologies into Bubbles, who, however, seemed mostly lost in some instance or another and ignored the goddess altogether. Luckily, Lin Xue’s interruption gave Bingdisi the opportunity to focus her attention on me.

"Yahoo, you’re awake, monster kid?"

"Hey! What’s with that nickname?!" Just as I was about to greet her, I got choked up by her fierce moniker. How does she even come up with these things?

"A human who can now defeat a High Order True God, isn’t ’monster kid’ quite fitting?" Bingdisi waved it off, looking completely unconcerned, "Only fools sweat the small stuff."

This... guy!

Despite having such a girly face and a glamorous body, why pair that with such a rogue personality?

"You’re awake, that’s good. There’s not much to say," Bingdisi hopped off her seat, instantly moved beside me, and patted my shoulder, "Just saying goodbye. I’m heading back to the Divine Realm."

"Eh? You’re leaving already?" I was caught off guard.

"Ah, I haven’t been back in tens of millions of years. I’m afraid someone might have torn down my house. I need to go back and sort out some paperwork at the Great Temple, scare my stupid old man, and those hooligans who used to hang with me. I need to take charge again. It’s tough in the Divine Realm these days, you disappear for tens of thousands of years and they stop treating you seriously, so I need to check on my old turf and underlings..."

Can’t this guy stop thinking from a rogue’s perspective for a moment? Consider your past followers, damn it!

"Also, I’ve been managing several worlds; having been away for so many years, I don’t know what’s become of them," Bingdisi finally remembered her identity, "I really miss the days fooling those believers."

Everyone: "..."

"What’s more critical, I’m a bit unsure how to face those mortals below."

After speaking recklessly for a while, Bingdisi finally slightly awkwardly expressed something relatively reasonable, "I can feel there are 280,000 mortals on that red planet who are somewhat connected to my existence. Funny, isn’t it? Being a High Order True God, yet fearing to face a group of mortals."

"Twenty million years have allowed a planet that was originally meant to seal me, filled with magma and energy storms, to evolve life, which was beyond my expectations. Perhaps the sacred energy of the seal itself leaked, not only calming the elemental storms on the surface of the planet but also allowing evolution, which should have taken hundreds of millions of years, to complete in such a short time. These humans born from my ’tomb’, drawing upon my life energy, are almost like my children, but now they were almost completely destroyed by me.

Even creators have no right to arbitrarily destroy the lives they’ve created, and in this respect, I’m really lousy..."

I didn’t know how to respond; this rogue-like goddess, no matter what, had passed her... uh, I’m getting sidetracked.

What I really wanted to say was, who would have thought that even someone like Bingdisi could be moved by such matters?

"What’s with that look?" Bingdisi, having more insight than I expected due to her billion-year lifespan, poked fun, "Don’t look at me like that! I’m still a goddess! Which god doesn’t cherish the mortals under their protection? Especially since these are the beings born from my energy."

"Merely twenty million years, they lived because of me, and nearly perished because of me—I know they didn’t all die, that was just for the rhyme (at this point, everyone burst out laughing), and I’m a bit unsure whether I should approach these children."

Bingdisi seemed troubled as she scratched her head, "Anyway, I need to head back first. My mind is still all muddled—these humans are in your care for now. I’ll try to apply to become the boss here. This world has been struck by the Abyss Impact twice, filled with perilous risks, and needs a boss to stabilize the situation. Those mortals from the hardest times need a god to protect them, and soon, I will again shelter this race... and this time, nobody will erase them!"

Oh, having a determined attitude is commendable, but it would be even better if you could slightly correct your manners of speaking which lack morals.

After declaratively announcing his future plans, I thought Bingdisi was done, but then this guy shifted his gaze back to this side, clearly having remembered something not very optimistic for me.

I never thought that this rogue could come up with any ideas that would be beneficial to others.

"I’ve got something else to tell you." Sure enough, Bingdisi came closer and even casually threw up a sound barrier, and I immediately shrank my neck, "Don’t even think about it, I have no interest in joining the dark business!"

"Not being a pirate, either!"

"I’m definitely not going to the Pantheon to collect protection money!"

"Recruiting underlings for you is out of the question! I haven’t been in that line of work for many years!"

"What on earth are you blabbering about!" Bingdisi finally couldn’t take it anymore and let out a roar like the He Dong Lion directly into my ears: Was she focusing on us because of the sound barrier she put up just now?

"Do you think just anyone can be righteous and chivalrous... cough, cough, a newbie like you is far from it—I’m talking about serious matters," Bingdisi rarely showed a serious expression and declared this topic had nothing to do with her rogue theories, then turned back to look at Sandora, who was curiously watching us, and flashed a heartless silly smile, "Chen Jun, right?"

Huh? Using my name normally?

"Listen, you defeated me—although it was me almost weakened to the state of a Middle-level True God, but your power has now been recognized, and then, you saved my life. I, Bingdisi, never owe anyone anything, including favors, thirdly, I also roughly understand your character, you are worthy of your power, you have a heart as powerful as your own strength, and it almost never changes due to any external factors..."

Actually, that was just a victory of an Otaku spirit.

"Anyway, I now consider you a friend worthy of the title," Bingdisi said very seriously, which is strange, if this was said by someone else with a different expression, it would give off a condescending impression, a sense of "I consider you a friend as a favor to you". But coming from Bingdisi, the rogue goddess, I could only feel her sincerity, "Speaking to you as a friend: Chen, take good care of Sandora."

I was slightly stunned: All this preamble was just for this piece of advice?

"Don’t think this is just a simple reminder," Bingdisi narrowed her eyes, "I’ve known Sandora for a long time, even though not long after I got sealed in this world, but she is one of the few true friends I acknowledge. I, Bingdisi, am always reliable with friends, so I don’t want her to get hurt, understand?

