Chapter 864 - 864 864 Monk Pu Zhi

864: Chapter 864 Monk Pu Zhi 864: Chapter 864 Monk Pu Zhi “I told you not to come.

Who told you to follow me anyway?”

Bai Xiaofan spoke in a low voice, lightly tapping Murong Wan’s forehead with a hint of reproach.

“I just wanted to come out with you!”

Murong Wan pouted unhappily, her cheeks puffed out as she glared at Bai Xiaofan.

“You win!”

Seeing Murong Wan’s pitifully aggrieved little expression, Bai Xiaofan was at a loss.

He could only stretch out his arms and scoop her up.

Murong Wan, nestled in Bai Xiaofan’s arms, immediately wrapped her arms around his neck.

The unhappy pout on her face was swiftly replaced by a radiant smile.

“Feeling happy now, huh?”

Bai Xiaofan teased her, lightly patting her thigh as he looked at Murong Wan, who clung to him like a koala.

“Hmph, of course I’m happy!”

Murong Wan tilted her chin up proudly, acting like a spoiled little child.

And thus, for the rest of the journey, Bai Xiaofan basically carried Murong Wan the entire way.

At one point, Murong Wan tried to get down and walk on her own, but Bai Xiaofan refused.

Even though he hadn’t fully recovered from his injuries, climbing a mountain was still easy for him.

Besides, Murong Wan was lightweight!

Though truthfully, the main reason was that holding her like this let him take full advantage.

As the sun dipped toward the horizon, Bai Xiaofan and the three others finally reached the mountaintop, standing at the entrance to Guilai Monastery.

“Please stop, esteemed guests.

This monastery is not open to visitors.

If you’re looking for a place to rest, there’s an inn at the base of the mountain where travelers can stay,”

As soon as Bai Xiaofan and his companions paused at the monastery gates, a young monk came forward and clasped his hands respectfully to address them.

“Master, what you’re saying isn’t right.

Look at the beauty I’m holding here—she’s feeling unwell today, and now you’re telling us to head down to the inn for rest?

We just came from there, and they’re already full!”

Bai Xiaofan looked at the young monk, who seemed to be younger than himself, and made up an excuse without hesitation.

Murong Wan, hearing Bai Xiaofan’s words, jumped in with perfect timing.

“Brother-in-law, my stomach hurts so much.

Am I going to die?”

Bai Xiaofan was speechless at her exaggeration.

This little troublemaker—if you’re going to make up a reason, at least make it believable!

Since when does a stomachache lead to death?

“Esteemed guest, if you’re feeling unwell, it’s better to descend the mountain immediately.

The monastery truly does not allow visitors,”

The young monk frowned slightly, reiterating his stance firmly to Bai Xiaofan.

“People always say saving one life is worth more than building a seven-story pagoda.

What’s wrong with you, little monk?

Where’s your compassion?

Where’s your abbot?

Call him out—I want to have a serious chat with him!”

Fuming indignantly, Bai Xiaofan glared at the young monk while shouting at him loudly.

All the while, he carried Murong Wan as he continued walking toward him.

If Bai Xiaofan were alone, the young monk might have managed to block him.

But Bai Xiaofan was shameless—he made sure Murong Wan was out in front.

Unable to deal with this, the young monk instinctively stepped aside.

That momentary hesitation was all Bai Xiaofan needed.

With a swift motion, he stretched out his hand and pushed open the monastery gates.

Zhan Xing and Zhan Xueru immediately followed Bai Xiaofan, stepping into the monastery.

“Esteemed guests, you cannot enter!”

The young monk hadn’t anticipated Bai Xiaofan’s quick reaction.

By the time he realized what had happened, Bai Xiaofan’s group had already entered the monastery.

“Tell Kongkong to come out and let him know I’ve come to challenge him!”

After entering the monastery, Bai Xiaofan set Murong Wan down.

After all, this was a monastery, and some decorum was necessary.

“Esteemed guest, Brother Kongkong is currently in seclusion and cannot be disturbed,”

When the young monk heard Bai Xiaofan mention Kongkong, his attitude became less accommodating.

Meanwhile, from all around them, a dozen martial monks armed with staffs suddenly emerged, staring at Bai Xiaofan’s group with grave determination.

As for these young monks trying to block the way, Bai Xiaofan didn’t give them the slightest attention.

Without hesitation, he lifted a leg and prepared to move forward.

“Amitabha!”

At that moment, a gentle and aged voice echoed from the inner courtyard.

Soon, an elderly monk emerged, walking with deliberate yet steady steps.

“Abbot!”

As soon as the young monks saw the elderly monk, they respectfully pressed their hands together and greeted him deferentially.

“Step aside,”

The elderly monk instructed the young monks before turning to face Bai Xiaofan and his group.

“Four esteemed guests, please follow me,”

At the elder’s words, Bai Xiaofan’s group promptly followed him into the inner courtyard.

Murong Wan, that little rascal, made sure to hum mischievously as she passed the young monk at the gate, as if to say, “See?

I still got in, didn’t I?”

“Kongkong is meditating at the Enlightenment Pavilion on the back mountain.

Which of you wishes to see him?”

The elder gestured toward a narrow mountain trail as he addressed Bai Xiaofan and the others.

“Brother Bai, Wan’er, Father, please wait for me here.

I’ll go see him myself,”

Zhan Xueru turned to Bai Xiaofan and the others and spoke before heading off toward the trail without looking back.

“Please, have a seat,”

The elder pointed toward a set of stone stools and invited Bai Xiaofan and the others to sit.

“May I ask for the master’s name?”

Bai Xiaofan looked at the elder and inquired.

“This humble monk is Pu Zhi, the abbot of Guilai Monastery and also Kongkong’s teacher,”

“Master Pu Zhi, Kongkong once mentioned that Guilai Monastery is a school of cultivation.

Why does it have only a handful of people?

And why were we not allowed to enter at first?”

Despite using a polite form of address, Bai Xiaofan’s question carried a hint of dissatisfaction.

“The monastery is modest.

If we had too many disciples, it would become difficult to sustain ourselves.

As it stands, the produce we grow in the back mountain is just enough to meet our needs.

As for the restriction on entry, it is a rule passed down by our founders,”

Master Pu Zhi remained patient and unperturbed, kindly explaining to Bai Xiaofan without showing any signs of displeasure.

“Master Pu Zhi, are you aware of what your disciples have been doing outside the monastery?”

Zhan Xing looked at Pu Zhi and couldn’t help but ask directly.

“I do not know.

However, whatever they do outside is their own responsibility,”

Pu Zhi smiled faintly, picking up a tea kettle and pouring a cup of tea for each of the four guests.

Curiously, though the kettle clearly contained cold water, the tea in the cups was warm.

Wisps of steam quietly rose from it…

Murong Wan’s sparkling eyes lingered on the tea cup before her, filled with an innocent sense of wonder!
