Chapter 951: Chapter 951 Hurry Up and Run
Setting up this simplified formation, Bai Xiaofan hoped to adjust his condition first.
Even if he couldn’t return to his peak state, he needed at least some ability to protect himself in this eerie and dangerous royal tomb!
As Bai Xiaofan was meditating, sounds of fighting suddenly came from not far away.
Soon after, Bai Xiaofan noticed that the stone wall to his left was slowly sliding to the sides, revealing a narrow path in his line of sight.
It turned out there was another formation here that he hadn’t noticed before.
Five people appeared in Bai Xiaofan’s view, walking over from the distance.
Leading the group was the bald-headed Ryan.
The other four were the experts who had previously left to activate mechanisms in other tunnels.
Bai Xiaofan did not immediately destroy the formation but quietly observed Ryan and the others. He wanted to see who among them was knowledgeable about formations.
“Ryan, we’ve been wandering around here for ages. Where on earth is Her Highness Isis?”
“Exactly! If we don’t find Her Highness Isis, who are we supposed to ask for the rest of our payment?”
Listening to their complaints, Ryan furrowed his brow slightly.
“Didn’t I already tell you? I’ll lead you there now. Besides, even though we’ve been circling for ages, we haven’t run into any enemies, have we? Her Highness Isis showed me the map of this place—you’re afraid I can’t find the royal tomb’s treasure? Once we find the treasure, Her Highness Isis will surely be there!”
Ryan responded gruffly, clearly annoyed by their questions.
Moments later, Ryan and the five others arrived beside Bai Xiaofan.
“Shh, listen. There are sounds of fighting ahead—they’re likely from other people!”
Ryan raised his hand to signal everyone to be quiet and listened carefully. Sure enough, there were sounds of combat.
With a wave, he led the other four, without hesitation, toward the source of the noise.
Compared to the other four, Ryan was much more concerned about Isis’s safety.
Although Isis was the most powerful among them, the undead creatures here were too dangerous—for someone even at the Divinity Transformation threshold, safety wasn’t guaranteed!
Watching Ryan’s group disappear into the distance, Bai Xiaofan narrowed his eyes slightly.
None of those five had glanced in his direction, nor had anyone noticed the formation he had set up.
Was it possible they hadn’t noticed his formation?
Bai Xiaofan couldn’t believe it!
Even if he was confident—as far as his comprehension of formations was concerned, surpassing Liu Cheng and Liu Yong among others—he wasn’t arrogant enough to think that any casually set-up formation would be completely unnoticeable by others versed in formations.
If these five truly hadn’t detected him, there was only one explanation.
Ryan must be holding a map of the entire Underground Royal Tomb, including detailed knowledge of every formation’s location.
He could then directly unlock formations using pre-known methods.
Watching Ryan’s group leave, Bai Xiaofan refocused on his meditation.
Meanwhile, Ryan’s group quickly sprinted forward and soon arrived at a circular open area roughly fifty meters in diameter.
In this area, two opposing groups were fiercely fighting.
One side consisted of Isis and Yaoyao.
The other was Liu Cheng and Liu Yong, who had brought three or four others with them.
“Advance! Help Her Highness Isis defeat Liu Cheng and Liu Yong!”
Ryan roared and charged into the battle ahead.
The remaining four hesitated briefly before following suit, joining the ranks against Liu Cheng and Liu Yong’s faction.
Thud!
A muffled sound rang out!
Noticing reinforcements for Isis, Liu Cheng struck Yaoyao’s shoulder with his palm, injuring her. He then retreated a step, regrouping with Liu Yong and their team.
Yaoyao staggered back alone and took out healing medicine to consume.
Beside her, Feng Hao and Xiao Qing were nowhere to be seen—it was unclear where they had gone.
“Isis, I think there’s no point in continuing this fight. If we keep going, we’ll only end up mutually destroying each other. At that point, no one will get the treasure here!”
Liu Cheng stood with his hands behind his back and stared at the somewhat pale-faced Isis across from him.
Though he spoke rationally, Liu Cheng was cursing inwardly!
If Ryan hadn’t suddenly appeared with reinforcements, they would’ve taken just a few more minutes to kill Yaoyao and Isis.
Once Isis was dead, all the treasures in the Underground Royal Tomb would have belonged to him.
“Liu Cheng, save your breath! You and your people violated the contract, took my advance payment, and not only didn’t help me complete the mission, but even turned against me to steal what’s rightfully mine. People like you don’t deserve to live!”
Isis spoke haughtily as she stared at Liu Cheng and his group.
Earlier, she had encountered Yaoyao here—but right after their reunion, Liu Cheng’s group had stormed in.
Without another word, they had launched a joint assault against the two of them.
If not for Yaoyao’s strength being far greater than her surface-level Nascent Soul stage suggested—able to shield her from Liu Yong’s group’s attacks and buy Isis time to focus fully on battling Liu Cheng—
They would likely already be dead.
Now, seeing Ryan’s group enter the fray, offering a truce seemed absurd.
Since when did the world work like that?
“Heh, Isis, aren’t you a bit arrogant? Do you really think adding Ryan’s group to your side ensures you’ll defeat us?”
Liu Cheng sneered disdainfully, seeming utterly unimpressed by Isis’s claims.
Indeed, Yaoyao had already been injured by him. Even with Ryan’s reinforcements, the balance of strength between the two sides was no better than fifty-fifty!
For a moment, a tense silence hung over the battlefield.
Both Isis and Liu Cheng understood that if they fought, both sides would undoubtedly suffer devastating losses!
“Run! Undead creatures!”
Suddenly, an urgent shout came from the side, followed by two panicked figures darting into view.
“Bika, is it really just a few undead creatures? Why all this fuss?”
Ryan glanced at the leading man and mocked him.
“A lot of undead creatures!”
Bika didn’t have time to explain further as he bypassed Isis and the others, fleeing toward another tunnel.
The crowd scoffed at Bika’s words.
Everyone here was a skilled fighter. Even if undead creatures appeared—so what?
Could highly proficient warriors truly fear a couple of undead creatures?
But in the next instant, as more than a dozen undead creatures charged out from the tunnel Bika had fled from, Isis, Liu Cheng, and everyone else turned pale.