Just now I was asking Sandora about the situation over the years, the Empire, which once stood at the pinnacle of humanity, had encountered some bizarre severe strikes, but the Divine Realm didn’t notice any signs of large-scale attacks... Those idling governors in the Divine Realm should deal with that, they need some exercise anyways, what I care about is Sandora now has nothing, her empire, her glory, her past—all gone like smoke. I can’t believe that the once proud and strong Battle Song Princess would say such a weak and foolish thing as ’Ah Jun is now all my wealth’, but since she has decided so, I need you to promise me: if Sandora gets hurt because of you in the future..."

"No need for you to act, I’ll find an Abyss Gate and jump through it myself."

No promises were necessary, no solemn oaths required. My tone was as natural as discussing eating or drinking because, for me, it was self-evident.

Bingdisi watched me quietly for a while and then burst into an unprecedented sincere smile, "Okay, you didn’t disappoint me." As she spoke, she removed the sound barrier. "Having determination is good, but I’ve also heard you bring home a girl every now and then. This time it’s me, next time someone else might be the unlucky one—be careful, young man! I’ll be coming to visit you often~!"

As Bingdisi’s echoing words faded into the air, I stood bewildered for quite some time, then glanced around at the group of beauties surrounding me and said seriously, "I think there’s been a misunderstanding."

"That damn goddess did it on purpose!"—I said this only in my heart, what one might call a heartfelt statement.

Despite Big Sister’s insistence that her brother should, in all his glory, descend from the Imperial Battleship clad in that flashy royal ceremony dress, under the escort of gun-toting, cannon-lifting Imperial Soldiers to receive the worship of thousands, I meant—they always need twice the time to take off, and might require scissors, a dagger, an ion cutter, liquid bombs, bayonets, or even Vega’s big machete to manage it after just one terrible experience.

Practically speaking, how great is a hurdle vest! With just a pair of leather straps and flip-flops, the approachable spirit of the Imperial Leader is absolutely peak-perfect. Oh, and after that fight earlier, I need a couple of fried dough sticks, a bag of soymilk, and maybe a boiled egg...

In the end, Sandora and Qianqian had to press me down together, commanded by Big Sister while Lin Xue observed, and with a couple of one-meter-twos handling the task, Bubbles and Little Baobao adding to the chaos, it was like fighting another High Order True God as I got shoved into that ceremonial dress, which no one with an IQ under 200 could hope to take off by themselves.

Despite my reluctance to admit it, I found out the hard way; the outfit was indeed the right choice.

The Imperial Admiral, massive in size, hovered high above Mars Sanctuary because disintegrating it on the ground would require too much energy. It shone like the sun’s rays on this far-from-the-Sun, slightly dim, red land, and the spherical ecological colony below as we switched to a large shuttle through the energy barrier outside the ecological ball and entered the sanctuary.

The moment I appeared from the shuttle’s gangway, deafening cheers erupted around me.

"Holy crap!" I jumped at the magnitude and then plugged my ears, "Sandora, what’s going on? Why are these refugees so energetic?"

"Based on the suggestion of Lola Stewart, scenes of the Imperial Fleet’s battles were played over the sanctuary," Sandora said with a smile, "and that cunning little girl (...) used her power to shape them into an epic holy war conducted by an Otherworld army to protect human fire seed, even the universe itself—certainly, the impact of those scenes is significant."

"After a disaster, people need something solid to lean on," explained Lola as she appeared beside us and led the way, "The astonishing power your troops displayed in battle gives them such hope, and with just a little stoking, it is easy to turn sinking despair into almost fanatic admiration of power; while not necessarily a good thing, this fervor helps them endure the toughest times."

"Just as the citizens of the New Eden Federation initially experienced."

I nodded, understanding Lola’s point. I must admit, this woman is extremely shrewd when it comes to manipulating people’s emotions, a true ultimate Fox Woman capable of swaying an entire sect at once—if thrown into WWII Germany, there probably wouldn’t be anything left for little Hitler to do.

Mars Sanctuary was built by directly transforming an Imperial ecological colonization ball laid on the surface; the simplest and easiest structure to manage, with city management teams from the center swiftly crushing anyone trying their luck in selling, meaning that dark-suited gentleman need not sneak among the crowd to push his "New Era Early Imperial Holy War High-definition Gun Version" anymore... I’m watching...

Ahem, our landing spot was a large plaza near the center of the colonization ball, already filled with neatly arrayed, fully-armed Xyrin warriors, sealing off ordinary civilians from just beyond the plaza. Recognizing the importance of the scene, even the mad gal Qianqian sobered up briefly, seriously grabbing my arm as we slowly walked down the gangway while Little Baobao in my arms quieted down, showing off the upbringing of the Little Princess of the Empire. Thus, under the dim rising sun of Mars Sanctuary, on the only oasis of the desolate land, under that giant golden cross in the sky, the majestic alien warriors stood solemnly, as the Imperial Leader—with his stiff-faced girlfriend on one side, the bored-faced Imperial Empress on another, a daughter hanging from the neck with a lollipop in her mouth, alongside the Imperial General trying to push down the Little Princess and take her place (Visca), another general (Pandora) constantly flicking his sister back with supersonic hand-chops, Big Sister whispering in the background as Prophet Lin waves and bows to the crowd trying to act like a Leader, Archbishop Lola wishing she could literally bang her head against the ground—what a magnificently imposing scene...

Magnificent, my foot! Majesty, my foot! Wasn’t this just like Uncle Twice Removed returning home from a vacation with his family?! How hard is it for you guys to maintain a shred of dignity for the empire? We’re shooting a military theme here, not a sitcom, damn it!
