Chapter 1234: 548: Foreign Tribe Army, arrived home!
The Chimera Tribe took a detour northwest to the Mirror Mountain Ghost Domain World, a journey of more than five hundred miles.
Since they were all on horseback, with more than one horse each, they covered three hundred miles in a whole day, leaving only two hundred miles to their destination.
After dark, Lanling ordered them to set up camp in a dense forest and establish defenses.
No one lit a fire; they simply ate jerky and flatbread in the darkness.
Though everyone was quiet, the over one thousand Foreign Tribe Army members were immersed in excitement and anticipation, whispering among themselves.
After being oppressed for so many years, they were finally going to be free, finally going to have their own tribe.
"As long as I can be my own master, have my own tribe, and not be bullied, even if I die within ten days or half a month, I am willing."
The words of one Foreign Tribe Army brother resonated with everyone.
Indeed, as long as they could live with dignity, as long as they had their own tribe, even if they were to die in battle soon, there would be no regrets.
In the Chimera Tribe Foreign Tribe Army, there was no future, no legacy.
The Foreign Tribe Army had existed for nearly twenty years but had almost no children.
Because they were not allowed to marry or raise children, Yaya became the only child in the entire Foreign Tribe Army, everyone’s beloved sweetheart.
At this moment, the little girl was nestled in Lanling’s arms, the Little Griffon Beast snuggled in her arms, as they shared bites of tender venison.
The Foreign Tribe Army lived a hard life, but this little girl never suffered hardship in terms of food and clothing.
Dina smiled, "Yaya, we recently learned a new song. Can you sing it for Daddy?"
The little girl thought for a moment, then nodded, and the Griffin chick waddled up to join her.
Then, the little girl started singing earnestly among the crowd, dancing as she sang.
Indeed, whether it was her singing style or her dancing posture, both were in tune and proper.
Her voice was tender, her cheeks pink and rosy, as adorable as could be.
Everyone around listened quietly to her sing, watching her dance.
Lanling could not understand the words she sang. The Barbaric Wilderness had common languages, but also countless tribal languages, too many to count.
This song the little girl sang was taught to her by a Foreign Tribe Army brother who had lost both legs.
This Foreign Tribe member was one of Suo Mo’s longest-standing brothers. When he was in exile over a decade ago, he had a daughter, but his family was gone, and he met Suo Mo, joining his ranks.
About thirteen years ago, he lost his legs in a major battle. It was Suo Mo’s blood that saved his life, but afterward, he became disabled.
Though his legs were broken, his hands became increasingly dexterous.
As a man, he did all kinds of work: mending clothes, making sturdy furniture, repairing weapons, crafting shields, and so on.
When the little girl joined the Foreign Tribe Army, she was immediately drawn to the small figurines he carved. He was also captivated by her, reminded of his girl who was gone, who was even younger back then.
Over the past two months, he made over a dozen various dolls for the little girl, complete with eyes, hair, and clothes, each one lifelike.
Thus, this disabled Foreign Tribe veteran became one of the little girl’s closest people, besides Suo Mo, Dina, and Lanling.
The meaning of the song she sang was simple—a little girl became so engrossed in picking mushrooms in the wild that she forgot to go home, feeling scared alone in the forest.
The little rabbits, deer, and big pine trees sang to comfort her, telling her not to be afraid, that they would accompany her.
The little rabbits led the way, the fireflies lit her path, the big pine trees guarded her, and the little girl successfully returned home.
It was a very warm and happy song. Listening to the girl’s tender voice, all the Foreign Tribe brothers initially clapped along, but eventually couldn’t hold back their tears.
Because the world in the lyrics was so beautiful, while the reality was so cruel.
The little girl in the song had the big pine trees to protect her, little rabbits to guide her, fireflies to illuminate her path, and she could find her way home.
But in reality, they were homeless.
Yet, they too once had a happy home, had parents, even had family.
But now they were alone, having been wandering since over a decade ago, like floating duckweed with no roots. Even in the Chimera Tribe, they were living under someone else’s roof, struggling to survive.
"We’re about to have a home too, right?" Dina softly said, holding back tears as she nestled against Lanling’s shoulder.
Lanling embraced her shoulder, saying, "Yes, we will have our own home. Every brother here, as long as they live, I will make sure they marry and have children."
Duo Ning’s eyes were red, holding back tears.
A few months ago, she could still be considered a favored daughter of the heavens, living in a castle on the mountain top.
Now, she almost had nothing, eating whatever she could find, exposed to the elements every day. Her brother was dead, her mother was dead too.
"Girl, compared to them, you are much better off," Duoduo said. "At least you still have your dad."
Duo Ning replied, "Father, what about us in the future?"
Duoduo said, "Someday, we will take back our Wild Horse Tribe, regain our home."
Duo Ning said, "But we only have less than a hundred people left."
Duoduo fell silent because it was true; they were down to just about a hundred people.
